    Hello Emmanuel.
A good daily life photo, even without people in it. The window shutters provide some bright colour, and the photo includes the complete shadow of the washing. Other interesting patterns and textures complete a good photo.

    Greetings Gert.
A dramatic photo, making the most of the light and shade and with an excellent focal point in the turned head of the boy in the foreground, perhaps with his schoolbag. There is a bleakness about the rocky rubble and the stark buildings, but also a warmth in the colour tones. The sky is almost too rich, but makes a superb combination with the scene below it. Very interesting note as usual. I liked the inclusion of your diary entry.
    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hello Roland.
A very pleasing photo. I would like it even without the wonderful reflection because of the light and shade and the happy group of people enjoying the cafe scene in the sun. Interesting how the reflection shows us things which are hidden by the tree. Well seen and well captured.

    Hello Krzysztof.
A lovely photo and very interesting note from another place I would love to visit. So many emigrants from such a small country! Many have come to Melbourne, including my hairdresser. I like your panoramic crop and a composition which shows very well the high-rise buildings around the harbour. I enjoyed looking at the high-resolution version of this one.

    Hello Christiane.
A really lovely shot, taken from a well chosen angle. I like the sunlit square at teh end of the shadowy street, and the marvellous old buildings. The horse and carriage just adds to the mood. Very nice indeed.

    Hi Gyorgy.
Superb shot, and this time I agree with use of the heavy framing! I love the pose of the interesting/amusing man carrying the rake and the way his old-world white garb catches the slanting sun. The other man looks super-hip. Beautiful rendering of shadow and light.

    Hello John.
An excellent closely cropped composition, forcing the focus on the woman's face and then leading the eye to the card in her hand. You've really made the most of the red - one might almost say vermillion? - cloak, and the folds in the cloth of her garments. Very sharp work.

    Hi Ian.
I see you had a lovely day in Noto, with a great sky to complement the tones of the baroque buildings. I recognized this before I'd even registered the place or your name. You got about as much in as you can from the viewpoint position. I think any distortion removal would mean the loss of the lady in the bottom left, and anyhow it looks great and represents the style of architecture superbly. I like the human element in the foreground, too.

    Hello Gyorgy.
Of course, I had to have a look at the previous photo! I think this one works very well, looking through the timbered 'window'. Perhaps the black framing was unnecessary, but the panorama is indeed impressive with a well detailed sky overhead and something I always like to see - the cloud shadows over the landscape. Just as a matter of interest, what is the 35mm equivalent of your tiny 3.2mm lens?

    Hello Emmanuel.
Very good viewpoint for this photo. The curving street, the strong verticals, and the way the church towers over the scene, dwarfing everything else. Of course, your timing was excellent, catching the motorcyclist coming straight towards you. The colours and blue sky also add to the delights of this photo.

    Hello Daniel.
An unusual view of the palace, which is usually captured with a wide angle shot. I like the long view and the great depth of the scene. Your shot makes the most of the people and those white statues. Nice work.

    Hello John.
A very nicely balanced photo, taken with good timing. I like the way the sheep come so close to the 'front' of the scene. And of course the dogs in the background. You captured the light nicely on the sheep's wool, but not over-exposed. Very nicely done, with an interesting note.

    Hello Takero.
A wonderful daily life street scene, with the blind musician and the huge doll so well placed. You saw the potential and executed the photo really well. Good composition places the man in the lower corner, and his 'sweetheart' above him, watching. Very well done.

    Hello Denis.
A typically well composed scene, so nicely cropped, with a beautiful result from the light falling on those lovely houses and the white paint of the many boats. I think it is a typical Breton scene, although I did not visit Sauzon when I was in Bretagne.

    Hi Craig.

The most photographed castle in Scotland? I when I was a boy my UK grandmother used to send us shortbread in tins with typical postcardy shots of it on the lids.

I've stopped quite a few times to write a critique of a photo of the castle, and of course if you know anything about its history and look at my surname you'll be able to work out why! I've been there a few times myself, and found that no matter what the weather conditions one can find an angle which provides a dramatic photo.

Anyway, you found an angle to distinguish your photo from many others of the castle on TE. Castle itself is well positioned in the wide angle view, and the light on the water behind the bridge reinforces the arches. Great reflection and nice algal mucky stuff on the water.

Did you know the castle was more or less destroyed in the 18th century (see pics on this site http://www.eileandonancastle.com/about/history/ ), and was rebuilt according to the vision of a Farquhar McRae in the early 20th century?

I suppose you might have a McIntosh castle somewhere; I'll have to have a gander at your other Scotland photos.

    Regards,
    Andrew

    Hello Serghei.
A beautiful capture of the sun's rays streaming through the haze. I love the dusty road, the shadows, and the steel gates shrouded in the mist. I hope I can make one suggestion - I think you could crop about 40%of this photo from the top; I have done it on my screen by scrolling, and I think the top part is unnecessary.

A marvellous shot. Making a great landscape scene even better. We see what the two are seeing, and can wonder at their thoughts and words. The branches above create a nice frame effect in this well proportioned picture. And you could take it without their realising, always a boon!

    Hello Paul.
Your excellent note complements this great daily life scene very well. An unpretentious photo of ordinary people making an unpretentious celebration of their independence day. I presume you were leaning out of a window to take this one. You managed to get a good angle of view. I hope you'll show more photos of Colombia, the country of Gabriel Garcia Marquez. Did you visit Aracataca, I wonder.
