    Hello Ann,

This is a wonderful detail shot of the weekend warrior with his gleaming helmet. His beard is impeccably groomed, but his mail armor is at least visible. We just returned from a cruise from the British Isles — from Southampton and Guernsey, then Ireland and Iceland to the New World. The cabin TV was monopolized by news of ISIS and the Scottish Referendum. (I was happy to see the outcome. How about you? This is one instance when the sum of the parts can function more effectively than the separated parts.)

    Warm regards,

    Hello Brian,

This is a gorgeous shot of the rugged rocks, interspersed with wildflowers that add color and texture to the scene. We just returned from a two week cruise from Southampton to Boston, stopping in Waterford and Dublin in the Republic of Ireland, and Belfast in Norther Ireland... before sailing out into the Northern Atlantic and seeing Iceland, before making landfall in the New World. The 10 hour stopover in Belfast allowed us to see Giant's Causeway, but very little of the city itself. It's a pity we did not know you were in Northern Ireland.

    Warm regards,

    Hello José,

In our 2011 visit to Portugal with Delilah, Porto was the first step on the tour (London-to-Rome). We were crazy about the city, and of course the J.C. Rowling connection, seen in these two photos were especially appealing to Delilah: the Staircase and Harry Potter in Porto.

    Hello Silvio,

As usual, you've provided an excellent note with this shot of Piazza Pianciani in Spoleto. The presence of the two pedestrians give it a touch of human interest and scale. I see that the photo dates back 14 1/2 years, and yet it is sharp and well exposed.

    Hello Tiffany,

Although they are less than two hours from my home in Virginia, I am embarrassed to admit I have not visited the Luray Caverns. As a matter of fact, they are on my short list of places to visit in the area. We always take for granted those sites that people come from great distances to see. You've taken an excellent shot of the caverns, and apparently a tripod has come in handy.

    Warm regards,

    Bonjour mon cher ami Philippe,

Thanks to you, we learn about the architectural treasures of France, especially in the North. Just two weeks ago we were in Guernsey Island very close to France in the English Chanel. The peculiar design of the church is evacuative of Mont St. Michel.

I am always impressed by the quality and quantity of the photos you post at Trekearth. From my only visit to Moscow in I975, I don't remember the statue in the foreground, but those iconic domes of the Basilica, I can never forget. You had superb light for the photo.

    Hello Paul,

You had a clear day to present this well composed shot. The tower and the golden flame create a pair of focal points that did not exist the when I spent a few days in Tokyo in 1983. I do remember climbing a scaled-down version of the Eiffel Tower.

    Witaj Krzysztof,

Street scenes with wet pavement following a rain make gorgeous photos, evocative of works by Impressionists depicting Parisian streets. Here of course, there is dominant building as the backdrop.

    Hello Rob,

The mist rising from the falls creates a veil to hide the modern architecture. I agree with your sentiments regarding the misplaced high rises in this setting.

    Hello John,

In this image wit lots of activity and verve, life appears to proceed normally, happily. The old houses in the background are reminiscent of doll houses, colorful and beautifully maintained. De Schelde is the river you once mentioned to me about the painting I have at home, old sailing ships at the mouth of the river, painted by August Mussin.

Warm regards, John, have a good Sunday.

    Hello Lars,

A very good photo and note at a timely occasion. We just returned from a trip across the North Atlantic, and of course with BBC broadcasting on cabin televisions we were constantly immersed in the news of the upcoming referendum, and then the results. I was happy about the turnout and the results, although I imagine many were not. One thing that is clear, is that there was impressive civility, and democracy at work.

    Warm regards,
