    Hello dear Constantino,

This 3-mast sailing ship, "the barque," is especially beautiful in that it is a reconstructed version of a historical boat. Without the power boat speeding by, this could have been a painting from the 19th century. Lovely composition and exposure.

    Hello Craig,

I have been watching the FIFA Women's World Cup, and I've known about the hellish temperature. Especially on artificial turf the temperatures were around 130 F (54 C) and the player rubber cleats were melting. I think this photo would have been most inviting for the players. Very nice photo, kids being kids, cavorting in the cool water of a fountain.

    Warm regards,

    Ciao Silvio,

The composition, sharpness, colors and textures all collaborate in this lovely photo. The placement of the arch leading into the city, and the high hill in the distnace are strong focal points. The note, as usual, is first rate.

    Dear Serghei,

It was in 1983 that we visited Kyoto the first and only time. I see that the rails are slightly tilted, perhaps to allow some trains to pass through without stopping. But the curve of the tracks leads the eyes to a vanishing point. It's very effective.

    Warm regards, Serghei,

    Hello Eleu,

A superb areal shot of the dreaded Mig-15. I remember it well, and I remember when an Iraqi pilot defected to Israel with the first Mig-15 that the West was able to get its hands on. In a program I watched recently, they said that in taking the plane apart, the engineers found that it was not really superior technologically to the US fighters of the time, but it was in the training the pilots received.

    Ciao Christina,

What a superb portrait, and what sympathetic face. My only constructive criticism is to crop the photo 10-15% from the right side. According to a discovery by the British born American psychologist Dr. Christopher Tyler, in all great portraits, one eye of the subject (here the left eye) should be on the perpendicular bisector. This is never taught in art schools, and yet the Masters through the ages have painted portraits that way Leonardo's "Mona Lisa," self-portraits of Rembrandt, and even Picasso's "Portrait of Dora Maar."

    Regards,

    Hello Jean,

The great German physicist and Nobel Laureate Werner Heisenberg is generally credited with the pronouncement, "Never underestimate how much pleasure it will give a man to see what he already knows!" So it is with Giant's Causeway. Last October on our visit to Belfast, we journeyed to Antrim, and were dazzled by the site of the geologic wonderland just as you must have been. This a very good photo giving an expansive view of nature's stonework. Your note is first rate.

Jean, you've inspired me to submit one of my photos of the site. Thank you.

Shot with a shutter speed of 1/500 sec, the photo reveals droplets and the separate streams cascading down the rocks. It makes a mesmerizing shot of the Pacific Northwest. The only thing missing are the sounds of the ocean.

    Merhaba Murat Bey,

The engaging note adds context to the photo of the airport transport station in Orlando. Regarding your experience as a witness to the explosion of the Falcon 9, a supply vehicle for the Space Station, it is reminiscent of an experience I had. Many years ago I was in Orlando, ostensibly to visit the launch of Apollo XIII. That was of course an ill fated launch also. There was even a film made about it.

    Bonjour again Roland,

The juxtaposition of the bicycle wheel, and the perfectly matched colors of the stiletto heels and water hydrant collaborate to make this a balanced composition. The sun is almost directly overhead, a difficult time to take photos, but this exposure works very well.

    Hello Andre,

The photo, shot without a tripod and without a flash, is remarkably clear, and certainly preferable to a photo with flash illumination. The warm colors and textures are superb. The relatively slow (1/60 sec) shutter speed reveals the motion in the hands of two of the cast members and the petticoat of one of them. Because of the symmetric location of the three women in front of the delineated backdrops, there is a triptych of sorts.

    Warm regards

This is a lovely shot, Kasia, unusually well composed and exposed. There is mysterious atmosphere, created by the woman's total covering... except her hands. Of course, it appears to be a candid shot, as she has not positioned her hands as a model might. The colors and texture came out well.
