    Hi Jean
so now you're making me think about upcoming Autumn shots, i guess it is nearing that time of year isn't it.

even in this white misty air and fog the colours stand out so well. wet and gloomy don't matter when the leaves look like that. interesting subjects with the Crags too

    Hello Gert

Lovely landscape and an excellent composition, considering that you were bumping along in a train at the time. I assume those are rice terraces that we can see on the hillsides beyond the houses. And your scan is pretty damn good as well: maybe some vignetting and a slight green/cyan colour cast, but as sharp as you like, and apparently quite grain-free. I would love to know what you talked to your fellow passenger about (given that you're a journalist!) and what it was like as foreign visitor to China during Deng Xiaoping's period of office...

    Hi Nicolas
although the boats are in the fg, I still think the lime green colour in the water acts like the real focal point.
and that green continues on in the upper bg with the trees too. lots of green :)

good idea to leave the sky OUT, that way the green dominates the frame. excellent lighting and exposure

have you noticed the woman's hair almost matches the woman's Tshirt in the bg, funny how that happens alot.

    Hello Ourania

An unusual and very welcome photograph, that gives TE viewers something different from their usual diet of postcards. I love the dynamism in Cassandra's movement, excellently captured by your choice of shutter speed. I don't know what it was, but it certainly wasn't 30 seconds! I wonder if TE will ever bother to put its house in order...

    Hello Noel

Now this is a fine image, and for some reason, doesn't remind me of Ireland: on first glance, I was thinking Patagonia... But you've created a very satisfying composition, with the holy mountain offset, and the reverse sweep of the beach cutting across the frame. And I assume you used a pretty small aperture, as you've managed a really wide depth of focus, from the mountain right forward to the nearest pebbles. Nice one.

    Hello Lisa

Never tried riding a dinosaur: must try it some time. Your photograph, with its predominantly warm pinks and oranges, makes a delightful seascape. Great composition too, with the camera pointed down slightly to give us plenty of the dinosaur, and a small aperture/wide angle (I assume) gives plenty of sharp depth of focus. Very nice indeed.

    Hello Abmdsudi

In many ways, this reminds me of an old-fashioned English pub! And of course the two establishments are used in very similar ways, as pubs are important community centres as well. I love the dark rich tones, and the quiet conversation. You did well to catch this candid moment without the two apparently noticing your interest in them. A DSLR makes quite a noise when you trip the shutter, so I wonder if there was some background noise maybe? Sadly most British pubs have "musak" these days...

    Hi Bulent
sorry for the late reply, but i'm here now.
this type of museum would be the one's I'd like to spend time in as well. Learning about the good old days of Maritime travel dating back to the 13th century. very cool indeed.
this would have been quite the ship back in its day, I wouldn't want to sail across it.

I like the chiaroscuro effect here. And I think you've done more than just simulate Kodak TMax here: presumably you've suppressed all colours apart from red. The near-silhouettes work really well. I just wish we could hear the singer as well.

    Hello Beatrice

This looks almost too pretty to be one of your photographs! Is this your attempt to ingratiate yourself with the TE fraternity by showing postcards??! But it's certainly a delightful spot, and the monochrome, though not particularly popular on this site, is nevertheless beautifully graded. Looks almost as if you'd used the Zone System!
