Wonderful sunset picture indeed. The beautiful light and the superbly saturated colors are really very attractive. The burning sky is gorgeous and the quality of the water sublime. Truly a very attractive photo.

    Hello Andrew

This is certainly a colourful little street: I can understand why you - and apparently many others - have been drawn to it. The yellow curbs are for me the critical elements as they conduct our eyes along the road, and create the dynamic converging diagonals. Steely Dan's "The Royal Scam" anyone?

    Hello Murat
Very attractive old cottage with lots of interesting and ornate details. A pity for the many parked cars, but what can one do ...
This reminds me of the beautiful old quarter of Yesil Ev, back in the 80ties when we visited Istanbul. Does that charming quarter still exists?

Now this charming and romantically set little church is well worth the hike out of town and away from the big tourist trails. I hope it will stay that way and thus a hidden gem for the connoisseurs.

    Hello Kathryn
Wonderful close cropped view of the beautiful basilica of Sacre Coeur. It proves again that when you got the eye, you don't need an expensive high end camera to get a great photo. The upwards view has nicely cropped out the hordes of people and the impressive architecture comes out great against this lovely sky.

Hi Dmitri. This is a wonderful result due to the 2sec exposure and the polarizer which gave the water a nice silky look and made the cascades stand out against a darkened background.Excellent details. Regards. Klaudio.

    Hello Noel
This scene is so typically irish, there is no mistake about its origins. The wide open green landscape is very appealing and the old ring of stones provide a vital and interesting focal point.
I quite agree on the nasty tourism on Newgrange and Bru na Boinne. It was a cold and windy day we stopped there on our way to visit friends in Drogheda. Not being aware that one could only visit in guided tours and having just missed one leaving, we didn't wanted to wait for an our in the visitors center and thus gave it a skip.
But there are so many ancient ruins, tombs, monoliths and dolmens one can visit and being there all alone ...
have a great day and happy easter

    Hello Will
Ah, long time no see one of these old telephones. I still remember the times when they where in our every homes.
Having said that, this is rather a sad story that goes with this strangely appealing photo. The whole mood is in this is of a forlorn loneliness and solitude that touches the heart. I do hope the former inhabitants of this village where duly compensated by the british forces?

    Hello Klaudio

I like the edgy framing, which insists on the foreground puddles and pushes the ostensible subject of your lens into the top quadrant. The monochromatic feel also adds to the poignancy of the photograph. Together these technical factors create an "objective correlative" for the tragedy of the earthquake.

    Hello Leslie
We don't see too many pictures of Tasmania here, therefore your contribution is interessant from the start.
Somehow for me Tasmania evokes the image of a wild backwater (probably the result of watching to much Bugs Bunny shows with the Tasmanian devil as a kid), but it seems to be a very pleasant place indeed. Lovely light and the wildlife statues are very attractive.

    Hello Costantino
And a happy Easter to you too! Here in England it's raining today, so it's nice to see your bright and colourful Springtime photograph. The view is stunning, but would not make a photograph if you hadn't included that burst of yellow flowers in the foreground. I think your aperture of f/14 has just about rendered them sharp enough!

    Hello Abmdsudi

Your viewpoint, and decision to fill the frame with the rice terraces, has given your photograph a graphic strength and an almost abstract quality. The tones seem realistic, and the "monotony" is nicely broken by the few scattered dwellings. A compelling image.

    Hello Pierre

I can't for the life of me, imagine why no-one here on TE has seen fit to comment on this photograph. The slightly misty (early morning?) light works to mute the tones, which you have sensibly allowed, without trying to compensate in Photoshop by racking up the saturation. The size of the mosque is emphasized, not just by the people on the square, but by the spread of the square itself. The birds are an important compositional element, drawing together the sky and the land. The sky itself is bleached out: realistic maybe, but leaving a large white "negative space" in your image. It's only problem.

    Regards

    Will
