I don't know if you remember me... :-)
Just had a look at TE. I might come here one or twice a year... And I saw your 10 years anniversary photo. 10 years?! In this world of fleeting moments, where we surf from one social media to the other, it speaks volumes.
    So... let me congratulate you.
I hope you are happy and that life is good with you...

    Hi Benny
Terrific composition placing the photographer and setting sun in opposing corners. The not-quite a silhouette is very effective against the red tones. It's also an interesting testament to the digital age - these days we recognise immediately what the person is doing; fifteen years ago, or even less, we would not have done so.

A very appealing photo, nicely cropped and framed, and with a strong sense of perspective. The overhanging tree and the flowers add colour and interest to the scene. I think your note is really interesting, too. Thank you.

A really good landscape/seascape. Great foreground interest, with the rock almost reaching out of the picture. Nicely composed and muted exposure which allows the colour to come through.

    Hello Stephen
Those towers are immediately recognisable. And there's one end of the Charles Bridge on the extreme left. I took a shot of this moored boat, which I think is a restaurant, quite a few years ago, from the bridge itself. I do like the gentle, almost pastel tones of this photo, and your viewpoint.

A very pleasing shot, which has the lady well positioned in your square crop. I like the dappled light coming through the vines and the feeling of depth which comes from the columns in the background. Well done.

    Hello Serghei
Like you, I have posted a D-Day photo; it was good to find someone else had decided to mark the occasion. It's a great, bright shot - sharp, clear and well cropped. I can understand why you have angled it with a strong tilt. I like the way the aircraft and its colourful paintwork dramatically dominate this photo. Good note, too.

    Greetings Gildas
    I like your note!
You have captured a beautiful winter light (afternoon light, I think) in this photo, even with your modest equipment! The grasses beside the water add an earthy colour tone and texture - perhaps they create a 'golden basket'! I very much appreciate the human figures on the small hill in this park. Interestingly, only the partly hidden suburban buildings indicate that this is an urban location.

    Hi Luciano
Great shot! Brings much amusement. I've seen numerous wonderful trompe l'oeil murals in France (a great one, very large, in Lyon, for example) and Brussels; this is one of the most clever. Your composition is good, too, including the wall of the building on the right to create depth. The mural is well blended with the wall. Well done.

    Andrew

    Hi Petar
I know what Noel is saying, but to me it does look depressing and not at all new. The external plumbing, for a start, gives it away. There is nowhere near enough shiny glass for this to be a new Abu Dhabi building. I like the rather dismal pattern you chose for the composition and the b/w treatment - it's altogether so unlike Abu Dhabi!

    Hello Jorge
My heartiest congratulations on achieving this milestone and over 2,700 photos!
I haven't seen many photos from Namibia, but I'm surprised at the rich garden surroundings of this well-kept lighthouse. I suppose this place is one legacy of the colonial past. You've composed the shot well to make a good use of the carpet of spring flowers in the foreground. Good exposure leaving plenty of shadows.

    Hello Serghei
An extremely bold and well timed capture, also a good exposure of the snow.
But I am going to make one criticism - the image loses its impact because it will not fit vertically on my large screen. I should not have to scroll to see all of it. It really depends on being able to see both the church and the person walking along the track at the same time. Please upload 'portrait' shots with 1200 pixels vertical side as an absolute maximum - 1000 pixels is better. At the moment, TE does not automatically make 'portrait' orientated shots smaller; only 'landscape' shots are reduced in size.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hello Silvio
A very successful picture, very atmospheric, with the composition bringing the eye always back to the man leaning against the column. The light is the key to the shot, as well as the stream of people going up and down the old steps. Perhaps I would crop a little from the bottom - that is a large expanse of shaded brick piazza in the foreground.

    Andrew

    Hi Rosemary
I like the simplicity of this shot, and some of the questions it promotes, which you refer to in your note. And, who ARE Harald and Deike, and what are they like, apart from being farmers? I like this aspect of the photo.
The stylised silhouettes reminded me of some of the (no doubt un-PC these days) books I came into contact with in my childhood - 'Epaminondas and his Aunty' or somesuch, and 'Little Black Sambo', even 'Uncle Remus'? Perhaps the cut-outs depicted here are harmless enough; I don't know how they would be viewed by the indigenous people.
Anyway, the subject was well noticed and nicely framed in what is also a landscape picture. Well done.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hello Bulent
    Shakespeare's 450th today, actually!
This one's a nicely exposed shot which makes good use of the highlights in the paintings themselves. I don't mind the blurry people - they add a touch of movement to the scene, but I think it's a pity the person on the right intruded into the picture and lessened the impact of the official staring at the group. I don't think you can crop here, as the official is a required element in this shot, I think.
I'm glad to see you have uploaded a higher res version which actually fits on a 24" monitor; many don't.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hello Bartosz
A good group portrait of mother and children in their village. The stormy sky adds drama to the scene. The woman seems very tall, in keeping with her Masai heritage. Her clothes contribute some bright colours to the earthy tones of her surroundings.
