problem with my nikon FA

i've been having recent problems with my nikon FA. occasionally it shoots on shutter speeds of it's own that are just way too fast despite my setting it on slower ones leaving my pictures underexposed.
even in automatic apperature setting shooting at night without flash, it just clicks :( instead of getting a correct exposure that's supposed to take 15 seconds for example it just goes on something like 1/250.
happens often and in all manual and automatic settings, even if its display mentions a certain speed it just goes "titik".
i tried changing its batteries, nothing.
one more thing ... i noticed the problem happens less if i'm using my motordrive.

I think after 20 years your camera needs a general revision.
The mechanism was normally wear with the years of use. Your camera needs a general revision in repair shop.

Hi, I agree with ´Didi´. Even a very well made camera like the Nikon FA wears with age - and yours could be 23 years old. I´d suggest sending the camera to a recognised repairer for an estimate - it may be cheaper to replace the camera than repair it. Best wishes Stephen
