    Hello Abmdsudi

Great silhouette image. Great warm colours. If my image gave us marmalade skies then the sun in your shot is the orange fruit that made the marmalade! It contrasts well with the darker blue towards the top of the image too.

    Have a great weekend.

    Cheers

    Hello Ourania

This is another one of those shots that blurs the boundaries between art and photography that I like so much! Here the hole ground us in reality whilst the water and reflections take us into a surreal world where anything is possible for us to imagine. I really like the light on the ropes as it highlights them too - that subtle, warm side lighting alone sets a kind of mood for the whole image.

Thanks and have a good weekend. This image suggests your focusing issue has been resolved?

    Cheers

    Hello John

The little girl's eyes are looking to the side of you... probably not wanting to make eye contact with strange man and his big lens!

The colours provide the contrast in this shot, especially the vivid blue coat of the man. You have also used a shallow depth of field - possibly for reasons relating to shutter speed and 'capturing the moment' - but what I think it does nicely is isolate the man and child against the background of the train emphasising them as the main subjects and story of the shot. It gives a slight 3D quality to the image too.

Good use of the white line along the platforms edge as a lead in too, which pushes our eye to the right and through the shot, as well as to the main subjects.

Clarity and sharpness are, as always, spot on.

Good moment captured, John. You may one day be the Scottish Cartier-Bresson!

    Warm regards

    Mike

    Hello Ourania

I think in some ways the lack of focus in the distance helps isolate the woman in the FG but still - I am looking for the positive aspects of that. It's a shame about your lens. I recently had a problem like yours. I updated my camera firmware and my lens firmware and all was ok again. Just a thought - at least my issue was software based and not mechanical - which can be costly.

Anyway - I like the film like quality to the shot and it is well composed.

Have a good day and I hope you resolve your lens problem.

    Cheers

    Mike

    Hello Gert

Good note - there is nothing quite like the coldness you feel anywhere in the world when it is accompanied by a lack of sleep. Chilled to the bone is the expression I think. The two people with blankets wrapped around them contrast with the apparent warmth of the colour temperature. At least you knew that you would get warm as the sun rose.

    Nice contrasting colours and light.

Have a warm day - unusually the sun is up today in the UK!

    Hey Craig

I'm so glad you are Canadian, not American, coz this guy along with the country form which he hails, really symbolises everything that is so wrong with neoliberalism in the world right now. He is a product of its failure but he embraces the role in some desperate bid to extend his ego even further than building phallic symbols with his name on it all across America! Sadly his right wing populism is being embraced - that is what worries me more than the man himself. But in other ways I am encouraged - it is a symptom of the failure of neoliberal democracy and so something has to change - hopefully for the better as people realise there is no future in fascism. I live, naively perhaps, in hope.

Anyways - unlike Malgo - I like these kinda shots and what makes it for me is the necklace of highlights that circles the top section of the tower. It adds another layer of crassness to adding your own name to the tower!

His buildings though are far more aesthetically pleasing to look at than the man himself!

Have a great non-political day - this was a party political broadcast on behalf of common sense and decent people!

    Vote Mike!

    Cheers!
