What do people think about having an area where once a month a theme is given and then we all go around the places we live and give our representation of the theme?
For example, one theme could be "parking lots." We could then go out and take pictures of parking lots in each respective country and post. This would bring an interesting twist to the "TrekEarth" theme and it would be interesting to see how other "parking lots" looked in other countries.
Just an idea. Let me know what you think.

I think it's a lovely idea.
*A busy intersection at rush hour.
*What old people do for recreation.
*Public artworks.
*Traditional or Typically dressed people.
*Popular pasttimes for teenagers.
etc etc.
Interesting idea. I could eventually add a listbox to each photo listing the different 'themes' or 'projects' so they could then be grouped and displayed together.

Sounds like a cool idea to me! The concept could fit rather well with the rest of Trekearth's framework too.

I agree, it does sound like a great idea. It would give one a "mission" which would encourage people to search out photo opportunities in areas they usually might not look at. I'd certainly be on board.
I am just a little worried that we'd end up with a lot of mediocre photos uploaded just because they match the theme. This might dilute the generally high quality of TrekEarth photos.
When deciding what to upload, we'll need to be as diligent as ever in chosing our shots.

Great idea for me too. I also agree with Martin because it would encourage research and imagination around a common theme, when normally we would have missed the idea. Let's do it!
