    Hi Kari,

A very interesting note for this charming vintage train that seems to keep going strong. The scenery is truly spectacular, thanks to a clever point of view right after the bending curve for a dramatic impression.

    Great presentation!

    Hi John,

I am not surprised to see Cameron Diaz working in the street; I just saw her less than two hours ago in a very bad movie from Ridley Scott (The Counselor...Pfff!...) and she has now to recycle herself into a different job.

Although she is covered with gold like an Oscar, she certainly doesn't deserve one.

But what an elaborate costume it is! I think that your shot have much more merit to present this subject in a natural context, rather than being stoic and static while performing. I also appreciate the proximity, almost intimate, or at least close enough to see the colour of her eyes.

    Well done!

    Ciao Luciano,

An excellent shot, for the repetition of the arches, the beautiful light and the inclusion of this man walking through and adding interest to your scene.

I appreciate that he isn't placed straight in the middle, somehow balancing your composition with the door in the opposite direction.

    Very attractive and well captured.

    Salut Philippe,

    Ciao!

    Hi Blue,

These rice fields provide excellent photographic opportunities, as they show people at work, and like your nice title suggests, they are a tribute to the ones who work hard to grow food for the population.

I like the vibrant green and the way the little girl stands out from the scene, thank to her vividly coloured dress.

The only critique, or rather constructive comment I would like to share with you, is the way people interact together and the moment you decide to press your shutter; in this case, the woman standing behind seems to have her head in the posterior off the one in the foreground, which is not the best situation to put people in context. It often worths it to stay around a scene long enough so people forget your presence, acting more naturally, and also for you to capture a scene where your subjects will create a pleasing and efficient composition.

    Best regards,

    André

    Hi Gert,

Coincidence or carefully planned, but I like how the couple is framed in the middle of the illustration, precisely in an empty space between characters of the scene.

I like the industrial aspect of the environment, with an urban aura provided by the tags and graffitis. Great street shot Gert!

    Salut Claude,

    Hi Lisa,

I recognise this road... Without a doubt the scariest bus ride I ever had, not only for the elevated view that gives you the impression that you will tumble down the cliff on each and every curves, but also because there was a tornado at sea, with the funnel and everything, menacing to hit the road while we were driving between Sorrento and Positano... And I remember also about the delicious lemons, and the equally delicious limoncello they make with them...

Good "people in their environment" photo, where the guy epitomises the good spirit and warm nature of Italians. It's interesting to see him with his small stall and the great landscape in the back. Good colours, good contrasts, good framing.

    Cheers!

Vancouver is very sophisticated indeed, if only our friend Craig wasn't messing around in the area... :-p)) (Sorry Craig, I couldn't resist teasing you...).

A very interesting result with that blue dominant that brings a lot of charm to the scene, and probably a good dose of peaceful mood too. I like the panoramic frame that suits the subject efficiently.

    Salut Jean-Jacques,

    Hi Elaine,

The simple scheme of harmonious colours warmed up by the sun is for me the most attractive element of your image. I really like this palette of distinct tones that seems to scream Asia!

And the way you have framed the monk that looks backward in your composition is very effective, including his feet position that communicate his hesitation; is he going to continue or turn back? This momentum in the pose creates a visual tension that transforms a static photo into a storytelling scene.

    Well done!

    Hi Dwaipayan,

Same celebration, different priests. I was quite impress to witness this religious ritual, not only for the ceremony itself, but also from the way worshipers were affected and the significant effect it had on them.

I found it interesting to present this solemn performance from a distant point of view, presenting the whole scene with spectators. Because of the darkness, all the attention goes to the priests, but the overview provides a sense of the place.

    Have a nice weekend!

    Bonjour Christiane,

    Amicalement,

    Hi Brenda,

That's a clever one, showing your sense of observation and quick reflex. I found your shot really well composed, with the bench anchored in one corner, and the inquisitive eyes perfectly place, almost discreetly, so it takes a second to realize the great visual play you have created.

    Hi Way,

Very strong work here, for so many reasons.

First, you caught the head of the caravan, which for me is crucial. Otherwise, it would have been a lousy shot... from your own high standards. You needed that leading man, which makes all the difference in the quality of this meaningful scene.

Then it's this incredible salt texture, looking like an icy surface where snow have hardened on top. The colour atmosphere of this desert appears subdued and crystalline at the same time, an aura that can only be achieved through backlit conditions. You were very lucky to have this overcast sky that was diffusing the light throughout, bouncing back on the ground softly and allowing you to shoot directly in front of the sun.

And of course, the composition is admirable, with the horizon highly perched, and the caravan far away in the distance to increase the feeling of desolation, but still, close enough to distinct their silhouette and not confusing them... with polar bears... :-p))

A very unique and inspired photo from an extraordinary location.

    Congratulations!

    André
