    Ciao caro Luciano,

Hee, hee. What a well observed scene! The man looks like he is trying to take a photograph with his tablet while the lady is perhaps writing some notes or drawing a picture.

How clever of you to have observed this and also to have captured it so perfectly. You have isolated this couple perfectly by having the background nicely out of focus. Lovely light and colours and exceptional details and sharpness.

    Brilliant!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hell Neyvan,

You have written a very interesting note and also presented us with a stunningly beautiful photograph!

Your composition is delightful and very pleasing, taking advantage of the lines of the buildings. I really love how you have filled the foreground with beautifully bright and colourful flowers - that is very attractive and also adds to a wonderful feeling of depth in the image.

Lovely light and colours, fine reflections on the calm water, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Jean Claude,

I have to confess that I have never been to this museum, even although Edinburgh is only about 40 miles from where we live. So I must visit this place very soon - your photograph has really inspired me to see it!

This is a beautiful interior shot of this extensive gallery. I like your symmetrical composition which suits the subject perfectly. The details and sharpness are exquisite and allow us to study every fine detail and all the visitors within the place. The light and colours are excellent and your exposure is perfect.

    An excellent upload for TE!

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Ciao caro Carlo,

Yes, I think you have here produced a very individual and very appealing photograph with your very own interpretation!

All the elements in this image are very pleasingly arranged within the frame, especially the tower which is placed perfectly on the "third". The light and colours are very good, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness are excellent. But what I really like is the inclusion of the couple in the foreground walking towards you - the inclusion of human interest is always a bonus!

    Excellent!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Howdy Ray,

You have given us a very interesting and informative note about this place and particularly about the forestry and lumber industry which was very active in times past.

And I love your photograph too - the tall vertical format suits the subject perfectly and certainly adds to the impressions of height, depth and distance. Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and excellent details and sharpness.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Ciao Romano,

I think that this is the very same building as in your last photograph - so you must have been very attracted to it!

And I can understand why you like this place: it must have lots of excellent photographic opportunities. And here you have captured a closer view than in yesterday's photograph - and very cleverly composed it so that we see several big "eyes" looking down at us.

Just a little "spooky" - but a perfectly taken and appealing shot with fabulous colours, perfect composition and exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

    Brilliant!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Bonjour Roland,

This is a delightful photograph of St. Mark's square! We see lots of photographs of this iconic place but your photograph is a delightfully refreshing "new look" at it - the tall tower perfectly framed in an archway which makes it stand out beautifully.

The other thing, of course, is that the tower stands out so well because of its lovely colour: the buildings around it are almost monochrome and the sky is very pale, so the red brickwork of the tower immediately draws our attention to it.

Also he water flooding the square adds some interesting reflections and you were also clever to include the people in the immediate foreground.

A lovely photograph which is very appealing and which has good composition, fine light and colours and exceptional depth of field and sharpness.

    Excellent!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Romano,
Another fine photo from the same building. Again I find the graffaiti paintings remarkable, especially the way they interact with the architecture. It was very cleverly done and your photo is perfectly cropped and with fine light.

    Hello Denis,
A very good observation from a railway station. It is a bright and very eye-catching composition with the paraglider well placed off-centre against the clear blue sky above the compact green area. It is a quite simple but distinct composition where nothing else is needed. The liught is perfect and the colours are beautifully strong.

This is a very charming picture of the nice little girl at the drinking fountain. Her yellow dress brightens the whole photo and also matches the green parts very well. It is a distinct composition with no unnecessary details and a very fine light.

    Hello Brian,

An interesting note and a glorious photograph of London, Tower Bridge spanning the Thames and so many other iconic buildings. And I presume that your photograph was taken from a boat which was in hot pursuit of the one we see about to pass under the bridge.

Beautiful soft light and gorgeous colours and all beneath a lovely warm sky of late summer. Perfect exposure, fine composition and stunning details and sharpness, as always. Could this one be HDR?

    Hello Klaudio,
I was here in 1970, and although I don't have very strong memories I am sure this is among the places in Tehran that haven't changed much in 44 years. Being stuck with a group, limiting the time available, is something I try to avoid as much as possible. Certainly a huge place like this, of such architectural interest, is worth a thorough exploration in a relaxed manner without any time limits.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hej Trevor,
    Gert

    Hello John.
I understand your point of view better than I understand those persons. They got themselves some physical exercise and fresh air, but so did you. But you also got yourself a good photo to show the world, whereas they only may have managed a "birdie" or two. I like this photo for the fine balance between the men at the left, looking right, and the trees to the right. I also like the fine green and brown lower part and the rather thick fog covering the upper twop thirds of the composition.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

This is an interesting photo of what I suppose are the northern suburbs of Tehran. It's a fine mix of road, city area and mountains. I guess I must have travelled this way long ago, but not at this time of the year, and this area must have looked totally different more than 40 years ago.

    Hello Craig,
I think it's quite the contrary: B&W photos are very popular here, because people tend to regard them as more "artistic" and give them smileys out of admiration. :-)
I think I am myself fooled by that trick quite often. ;-)
With this photo I actually like the soft curves of the dunes and the thin but expressive clouds. The footprints meet my demands for human presence in every photo :-) and fortunately I am pretty sure that all those people returned safely to tell of their visit to Death Valley.
    Best wishes,
    Gert

    Hello Bev,

What an interesting note and what a lovely photograph to accompany it!

The light and the colours here are stunning but, unfortunately, this photograph must be one of those which has suffered the very most by being "shrunk" to fit the new TE image size of just 790 pixels wide. Seen at it's "original" size of 900 pixels wide, just as you uploaded it, it is superbly sharp but on the "new" TE website it suffers very badly.

A fine composition with lovely soft light and glorious warm autumnal colours, perfect exposure and excellent sharpness (when viewed at "proper" size).

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Ourania,
If clouds like these are seen in a movie they would probably predict a disaster of a kind, but I guess it wasn't quite as bad here. But they do look rather menacing, but most of all spectacular and very photogenique, and the strange light has also produced a remarkably fine tone of the water.
What if you would see something extraordinary through the windows during class? Can you leave the students for a few minutes to run out for a quick photo? :-)

    Hi Craig,

Black and white might not be very popular here but that doesn't mean to say that it's not well appreciated. And all the more should it be appreciated because black and white is an art form in its own right and often much more difficult in which to succeed than colour.

But you have certainly succeeded here: the light, tones and contrasts are stunning and bring out all the soft undulations of the dunes as well as the intense grittiness of the sand perfectly.

A beautiful and beautifully composed photograph with amazing light and contrasts, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.
