safety in kashmir..?

I am thinking of going to Kashmir next year, though it depends on the conditions.
has anyone been there recently? If so, did you feel safe and what not? How are conditions there? Would you recommend going there or is it too big of a risk?

i was in Ladakh last year,we didn't have any problems. the hot spot is near Pakistan border.

Didier,
I was in Ladakh last year too! When were you there? I am actually talking about the Kashmir valley, like Srinagar, which is volatile. Ladakh is different region and it isnt dangerous.

i was there from 17 july to 7 august, we went to Zanskar .

Oh I was there from August 2 to 5. We stayed in Leh.
