How do others go about judging what strength of ND filter is required for bright skies etc? I am asking specifically about when the only metering available is that in the camera.
My own technique is simply to meter for the main subject and compare that with the metering for the sky and use the appropriate filter. For example correcting a 2 stop difference.
I don't know yet whether that will work as I only started with the ND last week. I would be interested to know how others work.
