    Hello Malgo,

Though there is no distinct focal point, what you do tell us is how vast and undeveloped this area is. It has a wonderful wildness! What a contrast to Cuba!
The green of the Steppes makes a smooth introduction to the almost threatening, cool character of the snow-capped mountains.

    My warm regards,

    Hello Kik,

WE all love castles, especially if they are in such fine condition and taken from a well considered viewpoint.
The lion, although not part of the building, makes an excellent starting point and fits in well with the idea of strength and power.
You have not only given us excellent details of the castle but given it depth and context by including the church and reflection.

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Ike,

You have taken a very fine, angled aspect for your photograph, creating a fine sense of depth and good guide lines.

It surprised me that it had once been a hospital, my immediate impression was one of an old railway station, maybe it reminded me of one I had seen before!
I was interested by the flags flying everywhere. Had there been a festival?

    Have a great day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Craig,

The more I see this, the more I realise what a quite spectacular building it is! It's way up in terms of the abstract!
The curves are wonderfully sinuous and mimic nature in a most elegant way!
A fine composition really accentuates the curves.

    Have a great day,

    Good Morning Danos,

A calm sea, complete with the warm colours of the setting sun, creates a wonderful, tranquil mood. Just add a silhouetted boat, strongly placed and the human element comes into play to complete the whole mood.
Oh, I wish I was there!

    Have a lovely day,

    Bonjour Denis,

Just imagine having this view out of your window!
Would you ever tire of it!
The rocky mountain and autumnally touched conifers make a great b/g for the well placed chalets and you have created a most effective guide with the fenced path.

    Good Morning Carlo,

Sometimes alternative plans work better than those intended.
This is a building worthy of attention and your viewpoint has made great use of its elegant curves.
The lamp is well positioned as a starting point, whilst the sunshine creates fine light conrasts on the facade.

    Hello John,

Some interesting notes to accompany your photograph. I did not realise just how recent Belgium became its own country. You make me feel guilty about my lack of knowledge concerning Europe.
You have chosen a fine viewpoint, using the gardens as a pleasing introduction to the main building and setting up contrasts in colours, materials and textures.
Although you are unsure about the purpose of the building, it is obviously one of importance from its size and position. It appears to be later in date than the building just in the b/g.
As always, the exposure is superb, the detailscrisp and clear.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Lars,

I am not surprised that this house is protected (it is what we would call listed) for it looks like a fine example of a timber framed house and will be centuries old. The style is very different from those found in the U.K., having a very chequerboard like construction.
Your photograph has great clarity so the details are easy for us to appreciate. The low, evening sunlight has brightened the facade in a most attractive way and you have controlled it perfectly.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hola Angel,

I cannot help but be impressed by the general cleanliness and the impeccable condition of the houses; this looks like a quality neighbourhood.
You have angled the viewpoint nicely, to give a strong f/g triangle, edged by the attractive balustrade. The trees and the lawn bring a freshness and a sense of the countryside. Maybe they add privacy to the occupants, too.
A very well exposed photograph giving excellent clarity.

    My warm regards,

    Bonjour Serge,

I have seen some fine photographs of this location but not any better than this. I like how you have anchored the f/g with the boats, which helps to set the atmosphere of the town, as well as creating a fine sense of depth.
The moored boats seem to compete vertically with the the eclectic mix of houses, perhaps symbolically establishing the importance of sailing!
A good dof and well saturated colours completes this fine shot.

    Hello Chris,

I'm captivated by this photograph. It's a place I have long wished to visit but can only see on film and photograph!
You have given us some excellent details of the f/g breakwater, the mood of the sea and the Citadel, with its huge protective walls, prefaced by tourists and fishermen.
The surfaces of the blocks indicate their use and condition.

    My warm regards,

Thank you for your detailed answer to my query. I think you are extremely brave to travel alone in a country which is undergoing such difficult conditions.

    Hello Ney,

This is a beautiful scene which you have enhanced with classical compositional skills.
The tree is very effective, acting like a natural frame but also linking together the lovely elements of land and sky. The stones give immediate f/g interest, display excellent textural details and help create a fine sense of depth.
There is a real sense of 'being there' which I find very satisfying.

    Hello Will,

Two girls, deep in thought, maybe just trying to solve a problem, or deciding on an outcome, who can say, but their closeness adds interest to the photograph. The fact that they were not aware of you, despite your closeness, suggests that they were wrapped up in their own thoughts.
It's a fine composition, especially with the textures of the surrounding stone being so good but, it is csrtainly the mood of the two girls that captures attention.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Gert,

I looked long and hard at the photograph before I read your notes. At first, I thought the boy was on a tower but realised it was impossible! What a great painting to entertain unsuspecting viewers!
I'm sure that the children think up games to play with it and, at the same time, they are remembering an ancient key, part of the city's heritage.
    A most unusual post.

I like the pale blue emphasis, with the warm light, just beginning to appear.

It isn't easy to find a new angle on something as frequently photographed as the Eiffel Tower but I think you have managed it, here! I really like what you have done, showing the huge spread of the curved legs and still creating a sense of immense, vertical height.

    Hello Philippe,

Birds can be quite unco-operative subjects and look away, or fly away, just as you have them in the best possible focus.

You have done well to get this bird facing camera, very well composed and with an exquisite reflection! In fact, the entire surroundings are reflected to give the appearance that this water loving bird is in the middle of a green forest!
A fine exposure in a difficult situation.
