    Hello Malgorzata,

You are by far the best advertisement for Cinque Terre. You had spectacular light to view the town, that I saw from the deck of a ship several kilometers off shore. You version, featuring brilliant sunlight, obsidian sharp resolution, vivid colors and impressive depth-of-field, is better than any postcard.

    Warm regards,

    Hello dear Constantino,

A very appropriate name, "Captain Dog," for this photo of the dingy coming into the port in Samos. I've never visited the island, but I've viewed it from Miletus on the Turkish Coast. The colors are vivid and the resolution excellent. I like the note very much also.

    Warm regards, Constantino,

    Salam Saber,

This is one of the best architectural portraits I've seen from Iran. The symmetric depiction of the 14th century building, its exquisite mosaics and tiles, the colors, and the sharpness all collaborate to make this a first rate photo. The note is a special bonus. I've learned a great deal. The word "Cami" (pronounced "Jami" in Turkish, describes a mosque). Are the words "Jāmeh Mosque" a redundancy, like "Mosque Mosque?"

    Warm regards,

    Bonjour Nicolas,

This is one of the finest photos in your gallery, among the finest photos on Trekearth. The shimmering light in the lower area adds a special effect, but it is the clarity of the silhouettes of the trees, and the glow of light in the mist and in the distance that makes this photo so special. Warm regards,

    Hello Beverley,

I had never seen a photo of the famous radio telescope Jodrell Bank before. It is indeed massive, and historically significant first to have discovered radio waves from the Andromeda Galaxy, pulsars, and Einstein's gravitational lens effect. Artistically, it is a very good photo with reflections and refractions. The presence of visitors at its base provides scale. Warm regards,

    Dear Lars,

Sometimes you can get much better detailed photos than one the sunlight is directly on the subject, creating harsh shadows. I think you've done very well with the exposure here, and certainly extremely well in the composition.

    Hello Vasilis,

I like very much the colors and textures in this photo, as well as the low point of view you've chosen. Whoever constructed the two cabinets (or one, depending on your point of view) was clever in slicing the barrel right down the middle vertcally.

    Hello Georg,

This is a spectacular photo of the Castle De Haar, with its wide moat. I'm surprised such a structure dates not to 15th-16th centuries, but to the 19th. The reflected light shimmering in the waters of the moat raises the photo to the level of a first rate architectural portrait, especially with the two-point perspective you've chosen.

    Warm regards, Georg,

    Hello Brenda,

Fascinating concept with the cutouts mimicking the leaves. I am puzzled by the mirrors, however. Could the artist not have used any other opaque material for the light to filter through. Excellent shot, as usual, complemented by an engaging note.

    Ciao Gianfranco,

You captured her soul in this beautiful portrait! The girl's expression, the colors and sharpness are all spectacular. Even placing her left eye on the vertical bisector is a masterful, if unintentional strategy. According to the "Centerline principle,"
In 1998 Dr. Christopher Tyler, an English born psychologist living in San Francisco, made a remarkable discovery regarding single-subject portraits: in the preponderance of great portraits spanning the centuries, the centerline passes through one eye not the nose, not the ear. It could be the leading eye (as in the case of this rabbi) or it could the trailing eye. All three portraits of young women painted by Leonardo (including in the most famous portrait in the history of art), in countless portraits by Rembrandt, in many paintings by van Gogh and even Picasso. It is a principle never taught in art schools, and yet one that the great artist discovers intuitively. See for example, Rembrandt's Portrait of the Old Rabi.

    Warm regards,

    Bulent
