It looks very autumn-like, considering that October has barely started. I think you caught the ideal moment, with the couple holding hands being the only people visible. I hope you didn't have to wait there too long for the scene to appear! Regards, Ken.

I like the intense blue, Christian, and I like your composition with the ideal placement of the two solitary trees. It very much captures the feel of a cold, damp, still morning. Regards, Ken.

This reminds me of the photos taken by the Hubble Space Telescope showing galaxies and clouds of interstellar gas! This is much more down-to-earth (literally), but it's very well seen, Korkut. Regards, Ken.

It's a beautiful abstract, Marie--a literal "watercolor"! I like the way you put the lines on the diagonal, and included just enough of the bridge to make a nice accent. Regards, Ken.

Nice timing for this shot, Brian, when the shadows give the hills good clarity. Lots of detail from the low-angled light, too. You were lucky to have a haze-free day! The sky color seems slightly off, but overall it looks very good. Regards, Ken.

Shy and cute, indeed, Henry! The kids' smooth and supple faces contrast very well with the old worn wood. Great light on the kids, too, and great Velvia-like color. One nitpicky thing--I like the shallow DOF but it has a slightly artificial look, as though it's from artificial PS-induced blur; I can't identify exactly why. Excellent overall, though. Regards, Ken.

He doesn't look like a rich man, Wanda, but he does look like a dignified one, and you really captured his character well with this portrait. I like the shallow DOF, but with enough detail to show he's on a busy city street. I might prefer straight B/W but that's just my taste. Regards, Ken.

It looks like he's already got the pose mastered, hangin' on the fence watchin' the action. I like the B/W and the shallow DOF, to put the emphasis on his young-and-innocent version of the classic cowboy stance. Nice framing too. Perhaps a bit more contrast would make it more dramatic, I'm not sure. Have a great week, Barbara! Regards, Ken.

A world of shadows--yet interrupted by bright color and fresh paint, a kind of joyful randomness. Life can have both those sides at the same time, as well. A work of poetry (except I understand it better than I understand poetry, I think.) Regards, Ken.

Beautiful contrast between the left side and the right, Deniz. The left is a shadowy "night" world of anonymity and cigarettes. The right is an artificial "nice" world of restaurants and festivity, a place to hide from the world on the left. A technical feat to capture them both, too. Regards, Ken.

An amazing array of wildlife, Nicole--I guess a scarce waterhole will create that. It looks almost like a diorama in a natural history museum. I like the way the zebras are mostly facing left, while the gazelles in the foreground move right, showing how they each go about their own business. I'm sure the predators know it's a prime spot for hunting, so it must be a dangerous place for these animals. A memorable shot for you, I'm sure. Regards, Ken.

Nice of that person to wear orange for you, to match the building! The shot has a very Indian feel, and not just from the architecture. It's also the worn building, and the fact that even though it's a great work of architecture, the area in front is bare dirt, with a little garbage lying around. Nice framing in a tight situation, too. Regards, Ken.

It's different from our usual image of Spain--it looks more like northern Europe, with the gray clouds and lush forest, matching well with the rich brown of the stones. It's a nice touch to have people on the bridge. Maybe the image is a bit tilted toward the right, I'm not sure, but it's small. Regards, Ken.

I think a true friend would have gotten out the red jacket and worn it for you, Claude. ;-)

A beautiful landscape (not one we often see photographed), on an absolutely huge scale. I like the fact your friend is there in the photo, creating a note of "human insignificance." The colors blend together nicely, though they are subdued. I guess very soon it will all be white. Regards, Ken.

The way her chin shyly rests on her hand, it appears she is reverting to girlishness...and she's enjoying every minute of it. I guess that's part of what romance is about (at least if it's new romance), when you're over 50.

Nice tones, too, Cristian. Regards, Ken.

She has a very intense gaze, Marc, a gaze that says, "I'm tougher than you, and you know it." I like your framing that emphasizes the oppressive size and weight of the water jug and the sweat on her arms.

I suppose her grandmother would say she is "soft" because she uses a lightweight plastic jug instead of a clay pot...

She looks so toughened and hardened, Francine, as if her biggest concern is that someone is going to take away her prize...and as if that's happened before. Maybe a lot.

The light is really nice, isolating just her and her prize. I like the way she leans into the frame as she sizes up potential threats.

    Regards, Ken.

You're posting again--welcome back! (Not that I'm here as much as I used to be, myself, but I'm slowly ramping back up...)

The composition here is quite nice. The man and woman are clearly separated, unrelated, two figures (literally) passing in the night. The man comes out of the unresolved distance, where the lights recede into nothing. I can feel the damp cool stillness on my skin--that's how you know you got it right.

I'd be curious for the exposure length and ISO--surely you didn't use a tripod, yet the motion is more or less frozen.

    Regards, Ken.

The way for you to take a few really good photographs would be for you to put your camera away a lot, because right now you're taking a lot of really good photographs. This one really expressing the feeling of nighttime solitude, of echoing footsteps. A great combination of geometry and humanity. It would be nice with less noise, but what can you do? It's nighttime! Regards, Ken.
