Hello to the most intrepid and widely travelled member of TE.
a nice daily life shot. Life in this city seems to pass by in a tranquil, peaceful manner. You managed a nice point of view for this picture. I haven't before seen a goat pulling a wagon such as this. I know what it's like to find something closed - last April we walked all the way from Rome station to the Trevi Fountain and found it closed and covered for renovations! So did the other five hundred people who were there! The nearby bars and cafes were doing a good trade serving the disappointed people.

    Hi Noel.
Allow me to add my congrats to the long list for this exquisite reflection shot taken on a crisp sunny winter's day. You've captured the light and shadow perfectly and taken the colour saturation almost to its acceptable limit to give us those magnificent rich blue tones. Lovely photo.

    Hello Ra.
An excellent photo. I think the pastel colours still on the crumbling wall make this look almost like a water-colour painting. Superbly composed to take in the spade and the view through the open window. Well seen and nicely shot.

    Hi Christopher.
A nice splash of colour in the gallery today, and no doubt on the day you took it. I love the high resolution (and high quality) version, which allows one to see so much detail in the clothing of these two people. This certainly makes a change from the usual gondolier shots of Venice.

    Hello Roland.
A wonderful shot from an unusual perspective. I love this simple but very elegant composition, so well balanced. The blues, white and red make a great combination, and the open window makes a suggestion of life up there! Very nice indeed.

    Hello Ryszard.
This is a splendid architectural shot taken in a daily-life' context, with the passers-by and bikes adding the urban atmosphere. The high resolution version looks very sharp and allows an appreciation of the detail. I think the lack of sunlight only makes the colour of the stone-work seem richer and deeper. A well composed view of an elegant town hall building.

    Hello Serge.
A fine photo showing the terraced agriculture of the island. The stone walls make a very strong pattern on the hillside, leading up to the white house. A good composition which looks very sharp in the high resolution version. Nice work.

    Hello Arkadiusz.
Here we see that a white sky can work! A beautiful exposure, which captures superbly the stillness and the very hazy, pale light of Autumn. Good composition to provide the reflection, but including the closer trees on the left, which have the detail to stand out against the mist. Well done.

    Hello Jorge.
An interesting and bold shot, with the shadowed area so dark as to really highlight the carpets and the their pattern, which echoes the arch behind, and the further arch which we can see through it. Subdued and minimalistic but very atmospheric.

A warmly toned daily life scene which is also (almost) a double portrait. You did very well with the available light, and I found your technical information about the difficulties of taking the shot interesting. I hope things go well for you in Nepal.

    Hi Neil.
Nice bit of cropping to get this 'bookmark'-style picture of the craftsman at work. I couldn't really make out the cobbler in the thumbnail, but glad I opened it. I like this style of daily life photo, secretly sneaking a look into the narrow confines of a working-person's space. This cobbler looks to be a woman, no? I like the artistic approach to the shaping and colouring of the window in this remote place.

    Hi Will.
I understood the meaning of the title straight away, but thanks for the good read in your note. Loved the WS drawing too. In fact I watched the modern TV re-creation - showing how the modern Sherlock faked his own death - with Benedict Cumberbatch only a few nights ago. Very good b/w shot which might have been taken many decades ago. The shutter speed was fast enough to show the formations of power in the lower reaches of the fall. Excellent.

    Hello Rob,

HOPE is a most important word for all of us!
I'm pleased it was used by Barack Obama for he needed that sentiment when he took over his presidency. As Gert so ably noted, it will not be one that applies to Donald Trump if the American people are foolish enough to vote for him!!!

It's a great piece of art and sharply captured in your photograph.
I do like how it stands out against the black b/g.

I have the feeling that if it were cropped, tighter to the actual word, with the kiosk on the left removed, along with a little of the other surroundings, it would have seriously greater impact.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Malgo,

    What a charming shot!
I don't think I have ever seen a goat pulling a cart, before.
I suppose it won't be too arduous, pulling the children.
It is a very nicely angled shot to create a pleasing flow from f/g to b/g and such sweet children as a focal point!

You amaze me with your travelling!
I can just imagine you booking a flight to the International Space Station!

Have a great continuation of your holiday,
