    Ciao carol Silvio,

The scene is so majestic and so beautifully photographed that I realize only residents of Spoleto would have the opportunity to see it as it is here, on one occasion in a thousand visits. Excellent depth-of-field, color fidelity, and composition.

    Warm regards,

A very colorful photo, with the intense red of the woman's dress adding further highlight. Well composed with excellent depth-of-field.

    Hello Gert,

The cobblestoned streets, and the logarithmic spirals of the bracket holding the sign are especially appealing for me. I imagine this is in the old city part of Tallinn.

I saw for the first and only time in late June 2010, and loved it. There was great optimism in the air especially with the increasing numbers of visitor, and the improving economy. Later when we met friends in Stockholm, they reported that Tallinn had become a favorite place for young visitors. Did you perceive any anxiety after Mr. Putin's adventures in the Ukraine?

    warm regards,

    Hello Noel,

It is always a pleasure to read your notes, especially when they present your photos in their historical context. The photo is first rate, with the silhouette of the ruins of the edifice representing a counterpoint to the sunburst created by the sun.

    Merhaba sevgili Mesut,

I have always admired the stained glass of Marc Chagall. The close up shot reveals the details very effectively of this window. In my book, Math and the Mona Lisa, there is an image in color of a March Chagall stained glass in the United Nations (2008 yilinda Istanbul'u ziyaret ettigimde san vermistim). There are 8x5 panels creating a golden rectangle. I wonder if the work here, if seen in whole, also reveals a golden rectangle.

    Sevgiler, Mesut,

    Hello Ialob,

You've framed the old monastery very effectively with the arch. The frescos on exterior are unusual, since such artwork is usually reserved for the interior of such buildings. It's remarkable that they have survived the elements. Finally, wonderful informative note.

    Hello Jean,

In June 2010 I was at the same spot. I must admit this scene is more beautiful in the winter, when the roofs are all covered in snow than in the summer. Nicely composed, and perfectly exposed photograph.

    Hello Stephen,

This is the first photo I've seen from Tasmania other than the rugged coastal scenes. While sailing through Milford Sound we arrived at the fjord's opening into the Tasman Sea. Just 1600 km (1000 miles) away was Hobart, but I felt as close as I would ever get to it physically. Some years ago, the son of a physicist colleague accompanied a close friend to Tasmania. His friend, an American, was to marry a Tasmanian girl whom he met in university in America. My colleague's son was to serve as the best man. The two young men arrived in Hobart after traveling 12,000+ miles, only to find that the prospective bride had changed her mind.

    Hello dear Ali,

A wonderful portrait of the elderly Turkmen, sitting with her carpets. The vivid vegetable colors are so much more natural than artificial dyes that are used elsewhere. In the sharp photo, there is so much detail in the waft, weave and textures of the carpets, as well the lines on the woman's face.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Nikos,

This is a wonderful example of photographic art, well composed and open-ended. It invites interpretation, and you'll get as many different interpretations as the numbers of viewers. I works especially well in B&W. My grandfather was born in Thessaloniki, and on a visit in 2006, I had the pleasure of seeing the street where he grew up with his close friend, Mustafa Kemal, who became "Ataturk." And I walked along this pier.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Brian,

I lived in London as a child, and returned frequently afterwards for lengthy stays. I would never have expected the imaginative architectural wonders to proliferate... virtually at abandon. You captured the Greenwich Peninsular in a manner revealing its engineering and its aesthetic features. It is a well-composed shot, sharp and well-lit.

I agree with you, Takero. With shallow depth of field you can get very good results. But in this case, these lovely young ladies are all in focus, and produce a very good group profile photo. The rubber bands that hold the hats are a little distracting, but the photo is first rate, as usual.

Indeed, I can see the Irish harp and a very good composition in presenting this image. The lack of quality in pixelation is not to worry about, considering you don't have your software. Did you get a chance to meet Noe while you were in Dublin?

There is an ethereal quality, indeed surrealistic, evocative of a Salvador Dali painting. Just four months ago I was in Northern Ireland and saw many wondrous scenes, but nothing quite as ethereal. Warm regards,

    Lovely shot, Clodo.

The light is subdued, but the image is sharp as a razor. I like the geometric shapes, and the reflections in the glass. A few years ago, I had an invitation to give a talk at the Manchester Philosophical Society, but could not attend. This is one city I've long wanted to see, a history of great writers, scientists and football teams.
