    Hello Gert,

Another three fine photographs from your travels in China thirty years ago, two lovely landscape pictures from the train and one of a rather busy station where you could obviously refresh yourself by buying lots of food to sustain you during your day and a half long journey.

The villages look delightful although they may well have been lacking in any sort of comforts and the local people in them probably worked very hard for a meagre living. But the landscapes are quite pretty and with lovely colours.

    As always, a fascinating note.

    Excellent!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hi Jean
so now you're making me think about upcoming Autumn shots, i guess it is nearing that time of year isn't it.

even in this white misty air and fog the colours stand out so well. wet and gloomy don't matter when the leaves look like that. interesting subjects with the Crags too

    Hello Gert,

A fascinating note and a group of lovely photographs to accompany it. We did, of course, see your previous photo but the other two workshop pictures really do set the scene for your main post here. I particularly like the picture of the fishermen.

I can fully understand why you didn't get many pictures if you were struggling through narrow tunnels and along narrow ledges with precipitous drops below - but this main one is a fine photograph of this little temple which, indeed, seems to be crammed with tourists too.

And all photos are excellent considering that they have been scanned from old Kodachrome slides.

    Wonderful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Rob,

I can imagine that this is a view which many photographers here would have thought it best to avoid - far better to concentrate on taking what they might think were more attractive scenes - but they would have been wrong. Here you have excelled at producing a fine "graphic" image - which you do so well - from what might be thought very "ordinary" items - a red fence and girders and a distant view partially obscured by wire netting.

But it all "works" so very well to provide a well composed photograph with strong lines, strong colours, perfect exposure and excellent sharpness - but, above all, instant appeal!

    Fabulous!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hi Casper,

This is truly an inspired shot! Many of us wouldn't even think of taking a photograph in such adverse lighting conditions - but that would have been our loss!

I love the way the long shadows of the legs of the person walking towards you from the sun seem to go on forever while that fabulous golden glow strikes up from the pavement and lights the cyclist on the right.

A brilliant photograph, clearly showing the heat of the sun on this day in London.

    Fabulous!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Jean,

Yes, she certainly is in a hurry, so much so that she's forgotten to put on her clothes - but I really do like how you have managed to include the "Way In" sign and how she appears to be running right for that open doorway!

Very well seen and very well taken too. And, looking through the window, I see that there appear to be other statues in there too - perhaps she is hurrying to meet up with them.

An amusing shot, very well taken and with good light and colours and excellent details and clarity.

    Brilliant!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hi Craig,

Sad to say, I don't think I've ever been to Cullen though my cousin once lived there for a time.

This is a beautiful photograph, definitely enhanced by the presence of the couple on the bench in the foreground - we automatically tend to follow their gaze across the bay to the railway viaduct and the large rocks in the distance. The houses just seem so neatly arranged in this little town as we look down upon them.

Lovely light and colours, perfect exposure and, as always, exquisite details and sharpness.

    Lovely!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Ciao caro Luciano,

It sounds like your trip to Iceland was a wonderful one!

And this is a spectacular shot of these icebergs in this lagoon. I love the way a greenish light seems to appear from under the water around the bergs and that same light is beautifully reflected off the tops of them too.

Beautiful light and colours, a fine composition and exquisite details and sharpness, as always.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hi Nicolas
although the boats are in the fg, I still think the lime green colour in the water acts like the real focal point.
and that green continues on in the upper bg with the trees too. lots of green :)

good idea to leave the sky OUT, that way the green dominates the frame. excellent lighting and exposure
    cheers

have you noticed the woman's hair almost matches the woman's Tshirt in the bg, funny how that happens alot.

    Hi Bulent
sorry for the late reply, but i'm here now.
this type of museum would be the one's I'd like to spend time in as well. Learning about the good old days of Maritime travel dating back to the 13th century. very cool indeed.
this would have been quite the ship back in its day, I wouldn't want to sail across it.
    excellent subject
