Killimanjaro

Has anyone every had a guided trek on Kilimanjaro? and if so, did you book a guide when you were in Kenya/Tanzania, and how cheap and safe are the guided tours? I've seen some pretty expensive tours listed from here, and I only hope it's cheaped when I'm there.

We had Kili climb and safary with Nyika Treks. Here is their official website http://www.nyikatreks.com/. Their office is in Arusha. We still think it was a reasonable compromise between safety and economy :-).

If I were you I would just go and ask around. In Arusha you meet lots of people who have just come back from a trek, so there is always someone to ask. I ended up not going, but that was because I was seriously out of shape :)
