Categorized Threads...

I have a question for you guys. Is Trek Earth big enough to have Categorized threads much in the way we have Categorized Photos? Something to help us sort the threads to find information quicker.

Here is what I am thinking. Much like when you go into the Galleries, you can see ALL the threads if you choose to. However, when you are looking for certain information, you can select a Category, such as Camera Questions(Digital or film), Film/Media Questions, Lens and Camera Accessory Questions(tripod, lens, etc...), Photo Philosophy, Photo Travel (airport travel, Photo Location Tips), Improvements and Suggestions (this is where all the complaints and suggestions go).

This would allow Trek Earth users easier access to the vast information on this site. If you like it the current way, you could still search by ALL threads, but this way you can get more specific very quickly on the site.

For people who Post a thread, they would have to take one additional step of selecting exactly which forum their Thread would fit into. What do you guys think?

In other words, you're asking for more forums. I don't know about now but I do think it will be necessary sooner or later. With more forums, there would also be a requirement for some administration tasks such as moving threads to the forum in which they belong, deleting improper posts, etc. Some online forums have different classes of users in which regular participants are recruited to help out with this sort of thing.

Yea, I just want a little more organization in the threads as I tend to look for the more technical info.

That's an interesting point about members moving the threads around. I would have no trouble helping with that, but figure Adam would want someone who has been with the site for a while (someone who has demonstrated long bout's of loyalty to the site) to help him with that. More than happy to help though. Is this something that makes sense then?

Hmm, this has been requested a couple times previously as well. So I will add another forum called 'Technical'. If anyone has a better idea for a forum name to discuss technical topics (equipment, software, techniques etc), please let me know.
