    Hello Eleni,

I like the charming postcard from Ydra. On Patmos and on Santorini, I sympathized endlessly with these animals for the tourists they had to carry up steep slopes. The fatter the tourist, the less they seemed to care about these beasts of burden. What did these creatures do in a previous life to deserve such fates!

    Regards, Eleni,

    Hello Wolfgang,

Your photo, presumably from a cruise ship sailing into Venice, was initially confusing to me, but then I realized the veritable symmetry created by the appearance the Chiesa Santa Maria del Rosario and the Santa Maria di Pieta. Either it was the same architect, or there was conspiracy in creating this symmetry. In any event, I like very much the informative note you've provided for this excellent photo.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Brenda,

With the Empire State Building rising on the top left, and the gorgeous pink flowers anchoring the bottom, there is a most appealing atmosphere in the photo, maybe the idea that spring is finally upon us. Six months from now I may be envious of friends Down Under welcoming the spring, but in the meantime it is a pleasure to see scenes like this.

    Hello Andrew,

I thought you had been absent for an unusually long period. It's good see you back. Your note here is at least as appealing as this photo. The man sitting on the dock is placed in an ideal spot in the frame, and the B&W format lends mystique to the atmosphere.

    Hello Beverley,

I like very much the way you've framed the Windermere with the overhanging branches. It is a gray day, and apparently devoid of any winds, but the intrepid sailors are no doubt having fun, but cursing the lack of breeze and the limp sails.

    Dear Gigi,

The endless rows of tulips converging in the distance are inviting after a hard winter. I see that you shot the photo two weeks ago, and submitted it to TE last week. I am briefly in Istanbul, but am scheduled to return to the United States in two days. I wish I could come through France. My warmest regards to your growing family. And a Happy Belated Easter.

    Merhaba Murat Bey,

This is the type of photo that Architectural Digest, especially with the accompanying note. There is a relaxed and civilized atmosphere with the open doors allowing a glimpse into the adjoining dining room.

After arriving in Istanbul on April 17, I gave a talk at Istanbul Modern on April 18. But scheduled to fly back to DC in two days, it seem impossible to include a visit to Dolmabahçe before I leave on April 23. Today I must make a required visit to the Covered Bazaar.

    Hello Gunnar,

Congratulations for the arrival of spring. The granite stretching endlessly along the coast is reminiscent of the granite around the shore of New England. I wonder if the composition is similar, and whether plate tectonics drove these shores apart in the distant past.

    Dear John,

Ghent, like Bruges, appears to be a veritable living museum. I like very much the juxtaposition of the very old and the very new. You had excellent light to produce this photo, and of course the composition is superb.

    Ciao Romano,

The photo, featuring the reflection in the giant window, is a first class architectural portrait. But complemented by a highly informative note, it is also a first class Trekearth package. I was amused by the "ten years that it took to build the museum, a period corresponding to six changes of the National Government.

What a sharp and colorful image of the A330 climbing into the wild blue sky. During the past week I flew in a similar plane from Washington, DC to Los Angeles, then from Los Angeles back to Washington, only to board another A330 to Istanbul. (I each city I gave a lecture.)

    Hello Eleni,

At the outset, happy Easter to you. The stone-built church is nestled between the thick foliage, with the rugged rocks providing the backdrop.

I did not expect you to make it all from San Diego to Pasadena, but the talk on April 12 turned out well. The Norton Simon Museum's officials were happy with the turnout, just as I was. Just a few days later, I made my way to Istanbul, where I gave a talk on April 18.

    Salam my good friend, Didi,

The panoramic view of the old mill is beautifully depicted in your photo, and complemented by a very good note. The blossoms on the bushes date the season effectively, frequently a good aspect of fresh photos on Trekearth.
