Happy to see scenes of my youth, with the fierce horses pulling old ploughs; they are now replaced by bigger and bigger tractors.

Nice crop on the sails, mast and different ropes and their shadows, the colored flag is well spotted in the top right corner.

    Bonjour Jean Jacques

    Hi Craig,

Ahaha, what is it with you being able to piss people off so easily? :) Ahh, this is great, and trust from me...you're not the only one to get these kinds of disgruntled stares from the other side of the lens. That's such a great stance too, hands on hips, furrowed brow and a general dislike for the person holding the camera. lol And best of all, you didn't even notice him, 'cause he sure sees you!!

I've never understood why people take such offense to the act of having their picture taken, unless it's in a private setting...hell, this guy should thank you for helping to promote his city through picture. What a fun street, full of color, advertisement, action and varied objects for sale. So much to take away from this shot, mood included! Now, lets get to work on your people skills. :) Have a good one amigo, cool shot!

    Cheers from Az.,

    Hi Pilar,

I intended to comment on you r most recent post, but found myself returning to this picture many times over. :) Full frame reflections are of course very subjective, and I find this one extremely well done! Despite not knowing the precise subject, it's counterpart being displayed on the waters surface is superb. I like how you've put this together for maximum effect, utilizing the colors and pattern to your best advantage within the framework. As you pointed out, the aesthetics are vivid. Smart and visually delightful! Enjoy the retirement. :) Take care.

    Warm regards,

    Jason

    Hi Gosia,

I've really come to enjoy these kinds of images and street scenes...as you noted, there's a lot of character to be had. The graffiti art itself is interesting, even a bit humorous, but the idea to capture someone in passing makes it all the more compelling to have that human element as part of the scene.

It's amazing what things we see on a daily basis that can result in a photograph which makes you stop and really take notice of details. A smart observation and super take on the streets. Enjoy the new week ahead. Take care.

    Ciao Carlo,

Haha, I'm sure you're not the only one who would prefer to stay in bed at such an hour. :) You efforts have paid off though, and you have captured some very pleasant and warm light to accompany this arrangement. I wish I would have had more time to experience Pisa, more than just the Tower, and this picture goes to support that notion. A lovely view along the river, and the calm atmosphere is well projected at this particular moment. Clear and well defined, this is a great result. Enjoy the new week ahead. Take care.

    Hi Ourania,

I can't seem to get caught up on your pictures, you need to slow down. :) I'm fascinated by this house, and the way you've composed this shot to give it such a flat appearance. Quite deceptive from this angle, and unless two dimensional stick figures live here, I have to think there's more than than what we see. :)

The geometric shapes contained within this framework are captivating, like a misshapen puzzle that will never quite come together. And the two tone color scheme keeps it bold and defined. Fantastic exposure too, balanced in light and shade...and the gradual fade to deep blue in the sky is a nice touch to top it all off in contrast. Very well done, not the typical street scene...I really like the edge this has about it. Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Take care.

    Friendly wishes,

    Jason

    Hi Rosemary,

Of the two, I do prefer this main post for its higher contrast. It has more of a punchy effect, and even feels to render a antiquated kind of appearance. Do I see a trend developing, seeing those vertical and horizontal aspects coming together once again? :)

This is certainly a fun combination of attire and personality, and the idea of what's taking place leaves it open to the imagination. A lovely street scene full of character, and apparently characters! :) Enjoy the new week. Take care.

    Hi Lars,

I was just browsing through some older photos of mine from here, so this one of yours naturally caught my eye this morning. :) Unfortunately during my visit, I wasn't granted the same clear skies, so it's with even greater appeal to view it under the bright sun. This is one of the best subjects to fit the panoramic layout, while still having a good, converging perspective from the foreground path and gardens. Clear and precise, a very nice presentation of this impressive palace. Hope you're having a good weekend. Take care.

    Hi Noel,

I'm sweating while reading your note, I know full well what it's like to try and concentrate for a photo under such heat conditions. And if that's not bad enough, the humidity really wreaks havoc...kind of a "shoot n' run" concept, yeah? :) As beautiful and delicate as this butterfly is, I'm now extremely interested in seeing the snakes, scorpions, lizards, etc. you mentioned...a bird eating tarantula, are you kidding? Creepy cool!

Good to know there are people dedicated to the preservation of these lovely species of butterfly, it's truly a small wonder amongst the giants of nature. A super close-up here, detailing the attractive qualities and gentle care of the environment. Bright, colorful and full of interest...small in scale, big on visual impact. Enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Take it easy.

Cheers from hot and humid Phoenix,

    Bonjour Serge,

Having just returned from time spent in the Russian countryside and seeing similar styles of construction and elements, this picture caught my eye with a strong association. The barn has a great deal of rustic charm, and its placement among the apple orchards is a wonderful compliment, the two features come together nicely. I hope you show us more from this place, and that the photo competition was even further inspiration. Good luck, keep us posted on your results. Enjoy the rest of the weekend. Take it easy.

    Amicalement,

    Hi Gert,

Are you kidding, "bore" us with these pictures...not a chance! I love seeing these old gems, not only for historical reference and intrigue, but for the fact you had already developed (yeah, an intended pun for the era of film. )) a wonderful sense for capturing the daily life aspects.

It's all so very real, down to earth and genuine...far removed from the major attractions and "pretty" scenes we see so often. You've had amazing journeys and traveled to places virtually no longer available, so its with added interest to view your photos. And that smile from the vendor tops it off just right. :) Keep 'em coming! Enjoy the rest of your weekend. Take care.

    Howdy B,

I think you nailed it in terminology, sweeping and graceful are the perfect expression of this rooftop and composition! I remember this from a previous post of yours, and you've done it another great service to showcase it with such style.

Not only is the black & white a slick choice, but the angle at which this is presented really ups the impact. If I scroll the image up and down on the screen, it vibrates with motion (eaaasy there cowwboy!:)) and comes alive. Yet again, proof that you have an awareness and vision to take the "ordinary' to a new level of intrigue. I'm curious about the sky too, it renders the whole an 'inverted infrared' effect with the clear white, cool stuff! Graphic and punchy, just like your weekend I hope. lol Have a great one amigo.

    Cheers from the desert,

    Mr. Cowlingski
