very impressive photo of an equally impressive mountain. it looks like a man-made pyramide (or the fang of a shark). i love the b&w treatment, the result looks very dramatic, almost epic.

from the thumbnail, i thought this was a photo of st. sava church, yet it turned to be from a much nearer place. good symmetry focusing on the beautiful proportions of the architecture. compowise, the bird is in a good place.

i like how you made use of high key contrast to make the observers focus on the three silhouetted figures. the tiny silhouettes afar are a kind of balancing the compo.

this photo and the bruegel one are quite familiar to me, i guess you know why :)
i also had loved the fact that such an important museum was visited by only a few people, giving a lot of time and space for enthusiastic visitors like me. of course, like you, my favourite gallery was bruegel's. bruegel and bosch, i love both.

in turkish we call it "sis", a bit reminiscent of sister' shortcut in english. if mist is sis, then misty would be "sisli" (pronounced like sisley). but yes, mist would be more mysterious, as fog reminds me more of industrial times, when smog settles down on a town. at least cow is cow and tree is tree, and i am happy with these :)

hmmm yes, the box of turkish delight is getting full and full :)
i have always been wondering the latest situation of pamukkale's travertines: as a child, i remember walking on them, but then it was forbidden for most understandable reasons. good to know that the place retained its original purity, and hope that it keeps so.
wonderful presentation of calcite terraces and the unearthy blues on them. you were really lucky t ohave the permitted photogs over there, so that people can get an idea about the size. very well done...

ps: 2 months of my new life have passed already. so far so good with no serious complaints. my upcoming travel will be to the north, to the captial of russians :)

hi chris. your trips to every corner of turkey are indeed dizzying. myra, amasra, dogubeyazit and even hasankeyf... i guess you loved what you saw (as i had, when i travelled to those places) but could you imagine how these treasures would be invaluable in professional and caring hands? it is somehow depressing to know that they will get lost in time, as there is no interest of politicans or the people to protect them. they are regarded as "piles of stones" instead of history or cultural heritage and that's only one of the shames of our nation...

bonjour claude. nice to see that b&w photos still attract members, but you know, this is a very good one, almost a classic. i love the grainy texture of the road, which smartly leads the spectators' eyes into the horizon, topped with a lonely tree and sitting couple. i am not so sure about the glowing effect surrounding the silhouettes, but somehow they add a surreal charm to the result.

hi gosia. it was a beautiful day, really. the blue is incredible, i would say. and your vantge point combined with an immaculately chosen central POV gave you a wonderful photo of this major roman catholic church. its quality is worthy of being published in guidebooks or catalogues.

hi john. suddenly i thought, wayne rooney was expelled from premiere league and found himself in entertaining biz. well, everybody on earth is believed to have at least one face double...
this is a superb grasp of decisive moment: i don't know what a decisive moment is if this is not. besides, this is extremely well processed, the dof helps your rooney pop out of the subtle bokeh. the glowing red pants and its reflection on cold and glossy steel is for me the highlight of this punctual shot, while the facial expression is priceless as well. this must be why the engineers in canon had to invent fast shutter speed. bravo!
