    Hello Gert,

The two photos are related in theme. Here the bright colors are complementary and can lift one's spirit. As Beverly (Royaldevon) points out, it is reminiscent of
    • How many workmen does it take to replace a lightbulb? The answer is six. Six, one to screw in the bulb, and the others to turn the room around.
In the United States, we have many variations, by state, by gender...
    • In Virginia, six. One to screw in the bulb, five to remind us how the earlier one was better.
    • Among feminists, fifteen. One to screw in the bulb, fourteen to be supportive.
    • At Johns Hopkins University, two. One to stand on the ladder, a second one to kick out the ladder.
    • In New York, "What's it to you! It's none of your business."

From your photo, I can see that the workmen are much more efficient.
    Warm regards,

    Hello Lars,

My last visit to the UK was in 2011, no wonder I don't remember seeing the Shard. I was curious about the undistorted appearance of the building and just looked it up. I will place it in the group theme City reflections.

    Bonjour mon cher ami Philippe,

The well-preserved castle reveals its age, the narrow arrow slits must have been used before gun powder became available for a new age of canons and muskets. The clear blue sky provides a good background.

    Hello Paja,

What complex arrangement of cables — some high voltage, others for communication. But how can these be sorted. Are they all in use, or are new ones just added without eliminating the useless cables?

    Dear John,

I can't believe. Today we are actually next-door-neighbors. As usual, you've posted a very good shot with unusually good depth-of-field. Standing just on the side of the riding path, you've shown the parallel lines converging into the distance, with the lovely trees and foliage framing the scene.

    Hello Mariusz,

In this well composed and well-illuminated scene you give us a compelling photo of mixing of cultures. Two things I remember for a pair of visits to Bradford are first) a medieval bridge with a tiny chapel used by people in transit, and an actual Saxon Era house, dating back to the 9th century.

    Hello Ralf,

Through your photos, I have been enjoying a visit back to Oxford. The golden Cotswold stone used in Oxford buildings and these busts is actually quite soft. Periodically they erode, especially from acid rain created by mixing water with car exhausts. Approximately 40 years ago they were all changed. It is a tradition among the artisans carving the heads to select one under which to hide some coins. I wonder which one it is among this generation of "Emperor's Busts?"

Warm regards, and congratulations on your 300th post.

    Hello Ralf,

I was a member of the Department of Theoretical physics, about 1/2 mile to the left on Parks Road. I was also a tutor for Hertford College. The story I was told about the bridge (and I wrote about it a book) was that the buildings on both sides of the bridge belong to Hertford College, but they didn't want to hire a porter and door man for both buildings. The present office is in the building on the right, and there are no entrances for the building on the left... except over the bridge. Under the bridge on the left and just to the left of the trees is the house of Edmund Halley of Halley's Comet fame.

Thanks for a stroll down memory lane.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Jorge,

The photo is perfectly executed with high resolution and golden glitter. It's wonderful to see the famous gold mask on Trekearth. Just four years apart we toured Mycenae (2012 and 2016). We knew that the mask was on display in Athens. On our last visit, just last year in April I took a panoramic shot scanning vertically.

    Merhaba Sevgili Mesut,

A fantastic sunset ending the day. The old Meso Americans (Maya, Toltecs, Aztecs...) believed that at the end of the day the Sun God would be tired and would rest while being carried across the underworld. Then on the East the following morning it would wake up and begin its journey, fresh, across the sky East-to-West again.
As I look at your sunset, I can see how tired the sun appears.
