    Hi Craig,

Nope, in my opinion there ain't nowt wrong with postcard pictures just like there's nothing wrong with "chocolate box" pictures either.

This picture's a smasher with lovely strong but well balanced composition, lovely light, fine vibrant colours and, as always, stunning details and sharpness.

    A Beauty!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Les,

This is a truly beautiful photograph.

The short grass, the bare rocks and that windswept gnarled old tree all suggest exactly what you say in your excellent note - that this is a wild and exposed place which can be very inhospitable in bad weather or at certain times of year. I can imagine times and situations when it might be quite spooky up here.

A beautifully composed photograph with gorgeous light and colours, a splendid sky and exquisite details and sharpness. The lone figure standing on that outcrop of rock clinches the composition perfectly. Did you "plant" her there or was her presence simply fortuitous? Or, indeed, serendipitous?

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hi Malgo,

As always, you have given us an interesting note. Nothing better than olive oil on bread - far healthier than butter and quite tasty too! You can have butter and jam but I don't think olive oil and jam would taste very good! :o)

What a wonderful idea to have a canvas "roof" above the street to give shade on very hot days. Something we don't really need in Britain too often. Your photograph is delightful and you have captured this scene beautifully. There's something amazing about the light in this picture - it really makes the people stand out beautifully against the paving and the buildings. Gorgeous light and colours and exceptional details and sharpness.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. And what a wonderful photograph of Wolfgang - very well captured acting as a perch for a butterfly! Your 100th TE member to meet! :o) Fabulous!

    Hello Jasmine,

I absolutely love clocks and love playing around with them, taking them apart and trying to fix them! So this one is really interesting for me.

It took me a little while to work this one out and I had to look at Wikipedia to find this picture because I was wondering how you "read" the time on this clock. Now I understand that the face or dial of the clock is lower down on the marble base! And I presume that the "wire" which the pendulum hits then works an escapement mechanism to regulate the clock. All very clever!

This is another of your fine "interior" shots which you do so very well despite the usually poor light. And here we not only have a fine image of this remarkable timepiece, but we also see an excellent view of the rest of this room reflected in that huge mirror behind the clock.

Gorgeous light and colours, fine composition and excellent details and clarity.

    Fabulous!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Roger,

You have given us a very interesting note here - but tell me, if this place was built in the 1600s, then why does it have 1870 written on the side of this building in Roman numerals? Or perhaps these outbuildings were constructed at a later date than the main Riddarhuset?

Anyway, this is a delightful photograph taken in lovely light and displaying beautiful soft colours. You have managed to overcome any temptation to oversaturate the colours which, to my mind at least, are perfect. Your exposure is spot-on, the details and sharpness are exquisite and the composition is very pleasing to the eye.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. This picture, like many uploaded at 800 pixels wide, does unfortunately demonstrate the degradation in quality and sharpness which occurs now that TE has decided to "shrink" all pictures to just 790 pixels in width. Have a look at this same picture on "beta" TE here, where it is displayed at full size, and see if you see the difference! We've had discussions (with the administrators too) about this on the forum but no cure has so far come about. The answer would appear to be either to restrict the size of your posted images to no more than 790 pixels in width or else post them considerably larger (say 1200 pixels wide) when they seem to suffer less in the way of degradation when "shrunk".

    Hi Rafal,
This is beautiful. The angle of the land is unusual and allows an even better view of the fine cosmos in the sky in the distance while the tree, perfectly composed on thirds is the true star of the show. The mist creates a very magical air too, beautiful combination of all these elements.

Beautiful old church, and a perfect vantage point from which to shoot this fine scene. The flowers are composed perfectly in the scene, adding life and vibrancy and color. Te highest point of the building being on thirds is a big bonus.

    Hi Omid,
I like the backlight on this structure, it creates a fine silhouette especially through the many lines of the scaffold. I always feel that these kind of scenes are important for the future, when this building is known by all, it will be fascinating to see it being born, I look forward to seeing this place completed.

    Hi Carlo
An unusual fluid and linear monument, and you framed this beautifully by including the two tall palms. The blue sky is a perfect way to present this cool place, and the people on the street give scale and context. Excellent view too, with the light falling perfectly.

You have taken an everyday scene and made it into a Scene from anoth planet, when I see this I do not think beach, I think of desert on a faraway world. The fishing hut is like a spaceship, and it's reflection is just perfect. Really nice and creative way to view this scene.

    Hi Craig,
I learned here on te that a postcard view is not always a compliment, and I don't get that, I love a postcard view. In my eyes its a view great enough that people want to remember it forever and buy it! This is a fantastic view, the buildings look like they were hewn from the rock itself, and then painted to differentiate them from the landscape. An imposing yet quaint town, and that's not something you see often.
Classic postcard, and that is said in the nicest possible way.
    Cheers

This is a beautiful image, the writhing tree looks almost like it is dancing and what a background with the old stone and the woman standing there. She make the scene magical, still as a tree while the tree is active as as person. Beautiful colors and light and thanks for an excellent note.

    Hi Brian,
I have said it before, forgive me to say it again. Woooooo.... I would have sworn this was an art installation from the thumbnail but to click in and see this is a decent sized building? Incredible colors and the placement of the windows in this facade intrigue me. I can safely say I love everything about this place and shot, the colors, the composition, e building, the creativity. I really need to get my lazy a** to London very soon!

    Hi Abmdsudi
A fine view, and especially so with the water glinting in the sun like a pile of precious jewels, the composition is excellent, the diagonal line of the harbour wall breaking it into two distinct areas. I know this will sound really strange but as I look at all these little boats, they remind me of lots of pairs of shoes lined up! No idea why, my over active imagination.

    Hi Roger,
I love the description, cupcake style, very good. Never heard it before but so apt for these strange little buildings. Beautiful though, and as you say the French design is quite evident. Lovely capture of the place to take in the shade and light, the perfect angle and these rich colors. The words working on behalf of Swedish nobility sound strange, I wonder why they need an action group!
Fascinating post and place, thanks for sharing.
