Hello John: This is easily one of the most amusing photos I've ever seen on TE. Both the man and the little girl are going about their business as if nothing at all is out of the ordinary. Surely the guy has to know, right? How could he not feel it dropping on him? What took him so long to realize it and how could he have possibly thought everything would be just fine? This is hysterical!

    Thanks for the laugh..................Greg

Hello again. This almost doesn't look like a real building. It looks like you may have gotten very close to a miniature or toy church. This almost looks like a black and white photo but with only one color added. -42C is WAY TOO COLD!! I commend your dedication to photography to go out in that kind of weather!

Greetings from Florida, where the temperature was probably about 80F when you took this photo.......................Greg

Hello Lyudmila: This is the perfect example of breaking so many rules and getting fantastic results. The noise (grain) that would normally destroy a photo actually enhances this one, and then you compliment the grain. The presentation is great, with the ragged edges of the photo and what appear to be burn marks. It is like this photo was in a fire but you were able to save it just before it burned up. Very well done indeed!

    Hello Claude:

I like looking through your gallery for treasures I may have missed in the past and here is one of them. Experimenting with slow shutter speeds can be both fun and frustrating at the same time. Thankfully we have digital now so we can shoot as much as we need to in order to get the shot we want, plus we can see it right away and make proper adjustments.

    Greetings from Florida...............Greg

By the way, I was glad you read your wife was driving while you did this!

Very nicely done, Ricardo. The road is close to the viewer in the foreground, then passes a house with lots of character at the bottom of the hill, then finally disappears at the top of the next hill. It is like a complete journey in one photograph.

Hello Claude: Nice use of black and white, graphics, pattern, repeating lines and human element. Your use of thirds is very good as well, with the top and bottom thirds having subjects of interest while the middle third is basically empty. Nicely done. Have a great Sunday!

Hi Kasia: 22 points at this point. This photo is very under-appreciated. For this to work you needed the girl to be perfectly placed between the fountains in addition to giving you a profile of her face AND have a lighter background in order to see her silhouetted profile at all. This is a GREAT photo. Did you set this shot up with cooperation from your subject or did you just wait for the perfect moment?

    Hi Pierre,
Interesting that you should post this photo now. I work in the building next door to this, in Brisbane. The building in this photo is the former court house, and is currently in the process of being demolished. It is fenced and covered in scaffolding, with workers dismantling the concrete with a demolition crane and heavy machinery. A new court complex has been built further down the street. In a few weeks the building in your photo will be completely removed. Three towers, one over eighty floors tall will be built on this site over the coming years. Thanks for the historic photo of a site which is soon to look drastically different.

    Hi Andrew:

This is one I think I'll need to visit this summer. Good idea to include a boat with character in the shot. Nice reflections and building colors.

Maybe great minds think alike. Last year I got MN, PA, DE, NJ, NH, NY, VT and ME.

Hey Craig: As a sports photographer I am a big fan of motion blur (I posted one sort of like this yesterday). However, most of the sports photos I take need for the action to be frozen and because it is necessary to take a LOT of motion blur photos to get just ONE good one I don't have the luxury of dedicating a lot of time and effort to get that one shot.

The great thing about a well-executed shot like this one is that an f-stop of 16 or 22 or 29 can be used yet the subject is separated from the blurry background, almost like using f2.8 or f4. The blue car against the subdued shades of brown is very effective.

Yes, I am getting geared up for baseball season. I'll be shooting college baseball in California next month and then back to Florida for minor league baseball in April.

    Hi Jason:

I love stuff like this! Looks like you shot from the hip. This is definitely one of those photos that as you're taking it other people (people who just don't 'get it') look at you like you're nuts and I think you found a few, but don't worry about those boring folks. Terrific shot. If I ever get go Salt Lake City I'm going to look for this spot.
