A splendid composition, with strong perspective effect, and well placed figures on the walking path. Lovely light and blue sky over this interesting coast.

    Hello John.
Your 'classic' canal scene, with a new context of colour and light. Lovely colours and reflection, and the typical strong perspective effect. I like most the left side, where the sun is in front of the camera and casts lovely shadows of the trees. Very nice indeed.

    Hi Chris.
I've uploaded a couple of roof-top shots recently, so was quite taken with this one. I like the simplicity of it, relying as it does on the textures of stone and two patterns of the turrets and stairs against the lovely blue of the sky. Superb sharpness and very good exposure of the highlights and shadows. The yellow warning sign doesn't spoil the pic in any way.
    Regards,

    Hello Abmdsudi.
I just had to open this one because the title reminded me so much of a photo I uploaded years ago:
    http://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/France/North/Ile-de-France//photo948087.htm
Yours is a very subtle indoor shot with gentle highlights and rich, dark tones, but also an outdoor shot, well exposed to control the much brighter highlights and also the details on the photographer's clothing. The composition, therefore, is very interesting and successful, and the accidental inclusion of the man in no way lessens the impact of the interior of the mosque. Definitely worth taking the shot with the 'intruder' in it! Great note, too.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hello Huub.
Terrific shot of this very interesting scene, with great note of explanation. I like very much the viewpoint between the palm leaves and the close-up roof tiles on the left. You exposed the shot very well for the whites, including the sky, and the crop is most appropriate. Excellent.

    Hi Bev.
Always useful to have your camera with you, especially to capture scenes like this as the Spring weather changes so quickly and dramatically. The higher res version makes it easier to view the channel of water winding its way to the horizon (or from it) with the sun glinting on its surface. Good exposure of the wonderful clouds, but I wonder if you could have drawn a little more detail out of the silhouetted shadowy area in the foreground.

    Andrew

    Hi Stephen.
Nicely taken from a good angle of view, and here the various coloured vehicles add something to the scene. To me, this looks almost like a street in Paddington, UK, architecturally speaking.

    Hello Krzysztof.
I sense that I would have some problems with this bridge, as I'm not a great 'heights' person. I wonder what you were standing on to get this viewpoint. Superb shot, with good exposure of the detail in the rocks despite the strong contrast in the scene. It looks even more breathtaking in the high-resolution version. Well done, and interesting note.

    Hi Benny.
A beautiful sharp landscape with the added interest of the prayer wheel - thanks for your interesting note. I always like a scene where the eye is drawn from a close-up of something in the foreground (here, the lovely little, gently curved beach - do we see here why it's called the yellow river?) to distant grandeur. You positioned the tower beautifully in the composition. Quite exquisite and elegant, almost like a work of art from the region.

    Hello Ourania.
A very tranquil scene of daily life, making great use of the colour red! I suppose the circumstances you mention in the note have meant it could not be cropped in a way that placed the main subject a bit off-centre. Place it further to lower left corner and I imagine the background quay would enter the picture again! Never mind, it's a nice reflective image.

    Hi Kari.
Really nice shot; it staggers me that no one has yet offered a critique of this. What is wrong with people? You caught this scene in a wonderful late-winter sunshine, which creates the shadows and highlights the colour of the brick-work to make this a lovely architecture shot. Add in the small throng of people and the classic car, and you have the daily-life element as well. The only small problem with this photo is that it appears to have been actually enlarged for this page, rather than compressed (I looked at the original in a new tab) and has lost some sharpness.
One further point - before I looked at the location, the name Finlayson made me think this was somewhere in the USA or UK, an anglophone country anyway, as I have always thought of it as a Scottish name. But perhaps it's Scandinavian, although perhaps not Finnish according to my tiny experience of your language!

    Hello Angel.
Excellent composition and good timing. I love the repeated shapes of the rock 'bridges' and the reflected figure which emerged into the sunlight. I probably would have cloned out of the picture the man's legs on the right. But it doesn't spoil a thoughtfully composed and well exposed photo.

I do like this elegantly simple but well exposed landscape, with its soft Autumn light and pattern of fields and shadows. The diminishing line of vines in the foreground creates a good sense of depth. Nicely done.

    Hi Ana
I like this and the previous shot of this traditionally dressed careto. I prefer this one for the composition, which creates a slightly mysterious, scary scene and atmosphere. I love the tones and textures of the stones and grasses, and the great placement of the careto in the upper corner. Very interesting note, too.

    Hi Steve
Looks great in higher res version. I like the fact that this was taken with an OM series camera - I had one too in the 80s and now have the digital sequel. You did a good job with the scanning and merging to create this very realistic panorama which shows excellent exposure and software treatment of the snow. The result is a lovely and moody lanscape. Very well done.
