    Hi Silvio,
This is a beautiful place, and your photo of it has such a great combination of light on all the main subjects and the shadow on the left. That sky is a shade of blue I never see, so clear and vibrant. The two men in the bottom right add a lot of life to the picture and a brilliant inclusion.
    Cheers

    Hi JC
There could not possibly be a better view of this castle, you make is stand out almost in 3D and it looks so strong and proud. An imposing looking place. The light is perfect too, there is such a great thing about green, grey and blue combination. Really nice place and photo, thanks for sharing.

    Hi May,
This is a really striking image, and your placement of all the elements in the photo is superb. It's like a picture in a picture, and those rays coming out of the image on the building add a lot of life. Really nicely seen and captured photo.

    Hi Bornav,
This is a beautiful portrait. There is a strong sense of wellness and power to the view, the woman looks intensely into her work, so the image feels so natural and that has a very timeless feel. The image is somewhat so,bre to me, but the bright colorful cloths contrast that and make me focus on the girls expression. Very nice work, thanks for sharing.

    Hi Ourania,
I've been looking at this photo for days, it is so much your style. Bold vibrant colors full of life, the water, the boat and the fact that again you have gifted personality to the little boat in a great way. The cabin actually reminds me of an old winged war helmet, a bit squarer but I can see it. Very pleasant shot to look at, thanks for sharing.

    Hello Ourania,

You really are an expert at catching these fine reflections of colour in the waters of the harbours near where you live! Many would simply pass by a scene like this, perhaps just admiring the boats or the distant views, but you have not only looked but "seen" wonderful images like this and captured them perfectly!

And this is yet another fine example: the bright red boat is magnificent but the reflections of the boat in the water and the wonderful graphic play of light and colours in those reflections are just fabulous.

A wonderfully bold and striking composition in which even the ropes and chain play an important part, lovely light, strong vibrant colours and exceptional details and sharpness throughout.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Bonjour Nicolas,

A very well seen and captured image of this bicycle, patiently waiting for its owner while he finishes off his drink in this bistro!

We see lots of fine detail not only of the bicycle but also of the interior of the café, as well as some fine reflections in the window.

Your composition and exposure are perfect and the details and sharpness are superb.

    Excellent!

    Bonjour, Denis,

Wow! If ever a photograph had striking foreground interest, this one does! The bright green boat stands out stunningly against the reddish sand of the beach and gives tremendous depth to this fabulous land and seascape at Ploumanac'h, all beneath a glorious sky.

Lovely light and lovely rich colours, perfect exposure and excellent composition, details and sharpness.

    Hi Craig,

First of all, Congratulations on hanging around here so long and putting in such work and effort to have managed to post a thousand beautiful photographs on TE! TrekEarth is what I imagine being addicted to heroin or cocaine must be like - but I guess it's a jolly sight safer even if it does take up an inordinate amount of one's time.

This is a beautiful photograph and your note underlines the effort and lengths you have gone to in order to achieve such fine images.

As you say, this is almost monochrome due to the quality of the light but what colour there is, particularly in the foreground, stands out perfectly and adds depth. The lack of background colour also gives us a wonderful feeling of cold and of the starkness of this inhospitable landscape.

Your composition is, as always, excellent with the buildings and the boat perfectly placed in the frame. What colours there are are true, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness exquisite.

An interesting and informative note and a stunning photograph make this a perfect upload for TE - and a memorable posting for your 1000th picture!

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. I shall send you an email shortly regarding your possible trip to Scotland and Ireland next year!

    Hello Mariusz,

It's quite a few years since we visited Cyprus (I didn't have a digital camera in those days) and I certainly missed seeing this lovely church. In fact, I think we only passed through Larnaca on one occasion.

You have written a very interesting and informative note about this church, as well as reminding us of the lovely story of Lazarus, and provided us with a beautifully composed photograph of this place.

I love how you have used your wide lens to exaggerate the perspective and fill the foreground with those brightly coloured flowers while the brightly lit church stands out stunningly against a deep blue sky.

Gorgeous light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness, as always.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Bonjour Denis,

This lighthouse at Ploumanac'h is famous and also is a favourite place for photographers, probably largely because of the lovely pink granite. And you have captured this scene perfectly in the low evening light.

I love how the low angled light brings out the warm tones of the rocks and also shows up their textures wonderfully well. Tthe light also nicely catches the white foam of the sea beautifully.

A very fine composition with gorgeous warm light and colours, perfect exposure and exquisite details and clarity.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Bev,

This is a delightful shot of this quite extensively modified version of an early VW "Type 2" camper and very well taken too - you clearly had the patience to wait a while until the crowds around it cleared a little. And it's nice that we also get a glimpse of some of the other old vehicles in field too. Looks like a fine sunny day for this rally and you have captured the light and colours perfectly in this lovely sharp photograph.

This is indeed a curious vehicle as it appears to be made up of several different bits: the rear part is from the Type 2 "pick up" while the front part is of a Type 2 van. It also looks as though the whole thing has been extended two or three feet as well as having been fitted out with lots of other paraphernalia like bull-bars, extra lights and fancy mirrors and some queer rope detailing on the bumpers. All very interesting to look at but, if I were you, I think I'd stick with your own camper - these things were slow, noisy and heavy on fuel and not nearly so comfortable as yours!

    Lovely!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. Not sure where those "dust spots" came from - they don't look like bits of dust on your sensor as they usually look like fuzzy blobs and don't usually show up at larger apertures (you used f/5.6 for this one) - usually they're more obvious at the likes of f/22.

P.P.S. I see that the TE website is again having glitches - I no longer seem to be getting email notice of new postings and the "viewed" counters don't seem to be working either. Do you see the same problems at your end?

    Ciao caro Luciano,

An interesting and informative note you have written. For the people of Cuba things should now start to improve but what about poor photographers who love the old cars and the crumbling buildings? But perhaps the wellbeing of the Cuban people is actually more important than that!

A gorgeous photograph taken in beautiful early morning light as the rising sun paints the whole sky red. The silvery reflections on the calm sea are beautiful and your inclusion of the single silhouetted person at far right is the icing on the cake and adds wonderfully to this fine composition.

Beautiful light and colours, perfect exposure and composition and stunning details and clarity.

    Gorgeous!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello John,

You have given us a fascinating note about caring for grazing land and the control of weeds, etc. to promote good grass growth for the new season.

And this is a charming photograph of this country lady comfortably holding this charming young animal. The light and colours are delightful, your exposure perfect and the details and sharpness are exquisite. But, most of all, I love the strong eye contact between the lady and the photographer.

    Lovely!
