    Hello Klaudio,

This is a spectacular view, with Mt. Cooke on center stage, in the fall in down under New Zealand. I concur with all your observations about the wonderment one feels in driving around New Zealand, especially the South Island. During the week we were in New Zealand (Nov. 13-20, 2014) we spent 3 1/2 days on each of the two islands. We didn't get to see Mt. Cooke on the South Island, but we stayed in Queenstown and experienced that wonderment. We also like the people very much.

As I mentioned earlier, we will be visiting southeast Australia next February, albeit for a very short time. I hope that we can get together somewhere.

    Have a good Sunday,

    Bulent

    Hello Jean,

What an eye catching scene of the reclining bronze, with a Greek Temple in Agrigento looming in the background. These ruins are ones that I have always wanted to visit. But visiting Sicily as many times as I have on cruises, my destination has almost always been Taormina, and just once Palermo.

    Hello Saber,

With a short but informative note, this is a beautiful photo of the historic site. Indeed, the Portuguese, Spanish and Dutch expeditions, "Spice Race," was underway. Of course, the English and French joined it also, and the domination by the West had begun. I did not know that the Safavid Dynasty also began in this time. Have a good weekend.

    Hello Barbara,

With the palm tree leaning over the Atlantic, this is beautiful view from Tulum. In 2009, we were there and loved walking through the ruins. In 2006, the film Apocalypto was released, written, produced and directed by Mel Gibson. The very last scene is on this beach in Tulum. If you don't mind blood and gore too much, you might enjoy viewing the film, both to learn about the Maya, and to see the sites in the Yucatan.

Warm regards, and thank you for sharing this beautiful photo with us.

    Hello Brenda,

A sensational shot featuring reflections, refractions, and an area of New York that holds so much sad memory. I uploaded it to the group theme City reflections.

I shot one of my best photos of all in the mid-90s, standing in the cemetery of an old church around the same location. I was with a friend, it was a cold winter day with snow on the ground and on the gravestones. The all black Millennium Hotel stood on the left, and the Twin Towers on the right. Because of the peculiar light, the bare branches of a sunlit tree stood in the foreground against the black Millennium building, and the bare branches of a silhouetted tree stood in front of the gleaming white Twin Towers. The left side of the photo appeared as an exact negative of the right side. When I wrote the blog for the National Geographic, "Ten Years After 9-11" I could not bring myself to include that photo, especially because of the gravestones in the foreground.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Klaudio,

I like very much the composition here, with the thorny plant and its red flowers in the foreground and goldfish in the pond in the background. A line in your Intro Page, "It is a wonder and a privilege to have the gift of sight," would be especially poignant, if you were to insert the word "color" before "sight." Imagine how the red-green color blind individual would see this image.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Klaudio,

Your gorgeous photograph shows the detailed and intricate mathematical mosaics created by Islamic artists. I used to think that the Shia were allowed to depict human and animal figures, and the Sunni only decorate with calligraphy, mathematical mosaics and flora (including the ubiquitous tulip), but there is a great deal of crossover. In graph theory, a major area of modern mathematics, one studies mathematical mosaics. It is remarkable that Islamic artist intuitively arrived at many of the patterns described as mathematical mosaics.

    Warm regards, Klaudio,

    Hello Alexandre,

Of course you are in the middle of your winter, and the two individuals are dressed for the season. The fog enveloping the background creates an atmosphere of mystery for this black train with red trim. It's a beautiful photo. Many years ago I met two ladies on a cruise to Alaska, one of them was Miss Wine Festival from Caxias do Sul. Is that nearby, and is this a particular wine center in Brazil?

    Bonjour Pierre,

The classic car is beautifully photographed, from the best vantage point — showing the front and one side. As a young artist I had a passion for drawing and designing automobiles, and this, I thought was the best possible angle. I am surprised the roadster is not from the 30s but, I imagine it was completely custom built!?!
