Prepare some nickle (RMB 1Yen) - If you want to take bus.
Do you want to take some photos?
The old building in 19th century and Sun Yat-sen times are interesting.

I have never been in Guangzhou myself, nor Chinese language speaking. But if I were in your shoes, I would help myself like this:
- Use sign language in restaurants and hotels.
- Outside the above places, I won't communicate (because I can't). I only take pictures, based on a list of my favor destinations, such as the banks of Pearl River, Qingping Market, Five Genies Temple, Huaisheng Mosque, Temple of the Six Banyan Trees, BrightFilial Piety Temple, Chen Family Temple, Sun Yat-sen Monument, Zhenhai Tower,Tomb of Mohammed's Uncle, Sacred Heart Church (that survived the Mao's Literature Revolution).
Talking about survival, there are some basic words that you may want to remember:
- Ambulance: jiuhuche
- Antibiotics: kangjunsu
- Doctor: yisheng
- Hospital: yiyuan
- Police: jingcha
- I feel ill: wo bu shufu
- Toilet paper: weishengzhi.
Hope you don't need to use the above terms at all. Good luck, and have fun.

I forget telling you: BE CAREFUL!!!!!!
Some guy will rob your bag at public area, such as the roadside.
Be careful, some one riding motorcycle may take items from your hand when they passed by quickly.
