    Hi Franz,

I should delete this photo without "suitable" note... Who tells me you are really a "IB tester"? :)

Good evening shot that is nicely composed. Thought at first, from the thumbnail, it was shot on the Gower coast in Wales. Bit warmer no doubt.

I like an image where my eyes can linger. Looking at the light the detail, wanting to look further into the distance. This image has it all. The vehicle gives size and space to the mountains and is positioned perfectly giving a splash of vivid colour to an almost colourless backdrop. There is plenty of detail in the landscape. An excellent image.

Forget the rule of thirds. Rules are made to be broken and it is the overall composition of an image that counts and you've scored highly here. You've placed the pebble just to the left of your composition and then your eyes follow the sand to the tide line to the cliffs in the background. Everything works well.

There is a criticism, which is a technical one and I mean it in no way to detract from your fine image but one which could improve your photography in future.

The cliffs are slightly out of focus. This is caused by your f3 aperture and fairly high shutter speed. What I would have done in this situation is to have had the camera tripod mounted and use aperture priority of at least f8. You could then focus on the top tip of the pebble. This could possibly be your hyperfocal point. The point at which, given the aperture and point of focus, would give the image sharp focus from slightly in front of the pebble to the cliffs in the background.

As I said this is a technical criticism. Personally I would love to have come across this scene and captured it as well as you.

This is great. I really like the contrast between the super-crisp buildings and the soft sky. The colours of the buildings and sky compliment each other too.

I like the lights too because they add another "straight line" dimension to the photo and add to its precision.

You have picked up a bit of flare from some of those lights though - it's pretty minor but might be worth removing if you feel the need. I'd also be tempted to crop away some of the sky and have more light trails from cars. I think that would add to the dynamic nature of the photo somehow and make it 'pop' a bit more?

Overall though, a well crafted photo and I'm sure it will attract a lot of attention.

    Bonsoir Christine,

    Hello Christine!

I really think we (Chris & I) should thank you for that great day!
Here again I can see that we had the same framing of that opening on "your world" and it reminds me of an earlier picture of me that I took in Les Baux de Provence...

    Hi Christine,

It looks like I made about the same photo a couple of days ago... But yours is very nicely framed and the contrast between the Van Gogh blue and the "Privé" / "Défense d'entrer" is the main attraction here...
    Very lovely detail indeed!
