The Mac fans will disagree with me here, but as a PC user who has to use a Mac from time to time, unless you need to use compositing and editing software for video such as Final Cut of Shake, don't bother. Stick to a PC laptop (the AMD 64 machines are very nice even if used with 32 bit OS.) Adobe and Macromedia cross platform quite nicely and preform just as well in both OS. If you are used to a windows harddrive organization and storage layout, the Mac harddrive layout will drive you batty. If you are used to Linux, the tranfer won't be nearly as painful. Except for my sisters old Mac (which she reorganized to be more windowlike), I still have a tendency to loose things in that wacky directory structure. Of course, I still have that trouble from time to time in Linux. The only reasin I would consider it would be if Aperature has peaked your interest, though from what I have seen the Gimp now has alot of the same features that Apple is crowing about. That's my two bits.
