    Hi Gerrit

The red soil and the woman's orange dress contrast superbly against the blue sky. Good sharpness and the bg banana trees let us know this is tropical Africa. Luxuriant greenery and vegetation. I like the downward view into the valley. Tfs!

Good perspective with the corridor at left leading the eye deep into the image. The twin conical towers at right make a good focal point in the distance. Excellent sharpness and punchy light contrasts. I like the shadow play of the roof on the wall too. Tfs!

    Hello Jean,

I didn't recognise Naples at first. I have been up on the hill and the view from up there is tremendous. Good sharpness and attractive, warm colours. The reflections in the harbour are nice. I like the warm cold colour contrast between the warm fg bathed in sunlight and the cooler hues of the blue sky. Tfs!

    Howdy Grand Canyoneer,

My word B, how many pictures do you have from here?!! Trust me, that's not a complaint...only a request to see them all, I love 'em! Wide open spaces indeed, the title pretty much sums up the visual...a ginormous hole in the ground, but full of exciting details, colors and textures to which you present continuously with intense appeal.

Nature provided the canvas, and you have "painted" another stunning outcome. I was thinking of heading back here as you know, but it doesn't look like it'll happen unfortunately...I think the Turkey Day time off will keep me busy with other things!? Oh well, perhaps at the beginning of the year, maybe I can even catch the canyon under some of that white powdery stuff. No, not cocaine...blow, no...wait, I meant snow! lol

In simple conclusion, more canyon pics please. :) Have a good one mate. Take it easy.

Cheers from the valley of the sun,

    The Heat Miser

    Hi John,

Oh, if only the railway stations looked like this where I live...I might be enticed to take a train ride somewhere! :) My next picture to post has a similar composition and subject, so this one caught my eye this evening...I'll credit you with the influence though, how's that? lol

A stunning and vertically opened interior, there's a great sense of space from this viewpoint and composition. The shadow play in the foreground is an attractive and alluring element, somewhat subtle but very effective. I imagine there have been many passengers that have enjoyed their time passing through this station, it's beautiful! Have a nice day ahead. All the best.

    Hi Ike,

As you noted, this was/is utilized for pigeons, it's something that really stands out to me. I say that, because what I find to be the most interesting part of this picture is what we DON'T see, which is incredibly common where flocks of them are congregated....bird poop! lol

Aside from my bad attempt at humor, this is another well presented picture of the cave system. Full of texture, shades of litchen and contrasts of light...this would be a fun subject to photograph and revel in its ancient history. Hope you're having a nice weekend. Take care.

    Hi Daniel,

Yes, I think you've managed to combine quite well the two cities. In fact, I might even throw just a touch of the South of France in here too. :) You sure know how to best utilize the slim, vertical format...and this fits in just right with your collection. A standard street scene, but I really like what you've compiled with muted colors, gritty textures and that cozy feeling of narrow, old town streets...and of course, a small motor bike for good measure. :) Enjoy the new day. Take care.

    Hi Ed,

First off, to answer the question posed in your recent comment....uhhhh, no...I will not be traveling Eastward to take any snow pictures. lol I couldn't if I wanted, they're buried right now, and it's about to start melting quickly too...I'll take my chances with the mild temps and abundance of sunshine in Az. right now. Tough call, I know! :)

An interesting picture this one, because of the focus range. I would venture to guess most photog's would find this limited area of focus, and its positioning within the composition to be completely absurd...you know, it doesn't "fit the (technical) mold." :/

Subjective assessment of course, we all have our own likes and dislikes...but because of the vivid colors and converging perspective, I think it works...albeit in an odd way...and that's precisely why I like it. Unorthodox, no doubt...but indeed, makes me ponder the visual. Nicely done to pique curiosity. Hope you're having a good weekend. Take care.

    Hi Bev,

Without light, there is no photography....well, not much of it anyway!? :) This is a stellar example of just how important a role light can play. Not because it's overtly harsh, dynamic or intense...but the simple warmth and beauty it can cast over an image. Aside from the trees being barren this time of year, for me, this has quite a sensation of an early evening during the summer months.

And what a tremendous pull towards the horizon, you have utilized the converging perspective of the road most effectively in this composition. It's a nice and easy visual journey to and through....this just makes me want to say "ahhhhhhh." :) Hope you're having a nice weekend. Take care.

    Ciao Luciano,

You mention one can see everything in Palermo, but here, I see nothing!? haha This is wonderful though, simple is the key, and the three distinct colors are superbly complimentary to one another. A small truck up on a block, an open window and empty chair with no one in sight...and yet, there is a feeling of presence, and a super slice of every day life. I love these kinds of "routine" scenes, and you found a great one here! Hope you're having a good weekend. Take care.

    Hi Ney,

Indeed, and surprisingly so, this looks great for an iPad picture! I'm not sure how this slipped past me initially, as I instantly picked it out of your gallery pages this evening. I thought perhaps you had taken a quick side trip to Italy because of the given colors of these buildings. When I spotted the flags however, there was no doubt this was actually Sweden. :) A quaint and cozy corner of town, this small square looks incredibly charming and you've done well to convey that relaxed atmosphere with this arrangement. Simply beautiful! Hope you're having a nice weekend. Take care.

    Hi Gerrit,

A contrast in casual wear, no doubt. :) As with the previous, there is a lot of color and detail to admire from the people featured in these photos, and although that is generally the most impactful feature for me, the distant hillside seems to draw more of my focus in this image for some reason!? Not sure why that is, but I really like how it creates a great sense of depth to this particular shot. Clear, distinct and sharp, another fine documentary of rural life. Enjoy the new day. Take care.

    Hi Saša,

Perhaps not as bright and lively as your recent concert pictures, but an interesting effect in a moving vehicle. The blurred foreground puts the simple scene into motion, while we have a sharp and distant view over the landscape. A minimal setting, but one with good contrast between the green fields and white building. For my personal tastes, I would crop this to a panoramic format, putting more emphasis on the movement, but that's just me. :) Have a great day. Take care.
