    Hi Ney
i looked up that town of Bodie...looks very very cool!

I look forward to seeing some of those photos of the abandoned buildings :)

this photo brings back lots of memories because I too rented a white mustang in Las Vegas.

really like the large open spaces that exist in the scene. the landscape seems to go on and on for infinity.
    lovely shot

    what can i say?
    such a beautiful shot.
its like you took this one as you came out of the water from diving :)

    Hi Gerrit
this is certainly one of those photos that must be enlarged from the small thumbnail gallery to be fully appreciated.

and I'm glad I did just that.

love the grass and weeds in the fg, and how the green mossy water turns into blue.

the other great part of the scene is the tall sail of the sailboat.
    well composed

    Hi Ray
    awesome subjects!
    abandoned cabins!
this is a place that i'd love to check out for myself some day.

great to see the backdrop of the mountains too.
I see a small fence, can you go past it and get inside the cabins?

    Hi Gert
you know my love for the abandoned, the grit and the grime...so thats why that red Cart is the star of the show.

you're star of the show is the boy right! haha
    of course!

too bad the people in the bg aren't off to the side a bit as they distract the sight lines a bit when we examine the boy sitting there. but thats just nitpicking.

in this little photo package there are many interesting elements to be viewed and appreciated.
not to mention its making me a bit thirsty :)

another 10 out of 10 for quality from a scan!!

and i know what you mean about the photo being a bit dark on your computer...for me, the colors often are different when i upload the photo on TE. The colors are often MUCH MUCH duller and not as vibrant as the ones on my personal computer.

But your shot here looks fine, not too dark at all.
    fine post

    Hi Daniel
how could anyone NOT enjoy this shot.
seems like you had yourself some fine fine light and weather during your time here.
How many days did you spend in Porto, and how many in Lisbon...just curious.

lovely view point, lovely colors, and i especially like the two different tones of blue from the top to the bottom.

    excellent shot

    Hi Carlo
    haha...great looking shot.
its easy to see why alot of other TE members have been enjoying this one too.

soft water reflections which go from being a bit over exposed at the top to being a bit dim near the bottom and perfect in the middle :)

the two birds are a good focal point, it all works well together. good eye

    Hi Erling
yes, i remember seeing this one on FB as well.
good eye to capture this one, most people just walk right on by and don't notice the potential.

and the dim lighting actually works well, no overexposed portions to be seen that way.

    sweet shot.

I'm not sure how I missed this one your gallery!
I wonder if Daniel has posted a photo from this same position? He's been posting many photos from Porto lately.

and of course the church or Cathedral has to be the tallest structure of the city :)

really glad you included the blue colors of that building on the right, its a sweet introduction to the overall scene.

lovely exposure and light, its a beauty of a view too.

    Hi Rosemary
now this is a strange subject.
so let me get this straight...its basically just a lookout point? A place you can get inside and gain a bit of height and look out onto the landscape?

    very strange indeed.
and for obvious reasons it seems to be SO out of place with the natural landscape surrounding it - but i guess thats also the point isn't it.

    certainly caught my attention.
excellent photo for its subject, its uniqueness and the overall clarity and exposure too.

    Hi Bev,

The impressive structure dating back 140 years is beautifully explained by your note. It's evocative of the equipment I saw in Belfast two weeks ago: shipbuilders Harland and Wolff, had built huge slipways and graving docks to accommodate the simultaneous construction of Olympic and Titanic.

    Hello Gert,

Forty-one years and counting. In this impoverished land, people eked out a living. But then the imperial powers moved in, made the Taliban possible. The magnificent colossal statues in Bamyan were destroyed after standing sentinel for 1500 years. Maybe this young man foresees the devastation of his country, and the insanity to visit it.

I find the scan exceptionally good. The subdued colors, the textures of the cart and wheels are entirely realistic in appearance.

    Regards, Gert,

    Hello Klaudio,

A fascinating note and an interesting survey. I'm surprised that Seattle, Washington, whence Starbucks, Pete's and Caribou coffee all sprung, would have been among the leaders, and New York would not have been far behind.

The photo demonstrates excellent quality. I have not been able to read the name of Golf Club in the spoon, but the definition nonetheless is first rate.

    Warm regards,

    Bulent

    Hello Noel,

Painters who painted realistic images of scenes had to take their time to compose their creation. It took days or weeks to produce the final product. Modern photographers can click away at random, and by the scatter shot process perhaps produce a good composition. This could not be better composed! It's a beautiful photo of a beautiful scene.

    Warm regards,

    Bulent
