    Hello Carlo
thanks for this dedication. I do love Igor Mitoraj's work and seeing this particular one in this setting is wonderful as it is so different to the similar statue at Canary Wharf in London. No less impact though and you have captured it beautifully.

Thanks again - I love it!

    Hi Ryszard
nice to see a town where the tallest structure is the old cathedral, albeit wrapped up! Lots of history here and it looks idyllically peaceful with the fisherman adding to the mood. WWII destroyed so many beautiful towns and it is so pleasing to see them restored like this.

    Hello Bev,

As I sit up late (now 3.20 a.m.!) watching the results of the Scottish referendum coming in, I see a crystal ball here and try to stare into it for a final answer!

A lovely picture here (and even more interesting in that very few people these days seem to be aware of just quite what a newel post is - but, of course, being married to a joiner, you are fully aware of what that is!).

Unfortunately, close-up pictures like this don't really seem to do that very well on TE but, for me, I find this very appealing and also a nice change from the usual castles, houses and churches with which we are so familiar here.

A beautiful piece of glassware, perfectly captured with lovely soft light, fine colours and exceptional details and sharpness. Now that you've bought it (!), I'm sure it will grace your staircase beautifully. At €320, it's cheap at half the price!

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. So far things are (fingers crossed) looking just a little favourable for the "No" side. Which is good, in my opinion - as I am sure it also is in your opinion too. To my mind nationalism is a filthy word and I still don't understand why a party which represents only 8% of the U.K. population can hold the rest of the country to ransom.

    Bonjour Denis,

This is a delightful and very appealing photograph but unfortunately I don't think such pictures seem to attract quite so much attention on TE as they really should. But I love it!

The light here is lovely and you have managed to "separate" this lovely animal perfectly from its slightly out of focus background. The details and sharpness in this creature are superb and I love its pose and how it almost appears to be "sniffing" the cow parsley and other wild flowers.

    A very appealing photograph indeed.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Lars,

Well, I am sitting up late (2 a.m. just now) watching with interest the results of the Scottish referendum coming in! And here is a beautiful photograph of this iconic Victorian bridge, taken in beautiful light from, interestingly enough, North Queensferry which is the home of former prime minister Gordon Brown who has given some very inspiring speeches very recently in favour of the "No" campaign against Scottish independence. So, yes, a very appropriate and timely posting indeed!

Your composition is excellent and very pleasing, the light is delicious, the colours are true and the details and sharpness are exquisite.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Jean,

This really is a very striking shot and certainly also a lesson in "Rule of Thirds" composition! Not only that but it is also a lesson in the physics of light, refraction and photography in general because I submit that it would be quite impossible to take a photograph like this at a huge aperture of f/3.3 on a DSLR (or any camera with a large sensor or film dimension) and still achieve such incredible depth of field. That door, I'm guessing, was probably only a foot or so away from you and the top of the stairway looks a good thirty or more feet away and yet both are still sharp.

Well, after that enlightening (?) discussion, I like this one! The colours and textures in that ancient wood and iron door are wonderful and those textures contrast well with the softer colours and tones of the enclosed stairway climbing into the distance on the right.

A very original photograph, very well seen and very well taken indeed.

    Fabulous!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. An interesting note about this place too.

    Hello Ourania,

What a curious scene - but so well captured by you - you were obviously very "quick on the trigger" to manage to catch this shot!

Perhaps the cat is trying to be intimate with his/her master (not that cats ever have masters or mistresses as they are so independent anyway) - but the man is just too busy concentrating on his mobile 'phone to be bothered with any intimacy.

A brilliantly captured shot with remarkable detail considering that it was taken quickly.

    Brilliant!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hi Jason
Nice timing indeed, I think this is the first time I have ever actually seen the word tandem outside a book, not a word you often see in printed posters! And how cool that this nice d headed lady decided to park her numerous baby wagons here to make the whole scene pull together. Also, the range of colors is amazing here, between the purple flowers, red pram, orange window, oche walls, greens, beiges and browns. It's like a well timed tandem based explosion of color!

And if I am not mistaken that street name sign look suspiciously like the one from Sesame street :)
    Cheers
    Noel

A very pleasant daily life scene, this man at work with his animals, it is a scene repeated every day around the world, but here you have your own local touch to it with the surrounding of your city. He seems to be smiling too, so I guess is happy to be your subject. Well done, nice addition to your gallery.
