    Hello Alexandar,

I have posted shots from Strasbourg and so have many other people but none is like this! This is individually beautiful! The darkness importantly wraps everything up in mystery and provides a total contrast to the lights and reflected images.
It's very much a pattern ... the imagination can fill in the rest.

Ha! Ha! Craig, I really get the feeling that there were too many people and too many rules for a dedicated and eager photographer to deal with! How could all these things get in the way!!

Whatever your inner aggravations you have still managed to achieve a fine photograph of the castle. You have shown its ruined turrets and keep within a verdant, Irish-green garden and proud against a lovely sky. There aren't too many tourists and those present add colour, scale and animation. See, it isn't all bad!

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Nicolas,

    A beautiful photograph!
The delicate lines on the bark, made visible by the thin covering of snow, seem to be the result of an etching.
This definitely seems more like n etching than a photograph.
Very well observed, composed and exposed.

I had no idea what this was from the thumbnail, only that I liked the composition, the shapes and the shadows.

    Hello Iain,

This is a cracker of a shot, with the most attractive subjects, in the way of bird and flowers. The composition is excellent, the bird off-centre and having plenty of space into which it can gaze.
I like how you have used the shallow dof to keep the focus pin sharp on your main subjects, with a good b/g bokeh.

    My warm regards,

    Hello Ney,

I have the greatest admiration for cyclists who tackle steep inclines, like this. It is very hard work!
He does, however, make a very good focal image, as he cycles upwards.
I wonder how much time he has to enjoy the beauty and the drama of the surrounding scenery.

Ha! Ha! Noel, I hope you had a safe pathway down, it looks to be getting quite dark for exploring rocky hill tops!
I like the name 'Strongbow' which indicates something about his fighting skills!

    It's quite a viewpoint.
No wonder it was chosen as the base for a castle.
I'm just surprised that it fell into ruin so early.
The descending rays add to the mood of mystery.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)
Surely others could have benefitted from its defensible location.

    Hello Ike,

Oh, this seems like so long ago!
It was a good night and we were so pleased to be able to meet up with you.
I thought, at first, that there were some Christmas decorations visible along the road but, I see, they are actually Hallowe'en masks and your notes confirmed that.
We don't have many night shots of Manchester and this is a good example.
The trees and the lights add a lot to the ambience.

    Kind regards,
    Bev :-)
p.s. I will add a w/s of a photograph taken by your daughter on my iPad. Sadly, the light was very poor for an iPad, but we do look to be enjoying ourselves!

    Hello Lars,

Bridges make such interesting subjects because of their many styles and shapes and because they usually include water, with its natural attraction. This is one which is unusual in style though not, perhaps, as long as suggested by its name. (I suppose we have seen so many modern bridges which have a colossal span.)
Let's not detract though from a bridge which is both attractive and serves a very useful purpose.
I like how you have included the nearside jetty, acting as a guide and anchoring the f/g. The fine weather gives excellent plays of light on the water's surface and lights the facade of the small fortress beautifully.

Do the vertical posts suggest a feature that was there previously?

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Serge,

When the Statue of Liberty is posted, it is often from a distance so we don't get to see the people exploring it. Here, it is easy to note the number and size of the figures and they clearly reveal the huge scale of Lady Liberty!
You have given her a very imposing presence against this beautiful, cloud streaked sky.

    Bev :-)

    Hello Jean,

It's hard to believe that this is your first attempt at photographing fireworks; it looks like a well-honed skill!

I love how much attention you have given to the exploding, flowers of fire. They deserve all that attention and look stunning against the dark sky.
There are enough lower details to give a context to the show and also, to magnify the sky display!

    Hello John,

There is so much to like about this photograph!
The huge winter sun, resembling some silver star, is obviously the main attraction in the pale, blue sky but beneath it is a very well composed, winter landscape.
I like how the ditch and its lone tree, act as a very effective pointer to the sun, whilst the low mist and the silvery hoar frost evoke a cool, mysterious atmosphere.

    My warm regards,

    Hello Stephen,

You have judged the aspect well, including the post to anchor the f/g and create a fine, natural link to the bridge.
The river makes a very colourful link to all the features as well as creating a smooth surface for some fine reflections.
The sunlight was particularly difficult, especially on white walls, creating huge light contrasts but, apart from a little oe, you have done well.

    Have a good Sunday,

    Hello Krzysztof,

I love this type of photography, where you use the sort of scenes we would like to see if we were there and give them a fine composition.
I have enjoyed sharing the paintings with the other customers and imagining their setting within the market place.
The images are sharp and assessible.
