this is more than a street photo, this is painting with light! everything here is so attractive: spontaneity, long shadows, warm colors, transparency, incomplete figures as well as complete figures, movement, stillness, the iconic figure of the standing cart rider... a great one, which i hope to be able to approach some day.

i was in the brancacci chapel in 2004 and it was one of the most mesmerizing experiences i had in florence together with gozzoli's magi chapel in palazzo medici riccardi. of course, brancacci chapel is outstanding with the revolutionarily expressive figures of "expulsion from the garden of heaven", yet "raising of the son" part is also very interesting, raising those "who is who" questions and watering the mouths of conspiracy lovers :)
well, masaccio's work was further continued by filippino lippi, he repaired some destroyed parts (due to medici rivals existing in the murals) and finished some unfinished parts. the faces may have been altered by then, even adding some medici faces after their coming to power.
i haven't heard of any carbon analyzing or x-ray studies trying to date each face or seeing what is hidden beneath the visible pictures. that face in the middle could be lorenzo, imho.

i love your interaction with the irish gentleman and the story behind this photo. further, the composition is very well done, not only with the face but also with that charming house and the medieval sheep gate. "walled town" is also a very nice detail.

i had a good laugh after your description of "sinuous curves". then i enlarged to photo to see them in more detail... anyway, great sunset with crispy silhouettes. the blaze on the sea is magnificent.

ps: i don't believe there is a big risk for that photo, as i did very little pp work on it, though it may seem a lot. |

polar bears are wonderful creatures of nature, combining a wrathful power with a charm excessing that of our childhood teddy bears. you focused on the second part of it, look at those puffy paws :)
your photo makes me wanna go for some petting, though i still have some years to see, hopefully :)

the bug-degraded size of your photo is also quite nice, it still looks lovely in square format. even though i first felt happy about the large size issue, i share your worries about the possible thefts coming thereby.

great counterlight photo here with a wonderful new-large size. i like how you hid the sun with the tip of your sail and how the sail got semi-transparent thereafter.
ps: i don't get why your poppies got deleted by the mods. everybody is sharing flower photos from the fields nowadays and yours was a great example, i am sure that it was more than a treknature photo which are supposed to teach us about some botanics issues. so, that decision really makes me think about some double-standards and this thought caused many former members to leave TE. anyway, i'd just like to say don't take it personal, it happens to so many members and happened to one of my portrait photos in the past. just keep on posting photos without flowers and animals, you don't know when it is suitable to TOS and when not. the measures of the mods are obviously subjective...

there was a specific period in my life when i pondered and pondered about what might such modern artworks could be telling to their beholders. then i concluded that, especially after andy warhol, plastic arts turned completely into a mass production and consumption meta, so decided not to kill my brain cells any further to think about their deep meanings. (but they really can give funny and interesting photos like this). i love the cadrage and the darkness of contrast, and yes, it looks like an interesting work of the artist, probably telling stories about the consumerism, and the isolation of the system workers from the nature.

you keep on amazing me with the variety of your subjects and styles. after the woodpecker and christ, here comes a graphical architecture shot and further, in b&w. i would definitely go b&w as well, as is so much monochrome feeling in there. your note makes me think that women should go into the "male-classifed-business-areas" more and more. look at how this building blossomed in between the other two solid giants of concrete.

it is always a fantastic element for photography (and in cinematography as well).
it makes you think about parallel worlds, alternative dimentions and the questioning of reality. it is important what you see in the mirror, but what the mirror sees is maybe of more importance.

well, no offence for the actors and actresses in your photo (and i guess the young soldier is enjoying that strings duo), but my preceptions nowadays make me read this photo as "despotism applying hot pressure on youth" (i imagine it 90 degrees rotated clockwise). your discovery of the mirrored body languages amazes me too.
