What an exquisite photo, the shallow pond serving as an unperturbed mirror, reflecting the intricate patterns of the tiles and carvings. When you consider the artwork, the love of symmetry, the mathematics and astronomy that existed in the 9th and 10th centuries, you realize that Islam peaked early. (It's unfortunate it took a wrong turn in the Middle ages, embracing mysticism over science and reason.) The University of Fez is indeed regarded as the oldest continuously operating university in the world. Leonardo Fibonacci di Pisa, in his book "Liber Abaci," essentially published the mathematics developed by Islamic scholars.

Hello Stephen,

A nicely a composed shot of life in the Mekong Delta. The colorful boats, I imagine "river buses" functioning like the vaporetti of Venice. They are so low that you could drag your hand through the water. What fascinated me in James Bond film in the 1970s, "Man with a Golden Gun," were the high speed canal boats in scenes of Bangkok. Do they still exist?

really should go back to Mallorca, it was the first place abroad I visited when I started work and finally had some cash. A lads holiday - so not much sight seeing but I do remember going to this place. Looks magnificent and you have captured the atmosphere of this part of the holiday island so perfectly. Wonderful!
