    Young handsome guy ;-)

To my VERY big surprise i see you posting here...man i didn't know that. I was following the link you send me. And see here, Namibia, high on my list but you were first once again. Seeing this one and the other ones you shot from there i can only say, awesome high quality work my friend. A place i really would like to go, just as the high dunes and the Dead Vlie
Light is gorgeous, just as the gradient in the sky and the composition.....full moon is a huge bonus of course.
You stiil know how to produce appealing images my friend, we need to go out shooting together again...if you don't come over here than i am forced to visit you in JB ;-)

Take care buddy, big hugs for both of you!!!!

Your friend from the north ;-)

    Hey Mark ;-)

I have an image in my mind about a picture from this church against the mountains and your version comes very close to what i have in mind. Snow on the peaks, great light on the church, deep greens (i need in fact snow on it) and that other beauty far away for mking the whole scenery complete. One thing i need to bring...a chainsaw to cut down those trees ;-)

Just like Kristine i see some halo effect around the mountains, but is not really disturbing, it's all about that church that looks very good.
Good you go out with your mkII, you did not bought that thing to keep it in your bag whole winter in that great surrounding ;-)

So now and then i'm peaking in here (only look at some peoples pictures, no forum), and seeing you're back, something i will not do, but it's good to see some work from your hand.

    Take care my German friend,

    Henk

Hey Giant...i thought you had all your Dutch shots lost, seems this one survied.
I know where you stood, i think i passed this place hundreds and hundreds of times without stopping or even thinking in taking one single picture. You see, when living here i see nothing, while you present a picture-perfect postcard from Groningen.
At least you put this town on the map here, i think thousands of extra tourists will come out next year and flood the city ;-)
How is life buddy, all well in SA? Wrote you a mail with Bjork inside to your GMail account, hope you got it.

    My friend,
Thanks for you words man, they mean a lot to me, you know that. Yes it's also crap crap crap on the other side, like on every web site, so what's new? High quality is hard to find, but also that is no surprise.
I don't miss this here, i still follow some members and the things they upload, but that's all. The other side has much more international impact, Getty is involved and for these small reasons i'm there, although i'm not prentensious at all in what i make and deliver down there.
Furthermore i'm uploading worldwide thousands of images, you know where and on which places...at the end that brings more than typing on a web site which i hardly do anymore.
How is life in SA, you are enjoying it? I was planning to send an email to your Videotron address, but maybe it's wiser to use the Gmail account? Let me know on the other side because i don't read the forum anymore here.
Take care my friend, and give the precious Wanda a big hug from me ;-)
    p.s
One day we have to go out again, the two of us, and shoot these fall colours our self in Quebec or New England ;-)

    Hi Olivier,

Wonderful light on the church, a warm glow which stands proud against that blue above and the dark almost silouette toning below.
I see some dustspots in the blue nearn and in between of the two towers.

    Hi Kari,

I've never been to Brugge, but all pictures i saw from it here on TE are more or less the same, so what a surprise to see something else. No idea they also had a nice plaza, but when being there on a sunny lazy afternoon it surely looks inviting in takeing a seat there...

    Hallo Philipp,

These scenes are classic, but especially in vertical format they can bring a lot of perspective depth when we also have focal points in the background and that is exactly what you have here.
A bit more EXIF info would be nice knowing how long the time-exposure was for example, but the blue hour and the exposure it self is very good and brings out a very good image in front....well done.

    Have a nice weekend,

    Henk

    Hello Karen,

These old pumps you don't see anymore, at least not here in Europe. Reminders from the past and that's exactly what i like about this picture...a blast to the past...
Lovely deep colours, another thing that i like to see...crisp and bright and very colourful.

    Hallo Paul,

I read about this area and his dry weather and when driving here i saw inded a lot of these dark brown colours around me. It's an interesting note that comes with the picture and is essential to understand what's going on here. Light was not your best friend here, it's hard and not easy to control.

Een heel rustieke foto, de eenzaamheid en rust van het landschap komen hier heel mooi binnen. De warme tinten aan de horizon en de maan linksboven geven de foto een mooie sfeer...hopelijk had je niet al teveel last van mosquitos ;-)

    Hi Jim,

Looks like if the grass was frozen, or at least it looks very cold in that shadow part in front. Of course the fog and the warm colour toning in the middle section is the strong part in this image and looks absolute great. On the left has the blue a bit of a halo on top of the trees, but is not really disturbing the scenery.

    Take care,

    Henk

Timing and well thought on the exposure and the treatment in the digital darkroom is well done. But also your pov and the vertical composition is what i like, the steep road works fantastic...i really like this one.

Funny, i stood here myself a few years ago and have somewhere more or less the same shot.
It's a classic pov but everytime a joy to see the Matterhorn in a clear blue sky.

    I'm going fishing.
    I got me a line.
Nothin' I do's gonna' make the difference.
    So I'm taking the time.
And you ain't never gonna' be happy.
    Anyhow, anyway.
    So I'm going fishing.
    And I'm going today.
    I'm going fishing.
    Sounds crazy I know.
    I know nothing about fishing.
    But just watch me go.

Lyrics: Gone Fishing - Chris Rea

Sounds a good idea George when the weather is good, some sunshine, away from the computer, going out...enjoy the low morning sun, get a skin burn during the day (just like this pal). Put a good lure on and sitting there watching the line...is there anything nicer to do on an early morning summer day?

I think i will grab some Tulips and put them online ;-)

    Hi Kristaps,

Getting far from the main road and this is what we get...GREAT..!!! Crystal clear with deep colours in this amazing landscape. That road that goes all the up at the left...a great touch and all the fresh green...looks good in May...and it seems here the weather was not that bad. But from what you already told us, it was not how it should be in May. Nevertheless you got a good one here, from an area not many people come...perfect.

    Dear Kristine,

I feel the tears in your eyes, all those years, thinking about it and then finally being there...and then realizing it was all for nothing.
Okay the weather you can't control, no one to blame, but that thing called phototour. turned out to be a big selling add about nothing...!!!

Also i have this dream about walking there, making these pictures, but now reading this...i hold back, What to do...go there or not...and how, in what kind of tour?
Yes i will go and no dumb f**k with his point-and-shoot will put me aside, that's for sure. But when walking there with so many people, they get on my nerves...can i make those shots is the next question?

2 weeks ago i saw these pictures, taken early May...and if you feel good look at them..!!!! Looking at these shots is for me a reason to go...and for you to go back...one day...because what he can we also can...hold on to that thought.

I had plans to buy a Pro 14/m/m lens for only these shots...not afraid for other tourists standing in my way, but when the weather is no good, how do i ever earn that money back which i spend on that 14m/m?
I need some second thoughts about that ;-)

Meanwhile a big hug from my side, because i feel your sorrow about the results you've got...and not what you had in your mind. Kristaps already told me about this so called little disaster trip...reading your note i understand every word from it.

Look at me...smile...and say; next time i make those damn pictures..!!! ;-)

    Take care,

    Henk
