My points do not add up

When I checked my points the other day, my total was 1282. I then posted a photo, and the points I was give for that plus for another pic should have made my total 1298, but when I logged on I had 1324. I was then given another 2 points, which meant when I logged on today, I should have had 1326, but I now have 1322. The points for all my photos are still the same as I have printed out totals, and I'm aware at what time my points are updated each day (about 8.30am UK time).
Has anyone else noticed any problems?

Alex, you have some lovely photos and they receive quality comments and critiques... this is what the important thing is. These questions give credence to the "do-away-with-the-points" campaigners. I'm not trying to be rude or mean, but they don't mean anything. Perhaps there is something to gain besides improving photography skills, sharing what we know of the world with others and the occassional ego stroking... but I doubt it.

Thanks Narayan,
You've made me sit back and look at what this site is about, and what I want from it. I always told myself that points were irrelevant, but obviously in my subconcious, I've been constantly looking at them, keeping a check on how many I have , and then as soon as I thought I had lost two points somewhere along the line, I was panicking.
Trekearth is about sharing, sharing experiences through photographs, and sharing photographic knowledge through the comments and critiques system.
Thanks Narayan for making me sit back and realise this, thanks for taking the time to answer my question, but most of all, thanks for being honest in your reply.

To be honest, until I read this post I didn't realize there was a points system! I have only been a member of TE for a month or so. I just appreciate a platform in which I can share my photos, and also view the great work of many other people.

The one thing I like most about this site are the comments I receive from other people, both the good and bad, the fact that someone took time out to pass comment on my work is more important than any points sytem.

All very valid points (no pun intended) but I do like getting a couple of points for a photo :)
