    Ciao Noel

Ahh so the King Ghoul is becoming a storm-chaser eh? Nice one. Just try not to get hit by lightning, it's very bad for the hairdo. And the camera equipment. I love the brooding sky and the silhouette of the Celtic Cross on the grave. As usual, an excellent note. Fascinating to know this old ruin was the most important cathedral in Ireland once upon a time.

    Cheers and happy weekend

What a beautiful tribute to this music legend and all round good man. I love the geometry, colour and shapes. Excellent light management and superb note. I read an article about the way Bowie defended the rights of Aboriginal people in my country. He included a beautiful Aboriginal woman in his film clip "Let's Dance" and she said he was a wonderful person. The world is a lesser place without him.

    Ciao caro Giovanni

What a fascinating note. Your title - obviously - drew my attention immediately and I marvel at its timing as I was just marvelling to myself when using it yesterday, as to its etymological genesis. This scene looks like something out of a Jack the Ripper film. Except of course the modern dress and the fluoro purple lights on the side. What and where did they come from I wonder. Anyway, a lovely sense of dynamism and a brilliant note, totally in the spirit of TE.

Out to the Clink - the Aussie version - for me on Monday

    Dear Bev

Wow this is spooky, at home on the cover of a horror movie or one of Poe's books. I thought it was night, but reading your note, have been corrected. What a dark, dreary day it must have been. So you get extra browning points for braving the outdoors in this weather when I would have been at home on the couch with a blankie and cocoa.

    Hugs

Oooh this is beautiful. Such exquisite, golden light. The red roof, the purple sky and yellow flowers make a stunning combination. The wide angle lens has worked beautifully, giving us a sense of the wide open places of this wonderful country.

A fascinating note as to the etymology of the word skansen. I suppose not too surprising given the Old Germanic and Norse influences on the English language.

And then there is your beautiful photo. Much more than a postcard. Superb crisp colours and incredible clear reflections. I like the choice of the vertical frame and the excellent depth of field and symmetry. Superb work.

In stark contrast to the serious little chap in your previous photo, the smiles on these little men's faces are infectious. I can't help smiling myself. beautiful vivid colours, good low POV, again in contrast to your previous shot, and wonderful lightplay. A delight to view and critique. Thanks for sharing.

    Dear Kasia

I love this photo and the accompanying note - which is fascinating. I also like the POV you used. The rule books tells us to get down to the level of the child. But with the wide angle lens and the breaking of the rule book, you've created a brilliant perspective. I love your little subject's beautiful, serious little face. Life is hard for this little chap, I hope it gets better for him and he lives a long, happy and healthy life. And I love that the monks refuse to collect alms from the soldiers. A very brave - and meaningful - gesture.

    Warmest wishes, thanks for sharing

What a pity that you felt this photo was not beautiful enough for TE. Not only is it beautiful, it stands out in your Gallery. I love the rich colours and sense of dynamism. The textures of the pavement and the brick walls are also important elements. Your 2 subjects are delightful. Well done!

    Dear Craig

I can see why you like it so much, it really stands out in your Gallery. I love the vertical framing and the effect of your wide angle lens. The mist is another important element and the muted colours prove that it's not always necessary to have sunny skies or sunrises for a compelling photo. Well done and have a fantastic time in the desert.
