    Hello Brenda,

You called it Jenga, my thought was Lego!
    Maybe an in-city lighthouse!
But, I have to admit it is one outstanding building!
You have composed it very well, off-centre, and showing it sharply against the blue sky.

I have seen quite a few sculptures by Anish Kapoor, in London. He did the helter-skelter structure outside London's Olympic Stadium and I once posted his work, composing of a pyramid of shiny, metalic spheres.

    Have a good w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Hola Angel,

The row of houses is so colourful with the vibrancy of the chosen paints, I can even see one painted purple, in the distance!
What a contrast they create with the low cloud and the dull weather, featured in the b/g.
Though the weather was not in your favour, the photograph is still sharp and the contrasts very effective.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello May,

The baskets make a most attractive f/g feature and an effective guide line towards the threatening image of the volcano.
In fact, there is a similarity of shape between the baskets and the volcano, as if they are mimicking each other!

I like how the f/g is sharp and colourful, whilst the b/g colours are dulled by the mist; it really adds to the sense of depth.

    My warm regards,

    Hello John,

Who would have believed that there was such a connection between Paris and Bruges! But, designers have to gain inspiration from other designers, then they adapt!

This is a lovely building and its style stands out despite suffering a dull, rainy day! You have considered the composition carefully so that we can see the dimensions of length as well as width. I also like how you have created a strong f/g triangle from the cobbled street.
For such a small city as Bruges, these buildings have been afforded a lot of space, essentila if they have a sense of grandeur.

    Have a great w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Serge,

It looks as if you have been using the benefits of Colour Efex to great effect.
I do like how how it has given a tobacco sky, with a ghostly moon appearing.

The sailing ships make a splendid focal point and you have used the quayside as a useful guide towards them.
There is a lovely sense of movement around the whole frame as we follow the guide from the quayside, right round to the liner, moored at the left.

    Have a good w/e,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Gyorgy,

Although the cyclist is actually crossing the frame, he does actually make a good link, via the converging lines of the buildings, and the cobbled street surface, with the second focal point, the tall church tower.
The street furniture appears to be creating an unusual gateway between the two.

    Hello Jorge,

Your photograph surely conveys the mood of the moment!
The ruins are in the b/g, preceded by a dirt track, acting like a carrot to the group, which is pictured snuggly contained under the shelter from the rain!
The umbrella is actually a very important element to reinforce the atmosphere.

I rarely travel with a group so that I can choose when and where to go, my only exception was at Pompeii, when we hired a guide on our arrival. He could explain much more than the guide book!

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Leslie,

Good to see you posting again!

This is certainly a rickety barn as revealed by your sharp image.
I fear for the safety of the tractor under its roof!

The low sun has given the barn a lovely, burnished colour.

The fence makes a most attractive, geometric shadow pattern with strong black and white contrasts.

    Hello Ike,

The name Flodden immediately reminded me that there was a battle between The English and the Scots at Flodden in 1513. I wonder if there was any connection!

Walls can tell us so much.
We can see the materials used inits construction and the style or purpose. This was so obviously defensive!
Above, we can see a new style, the stones being so much more worked or 'dressed' and probably for a much more social purpose.

Was the detailed section to the right a dedication?
It looks to have writing on the lintel.

The colours are warm and welcoming, a whole new mood from its original purpose!

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Daniel,

Your photograph surprised me because of the flatness of the land, just not what I expected from Romania.

It's a lovely serene photograph, long, sleepy and calm.
The repeating succession of moored boats, along with the soft light, gives this impression.

    Hello Murat,

You have chosen a really good viewpoint so that the strong textures of the wall can be appreciated before it leads us effectively round the subtle curve into the distance. It's a lovely composition!

I have a feeling that the couple on your right just stepped out into your shot but they haven't spoilt it, they suggest movement.
In fact, the figures add a sense of relaxation.

    Hello Stephen,

A whole new aspect gives a pleasing change from the common, centre aisle, leading towards the altar. I really like the whole, curved effect, starting from a strong vertical.
The soft lighting is very pleasing and calming.
I think I would have cropped the hint of the window? in the dome as we can't really tell what it is and it is a little distracting.

    Have a lovely w/e,

    Good Morning ~Craig,

Glad to hear that you are better. I was wondering where you were.
I've had a particularly nasty stomach bug ... glad that's over too!

Roof top scenes give us a whole new perspective on familiar places.
What a variety of roofs, windows and heights we can see here!
By their orientation, it is possible to work out the situation of the road.
I like how the small detail of the Seine adds a separation line and contrast.

    Ciao caro Silvio,

What you have seen here, is a lovely combination of different lines and geometric shapes, working together in the one frame.
Add to this, the wonderful, mixture of textures and the scene is almost palpable.
Ancient buildings and settings are wonderful for providing this mixture of details.

The lady on her mobile phone is the absolute antithesis, in that she is dressed in modern clothes and using a gadget that could never have been imagined when these buildings were erected!

    Have a good day,

    Witaj Krzysztof,

If there is one thing that I like, antique wise, it is old wooden furniture!
This is a superb example and your close-up has revealed its shiny patina as well as excellent, sculptural decorations.
I also love the parquet floor, it has such fine herringbone details!
