    Hello Burak

I visited this Ataturk dam on the Euphrates enroute from Nemrut Dagi to Sanliurfa. It is certainly huge. I am not sure but I think Hasankeyf is under threat from a proposed dam on the Tigris River or its tributaries? The blue water that gives life contrasts well against the arid bg plains. I like the hazy bg mountains. Tfs!

    Hello Murat,

Good pp work on the sky. I'd sugest lowering the border slightly below the horizon line so the halo is less visible. Just an 1/8 of an inch inside the border. That way there are no tell tale white bits of sky left over. I select change color in highlights only. That way the mid tones and shadows are safe. That said I love the warm cold color contrasts between the yellow and blue here. Good sharpness and a pleasant diffused light. Portal is also an English word of French derivation. Tfs!

    Hello, Omid!

I like the long sweeping curve and how it starts in the bottom right corner. I think I will wait until summer before I sit down on that bench! I like the icicles. A nice warm cold colour contrast between the yellow back of the seat and the bg blue sky. Tfs!

    Hi Ana

It looks vaguely Islamic in design, but India was ruled by Muslim Moguls in the distant past before reverting back to Hinduism and others adopting British Christianity. I like the angled pov and despite the low light levels there is good shadow detail and superb sharpness. I like the uniform warm yellow ochre colours. Tfs!

    Ciao Luciano

I was going to say this looks like it was taken in Portugal, but then I remembered that Brazil was a Portuguese colony. The distinctive blue and white tiles add charm to the facade of the imposing old building. Nice repetition of the arched windows. Effective tight framing and they still exude charm despite their dilapidated condition. Tfs!

    Hello Jean,

A superb winter view of Tallinn, an attractive Estonian town that I had the good fortune to visit last October. I like the high pov. The darkened street at right acts as a funnel and leads the eye into the image. Excellent sharpness and the blue and white colours go well together. I can see the Baltic Sea in the distance. Tfs!

    Hello Miro,

I have been to Kathmandu twice, in 2000 & again in 2002. It sure has grown a lot. I like the meandering, reversed 's' shape stream. Amazing repetition of the tightly clustered dwellings. Impeccable sharpness and a magnificent aerial view of the city. There are even some new highrise buildings to be sen in this more recent shot than mine. The bg foothills of the Himalayas and Langtang make a fine backdrop. Tfs!

    Hello Angel,

Excellent sharpness and density levels and effective tight framing on the Portuguese with the 3 arched entrances converted into modern shops. Splendid colour and saturation. The yellow sign at right contrasts well against the blue sky to give a pleasing warm cold color contrast. The fg pedestrian provides scale and animates the shot. Tfs!

    Hi Piotr

Missed this one. Fantastic textural and tonal detail in the snow and the bowed tree at right in profile resembles an animal's head. Perhaps a goat or dog with a little imagination? A marvellous alpine view taken from a superb high vantage point. The blue and white colours predominating throughout go well together. Tfs!

    Hello Pierre,

The curved gravel path in the fg nicely leads the eye to the door of the wooden lighthouse. Good sharpness and the red trim on the white wooden building is eyecatching. A pleasant diffused light with soft pastel colours. I like the subtle warm cold color contrasts between the grey blue sky and dried fg yellow brown grass. Tfs!

    Hello Silvio,

The backlighting has been well managed here and the big old tree adds a fine graphic element. The fg paths adds excellent lead in lines and diminishing linear perspective and vanishing point. I like the dappled light and shadow play in the fg. The 2 mountain spurs either side nicely bookend the shot. Tfs!

The strong backlight has been well managed. The blue sky makes a fine backdrop. Excellent sharpness and saturation. Fantastic shadow detail in the facade of the old stone church. Hello Nicolas,

Nice memories of Autumn when there were still some green leaves on the trees (as well as a few fallen yellow brown ones), and green grass in the lawns! The joggers animate the scene. Good sharpness and the diagonal path adds both good dynamism and diminishing linear perspective. I like the hazy blue bg. Tfs!

    Hello Serge,

Surprising to learn that the Great Lakes require lighthouses. Shipping traffic must be much heavier than I'd imagined. Good warm vs cold color contrasts between the red wooden lighthouse and the blue sky. I might have cropped a little from the bottom and left a bit more breathing space at the top. The yellow signs in the fg compliment the warm cold color contrast against the blue sky. Impeccable sharpness and a pleasant, diffused light. Tfs!

    Hi Miguel

A good group portrait of the novice monks in their orange saffron robes. Good shadow detail and the strong backlight has been well managed. I might have tried using a fill in flash and putting some thin tissue paper across the flash to give a diffused light and minimise any hard shadows and bounced flash. Tfs!

Nice to see a welcoming sign in both Hindi and English and what appears to be Arabic at right. Good sharpness and effective tight framing. The images at left add interest. Good evening Mesut,

Smart choice of a vertical format to accentuate the height of the flower, reminiscent of Jack and the beanstalk! Wonderful colour with good saturation and sharpness. The crescent moon is strategically positioned so that it curve follows that started by the flower. Amazing stained glass art work and tfs!

    Hello Ike.

I might have darkened to lower part of the image but the reflection is perfectly exposed and that's what matters most in this shot. Good color and saturation and you were lucky to strike a day without wind. The reflected blue sky looks great. Nice warm cold color contrasts too from the red rails. Tfs!
