    Hi Andrew:

This is one I think I'll need to visit this summer. Good idea to include a boat with character in the shot. Nice reflections and building colors.

Maybe great minds think alike. Last year I got MN, PA, DE, NJ, NH, NY, VT and ME.

Hey Craig: As a sports photographer I am a big fan of motion blur (I posted one sort of like this yesterday). However, most of the sports photos I take need for the action to be frozen and because it is necessary to take a LOT of motion blur photos to get just ONE good one I don't have the luxury of dedicating a lot of time and effort to get that one shot.

The great thing about a well-executed shot like this one is that an f-stop of 16 or 22 or 29 can be used yet the subject is separated from the blurry background, almost like using f2.8 or f4. The blue car against the subdued shades of brown is very effective.

Yes, I am getting geared up for baseball season. I'll be shooting college baseball in California next month and then back to Florida for minor league baseball in April.

    Hi Jason:

I love stuff like this! Looks like you shot from the hip. This is definitely one of those photos that as you're taking it other people (people who just don't 'get it') look at you like you're nuts and I think you found a few, but don't worry about those boring folks. Terrific shot. If I ever get go Salt Lake City I'm going to look for this spot.

    Hi Jason:

Nice wide shot showing both the floor and the ceiling. Just wondering if you had to wait for people to get out of the way or if you had the place to yourself? Pattern on the floor greatly compliments the other curved elements in the photo.

Hello Mariusz: Your wife is right. It does look more like a horse than a bear. Antelope Canyon is spectacular and a fun place to take photos. I'm lucky enough to have been there twice.

Nice color saturation and light management and great choice of subject. I don't think I have seen this view before of the canyon.

Hi Karen: I love this type of split rail fencing. It makes a great foreground for some pretty incredible scenery. Looking at the thumbnail it kind of looks like you were in the Tetons but you obviously were not. The trees are just starting to turn color, a nice way to break up the green in the trees.

    Hello Robert:

On the page of thumbnails this shot just jumped right off my computer screen. Great colors, white clouds (not overexposed and blown out) and the composition breaks the rule of thirds, which is something I like. It looks more like the rule of quarters. Well done.

I like everything about this photo. The star effects from the lights, the seemingly empty street (but we know a few cars went by because of tail light streaks), the texture of the buildings, the random blue-green-aqua colors from other lights, etc. I rarely like photos with a completely black sky but it works in this one. Maybe it would have been nice to have a pedestrian on a sidewalk in the foreground but the photo is just fine without it. Nicely done.

    Hi Amos:

Really cute photo of this little guy. I wonder if he needs glasses. Anyway, I would have liked to see a lot of the left side cropped out. There's nothing there except concrete. The focus is excellent on the subject but I really think a square format or maybe vertical would work well here. It would be an easy fix.

    Hi Brenda:

This is one of those photos that people (non-photographers) really look at you funny as you're taking it because they just don't get it. Nice, dry and cozy inside the bus but nasty outside. Probably pretty quiet on the bus but constant honking of horns outside. A study of contrasts....and making the case for New Yorkers not owning cars.

I'm guessing you took a LOT of photos in order to get just one the way you wanted it. I've done it many, many times. The rider's red shirt and blue jeans really pop in this shot. Very nice motion blur.

Wow, Craig, this is fantastic! Perfect exposure with the right amount of light in the sky and awesome motion shown. And whatever that fire is burning in the tower (I'm sure it's not a fire but it looks like one) it looks like the sun with orbiting planets, or the nucleus of an atom and surrounding electrons. This is why I love photographing Europe so much. Great narrow street, probably a 400+-year-old church, dramatic sky. Your placement of the Auberge Benges metal sign is perfect. The person walking down the hill is okay but I think this would have been a great shot even without him.
