    Hello Brenda
Now that is quite an oversized add indeed. The contrast between the gigantic add and the small and insignificant figure of the homeless man tells us a lot about our values and how wrong we are about running after ever more unneeded goods while others barely scrap a living. This just shouldn't happen in a rich and developed society as ours, be it in America or Europe.
Reading Craigs post about ever having meet anybody famous in NY and in context with the homeless man, last time we where in NY Mr. John Malkovich just came out of an underground station where we went down. But if it would not have been for someone else to point him out to us, we would have taken him for a homeless person ourselves :-)

    Hello Ian
No, these clouds are indeed nothing unusual around Mt. Rigi. The mountain is often shrouded in clouds but on sunny days it is one of the most impressing views in central Switzerland. That is why the mountain is often referred to as the queen of mountains. Been up there for hiking on many occasions.
Beautiful view with the green pastures, the low hanging clouds and the lake peaking trough the clouds.

I always wonder, why Greeks build their chapels in the middle of nowhere as this fine example proves again? The charming little chapel sits nicely amongst the grasses on its hilltop.
The only thing I know of Hydra is its port seen from the flying dolphin on our way from Athens down to Monemvasia where my mother lives since almost 20 years.

    Hello Abmdsudi
The herd of yaks looks quite forlorn in this wide and barren landscape. The snow on the slope add to the godforsaken feel of the place and is prove of the harsh living conditions for the local nomads.

Now that is a rather strange combination of styles in this building. What its it? A school? a train station? a museum? The neo classical columns seem really out of place in this otherwise magnificent old building. Also the basketball court lets me believe this to be a school.

    Hello John
How could anyone ever getting bored to look at these beauties. OK agreed, modern cars would be a different story for me indeed but these old cars are just gorgeous even if they are not in the best of shapes as this example. Engineers really had a sense of design at the time.

    Hello Craig
Judging from this photo as well as the two previous ones, this seems indeed the perfect spot for a castle. This must have been a nightmare to any would be invader at the time. This view along the ravine towards the ruined castle might have been what an attacker would have seen with his own eyes. Must say the drone photo is truly spectacular, I must definitely giving it a try one day.

    Hello John
a fine every day scenery with the old guild house and market hall taking nicely center stage here. The terrace looks inviting to sample on of Belgiums many fine beers.
Personally I would have cropped out the modern white building to the left to give the whole scene a more medieval character, but that is really nitpicking.

Looking at this quaint little corner, one wouldn't imagine it sitting at the crossroads of such a busy street as your second picture proves. Quite a contrast here. The buildings and the architecture are lovely, Quebec seems to be a very nice place indeed.

    Hello Noel
What a sublime combination of light and shadows around the magnificent ruins of Trim castle. It is a very moody scene with plenty of character.
On your last note about running in Ireland, when we where in Galway we met a man and his prize wife (some kind of local celebrity as a singer in Ireland?) at the local pub that organizes charity runs all over the place for his charity about a Swiss girl that was brutal abused and murdered some years back there. After an extended whiskey tasting that he organized for us for completely nuthing at all, we gladly started to support the Manuela Riedo foundation.

    Hej Gert
Another fine trip down memory lane in this small scene of every day life at the shores of Dianchi lake. I bet that at that time way back in 1986 (I was living in South Africa then ...) it wasn't easy to travel to and trough China? I am really a fan of your many glimpses to the past that you are able to provide us with. It shows a world at a so much slower pace than today.

Isn't it humbling to see how many people are scraping a meagre life out of the little resources they have. This might not be a golden pagoda but to me it conveys the essence of Burma in more ways than a thousand pagodas. Your note has really touched me and it is exactly what I wanted to convey in my note to my last upload of the fireworks.

I have heard and even seen a TV report about these avant-garde appartement towers. I believe it to be a great idea to provide some green in our inner cities in the future. The tight crop gives the two towers a great impact indeed.

The goats are beautifully decorated and presented in this old traditional procession. We have a similar tradition here in Switzerland when the farmers bring their cows up to the summer pastures high in the alpes and again back in autumn. For both occasions the cows are beautifully decorated with big ornamental bells and headgears too.

A magnificent landscape indeed, one that reminds me somehow of the barren hills and cliffs in Iceland. The lush green and the low hanging clouds form a dramatic pair, while the road adds a good sense of scale to this wonder of nature.
