    Hello Chris,

The small railway station is nestled in such a picturesque, but seemingly obscure setting. How on earth did you discover it? This is a colorful shot in the rugged mountains.

    Hello Jean,

The great German physicist and Nobel Laureate Werner Heisenberg is generally credited with the pronouncement, "Never underestimate how much pleasure it will give a man to see what he already knows!" So it is with Giant's Causeway. Last October on our visit to Belfast, we journeyed to Antrim, and were dazzled by the site of the geologic wonderland just as you must have been. This a very good photo giving an expansive view of nature's stonework. Your note is first rate.

Jean, you've inspired me to submit one of my photos of the site. Thank you.

    Warm regards,

Excellent depth-of-field the colors and textures of the stonework are sharp, just as the man within the frame, within the frame is sharp. A very creative composition with surpassing results.

I hope your father is feeling well by now.

Clearly in this photo the man's shawl is following closely, as he rushes to his car... key in hand. It's a photo evocative of Korkut Bostanci's works.

    Hello Ann,

Shot with a shutter speed of 1/500 sec, the photo reveals droplets and the separate streams cascading down the rocks. It makes a mesmerizing shot of the Pacific Northwest. The only thing missing are the sounds of the ocean.

    Merhaba Murat Bey,

The engaging note adds context to the photo of the airport transport station in Orlando. Regarding your experience as a witness to the explosion of the Falcon 9, a supply vehicle for the Space Station, it is reminiscent of an experience I had. Many years ago I was in Orlando, ostensibly to visit the launch of Apollo XIII. That was of course an ill fated launch also. There was even a film made about it.

    Bonjour again Roland,

The juxtaposition of the bicycle wheel, and the perfectly matched colors of the stiletto heels and water hydrant collaborate to make this a balanced composition. The sun is almost directly overhead, a difficult time to take photos, but this exposure works very well.

    Hello Andre,

The photo, shot without a tripod and without a flash, is remarkably clear, and certainly preferable to a photo with flash illumination. The warm colors and textures are superb. The relatively slow (1/60 sec) shutter speed reveals the motion in the hands of two of the cast members and the petticoat of one of them. Because of the symmetric location of the three women in front of the delineated backdrops, there is a triptych of sorts.

    Warm regards

This is sensational, John. I wish I had known about Tantallon Castle, both for visits I've made, and so too for my son and his family, when they toured Scotland last year. This is a lovely shot, Kasia, unusually well composed and exposed. There is mysterious atmosphere, created by the woman's total covering... except her hands. Of course, it appears to be a candid shot, as she has not positioned her hands as a model might. The colors and texture came out well.

    Hello Jean Claude,

At the outset, I apologize in critiquing the beach scene from Cadiz for addressing you as "Angel." I made the correction on that critique. You must know that Angel Cornejo, a resident of Cadiz. I like very much this perspective you chose, demonstrating the best of two-point perspective. I positioned yourself symmetrically at the corner of two walls of the house, with the lines of perspective (orthogonals) trailing off to converge at a pair of vanishing points. The colorful plants, set against white washed walls, and a pair of staircases diverging at 90 is very effective and attractive.

    Dear Malgorzata,

This magnificent photo totally slipped my attention. Of course, I should start with your photos before I make any trips, and, indeed, in late December 2015-Early January 2016 we will be in (Rio de Janeiro). I want to share with you a fantastic youtube video Repairs on the Christ Redeemor Statue in Rio. I am not a "destination lecturer," but a "Special topics lecturer." I will speak about "Ascent of the West the Age of Navigators", "the West and the Rest", "Science and Reason Leonardo and Newton" etc. But I would love to use a few of your slides as well. Can you send me a higher resolution image of half a dozen of your best photos to my email address."

    Hello Brenda,

When I look at the two sides (at 10 o'clock and 2 o'clock) of the oculus I see the lines coming off tangentially, and spiraling out clockwise and counterclockwise. They create an eye catching and very regular pattern. They are evocative of the spirals on a sunflower. But of course the spirals there are logarithmic spirals, and a pair of Fibonacci numbers in their clockwise and counterclockwise patterns (89:55) or (55:34) , whereas here they are barely curved, if at all. I like the angle you chose to break up the symmetry by including the balcony. I like the photo very much.
