    Hello Karolina,
Here's a photo of a kind I always love to take. A cute child with colorful clothes in a colorful part of a street. A nice vertical crop of a fine glimpse of daily life. I like it.

    Hello Chris,
It's a slight surprise to find this almost Riviera like beach in this place, but why not? It's still not too crowded and the scenery is just as beautiful as anywhere else.
As for Shkoder or Shkodra, Tirana/Tiran, Berat/Berati etc I never understood which version to use. The explanations don't make much sense to me. Even the Albanians seem a bit confused :-)

    Gert

    Hello Les,
This is a beautiful and very interesting photo. The Bronze Age circle is fascinating, even more so from the knowledge that it is usually covered with water. It is also a very carefully composed photo with a wonderful light and colours and well treated clouds. The workshop photo is equally interesting even though the location is less captivating.
    Kind regards,

    Hello Silvio

This place reminds me, both in terms of the amphitheatre itself and in the proximity of all the surrounding buildings, of the Roman theatre in Lecce. I wonder if you know it? I like your choice of understated, natural colours, and the sweep of the Roman seating.

    Hello Frank,
This is a fine and original photo that immediately caught my intention. It's a nice portrait, even if you didn't take it yourself, and the combination with the house at Vesterbro makes this quite thought-provoking and poetic, so the inclusion of the poem by Tove Ditlevsen (I think she is quite well known in Sweden too) comes very naturally.
    Best wishes,

    Hello Ourania,
That title makes me imagine the man is talking to his shadow. It seems that some people who use their phones to isolate themselves from the nearest surroundings would be only too happy to use their shadows as their closest friend. The cracks in the road could symbolize this isolation.
It's a great photo, very well cropped and in beautiful B&W tones, and it's a photo that stimulates my imagination. Not many photos really do that.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

A beautiful and unspoilt landscape. The track in the foreground seems to beckon us to follow it, as I expect you did! The overcast sky is at once appropriate and has more visual interest than a plain blue sky.

    Hello John

Well the sharpness seems fine at least at the size we're allowed to post on this site. The birds looks as if they're dancing, holding wings (not that that's possible...) What a wonderful capture. I'm so disappointed for you that it hasn't attracted more attention. But there's nowt so queer as folk.

That backpack was the reward for your long trek. It is part of the important human presence and brightens the view enormously. The scenery itself is terrific and the small patches of snow are very nicely reflected.

    Hello Jasmine

I've never been afraid of slight under-exposure, and it's certainly worked here beautifully, to inject a serious dramatic edge to the photograph. The lowering clouds counterpoint the impressive frontage catching the sunlight very well. Composition too is strong and thirdsy. It perhaps looks a little too "processed" for my taste (I'm pretty sure it didn't come out of the camera like this!) Nevertheless, a nice one.

    Regards

    Hello Delphine

I'm certainly surprised to hear that so many folk walk these longer remote routes, but I suppose it's true in the UK too: our long distance paths like the Pennine Way have created a mini-economy in B&Bs, pubs amd refuges. I love the composition here: foreground interest, mountain and blue sky, with a selected few hikers. Without them in fact, I feel the shot would not work so well...

    Hello Lisa

I've been in the Paragon several times! We had the best chocolate cake ever in here: and we'd just come from Vienna, where the famous Sachertorte (eaten in the Caf Sacher) was not a patch on Katoomba's offering! I took some photos inside - I expect you did too - and love the Art Deco decoration, visible of course in your image of the entrance. Last time we were there, we stayed in the Clarendon on Lurline Street: another slighly eccentric Katoomba institution. Thanks for the memories!
