    Hi Piotr
    wonderful wonderful shot.
the glimmer and shine of the materials is something we just don't see very often, if ever.
The Mosaic is certainly one of the hightlights to this scene.
also, I like the angle, the depth, and the perspectives.
    sweet shot my friend

    Hi Will
whats this? a UFO landed and you had a close encounter? haha

I'm a big fan of all of these types of photography, I wish we could see more of them here on TE.

love the total contrast between the two subjects, one circular and one vertical.

cool to see the rivets and the bottom and all the geometric shapes and lines - well presented

I think we saw this on FB too right?
excellent cut and crop of the building and its reflection on the glass. Not sure how you could possibly improve on this one!

Sounds like an interesting place to visit too, some good some not so good moments - but thats why we travel!

    Hi Stephen
gotta love those old classic arch doorways, there's just something so photogenic about them - we always want to take a picture when we see it.

surprising to see how small the clock face is, seems to be a pattern in these old old buildings.

excellent subject in this harsh lighting condition, very charming and historic overall.

    Ciao caro Carlo,

This is a stunningly beautiful shot and I think much of its beauty derives from its sheer simplicity.

Your composition is simple yet strong, the only interruption in the progression from nearest foreground to the horizon being a slim line of land and the row of bright yellow buoys strategically placed across the frame.

Gorgeous light and colours, stunning reflections, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Bonjour Christian,

This is a very fine photograph of this lovely mill, well composed and made all the more attractive on account of the presence of a few brightly dressed visitors in the frame.

The light, as in all of your photographs, is beautiful and you have managed it well with fine contrasts. The sky in particular is beautiful, making a fine backdrop to the sails of this ancient mill. Good natural colours, wonderful textures in the old stonework and exquisite details and sharpness.

You have written an interesting note but I am surprised that you find difficulty in posting vertical format images. I wonder what is the problem?

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. Your workshop, using "Shift N" has straightened the verticals very well here - it's now totally perfect!

    Hello Jean,
This is really a beautiful building which would inspire anyone with the faintest interest in medieval architecture. The modern additions of tables and chairs make the place look very inviting, regardless if the chairs are just intended for those who want to rest their feet or if there is actually a café inside. The colours are mild but have very fine tones of green and yellow.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hej Gunnar,

    Bonjour Juliette,

I remember that you showed us this red topped lighthouse before but this is a delightful shot, showing not only the larger lighthouse with its red top but also its smaller green topped "companion"!

I love your strong composition and the good "lead in" lines of the wooden railings which lead us into the distance to the little outcrop of land and beach.

Beautiful light and colours, perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. You mentioned in your note that you were not entirely happy that the larger lighthouse was not completely straight. I hope you will not be offended, but I have done a very quick workshop for you in an attempt to straighten it.

    Bonjour Jean Jacques,

Another fabulous photograph from your trip to Troyes, this time of the two upper storeys of a half timbered building taken with a fine almost symmetrical and very pleasing composition.

But it is the light which makes this one so special: that light which strikes the façade of the building obliquely and which so brings out all the textures of the old woodwork and plasterwork so beautifully. The colours are perfect and the pink flowers in the windows "lift" the image beautifully.

Perfect exposure and stunning details and sharpness.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

What an interesting note you have written, particularly about this tall tower and these presence of a nurse station at the top!

And what a beautiful aerial view of the city below in this finely composed photograph, the tall distant spires standing out against a clear blue sky and the bright red roofs filling the foreground.

    Hello Gunnar,

How wonderful to see you back posting photographs again! I've just noticed that this is only the second picture which you have uploaded this year - but this one has certainly been worth all the waiting!

As always, you've given us a fascinating and very informative note. I presume that the legend refers to the building of the original church in the 13th century and not to these more recent restorations?

You have, of course, shown us wonderful photographs of stave churches before, but never one on such a grand scale and with such tall and complex proportions as this one. To me it almost looks more like a fairy-tale castle than a church.

And your photograph is truly stunning: the light is beautifully soft, the colours rich and vibrant and your composition excellent and pleasing. And even when viewed at its full size of 3000 x 2725 pixels, it is stunningly clear and sharp.

I do look forward to seeing many more of your pictures again soon.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Steven,

Today must be a day of names: I've just critiqued a photograph of Claude (CLODO) showing a butcher's shop belonging to Mr. Beef and now we see the premises of a French coffee and tea seller rejoicing in the less than familiar Callic name of Flaherty!

Very well spotted and very well taken! But there's a lot more to this picture than the name above the shop: your composition is excellent and you have captured the magnificent half timbered façade of this building beautifully with its rich colours and beautiful reflections of the blue sky in its windows. Even the lone boy sitting outside Mr. Flaherty's shop adds nicely to the foreground and aids the composition too.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Jean,

Gosh, this reminds me so much of the picture I recently uploaded from Tissington Hall, also in Derbyshire, but your photograph has much more depth and foreground interest as well as a lot more lovely colour.

O.K, the sky is a bit bright but there's nothing really that you could have done about that and, of course, the sky occupies only a tiny fraction of this delightful picture. I love your strong diagonal composition with the line of the pathway leading us past the inviting table and chairs and the colourful border to the distant view of those lovely huge windows which must allow the ingress of so much light.

The light is beautifully soft, your colours true yet vibrant and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.
