    Hi Ike,

A superb high pov overlooking the city with excellent sharpness. I also like the warm cold color contrasts between the red rooftops and the blue sky. Tfs!

    Hi Murat,

France invaded England in 1066 & did not leave until 1201. So there are many French words in the English language. William the Conqueror of Normandy defeated Harold the 1st. The Bayeaux Tapestry depicts battle scenes. And France in turn was ruled even longer by the Romans so that explains the Latin words seen here finding there way to England. Tfs!

    Ola Fabiano,

Well composed using the rule of thirds with good sharpness. I might have added more shadows and contrast and I will check the workshop. The stone fort on the cliff adds a focal point. Tfs!

Perspective has been well managed placing the verticals centrally. Good sharpness and the traffic island makes a fine focal point. Th dark steeple of the church at right adds a graphic element. Tfs!

    Hello Beatrice

The wet pavements are the making of this photograph as far as I'm concerned. Which is why I'm sure you accentuated the fact by showing so much of the foreground. It's given an unusual slightly downward-looking viewpoint which seems to echo the downbeat mood.

    Regards

    Hello Jean

You've chosen your vantage point very well: Pen Duick II is in the foreground, a very famous ocean racer in which Eric Tabarly won the 1964 Singlehanded Transatlantic Race. And behind her is Pen Duick V, designed for the 1969 Singlehanded San-Francisco to Tokyo Race, which Tabarly also won in her. What stories these yachts could tell... Thank you!

    Hello Craig

Nice shot. But as a sailor, I couldn't drag my eyes away from the yacht, apparently abandoned on the beach. Surely not a proper mooring? With any sort of wind, the incoming tide could easily knock her to pieces on those logs. I hope the owner comes to her rescue soon! Sorry to be so tunnel-visioned about this one.

    Regards

    Hello Gy

I may have wanted to place the girl a little further to the right, to obey the rule of thirds. I'm conventional like that! And come to think of it, the thirds idea is reflected in the triangular "frame" above her head. It's another strong b/w, with a slightly sad atmosphere, though she's probably texting a friend and is perfectly happy.

    Will

    Hi Rob,

A wonderful abstract reflection of St Paul's Cathedral albeit a little distorted in the spherical mirror like sculpture. The red buses add a great warm cold colour contrast with the blue. It looks a little like an 80's pacman! Tfs!

You'll be giving us some exciting distortions from now on I assume! This is just for starters. Really an exercise in colour, although as you say, it wouldn't work half so well without the pedestrians approaching. I'm looking forward to your next few...

    Dear Dale,

Nice composition with the tree branch which 'covers' the castle. Although I may have used flash to illuminate to preserve details of the branch.

    Best Wishes,
