    Hi Costantino
    a very relaxed feeling here.
this is how I envision my future after retirement perhaps :)

just spending my day chilled and relaxed, no pressure!

the boat in the bg gives a good secondary subject to focus on too.
    enjoy your day

    Hello Jean,

This really is a very striking shot and certainly also a lesson in "Rule of Thirds" composition! Not only that but it is also a lesson in the physics of light, refraction and photography in general because I submit that it would be quite impossible to take a photograph like this at a huge aperture of f/3.3 on a DSLR (or any camera with a large sensor or film dimension) and still achieve such incredible depth of field. That door, I'm guessing, was probably only a foot or so away from you and the top of the stairway looks a good thirty or more feet away and yet both are still sharp.

Well, after that enlightening (?) discussion, I like this one! The colours and textures in that ancient wood and iron door are wonderful and those textures contrast well with the softer colours and tones of the enclosed stairway climbing into the distance on the right.

A very original photograph, very well seen and very well taken indeed.

    Fabulous!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

P.S. An interesting note about this place too.

    Hi Rosemary

    great shot!
I have to admire photographers who do these types of scenes.
I still have to 'train' my eye to see such scenes and notice the value of them.

For this one, its all about the facial expression.
the lean to his right and the grimace is awesome - from our point of view anyways!

    nice shot, great catch!
    cheers

    Hello Ourania,

What a curious scene - but so well captured by you - you were obviously very "quick on the trigger" to manage to catch this shot!

Perhaps the cat is trying to be intimate with his/her master (not that cats ever have masters or mistresses as they are so independent anyway) - but the man is just too busy concentrating on his mobile 'phone to be bothered with any intimacy.

A brilliantly captured shot with remarkable detail considering that it was taken quickly.

    Brilliant!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hi Silvio
you're showing me some places in Italy that i've never heard of before, and thats a good thing - always fun to learn right!

I'm no expert, but it looks like a classic Old Historic Italian Cathedral that we've seen in many photos here, including in your gallery too.

    beautifully rustic.
funny to see the street on the far left with the car passing by - i bet it wasn't like that when it was built! haha

excellent light and color in the sky
    cheers

    Hi Angshu
yes I have to agree that the insides of these mosques are quite something aren't they!

and of course the upwards POV is the best way to show it off in all its glory.

attractive shot, it stands out well in your gallery.
lots to like here with the colors and architectural style.

beautiful landscape. I like so much volcanic landscapes due to their amazing colors. Fantastic composition here with the crater making and interesting foreground and nice paths behind contributing to geometry. Presence of people helps to imagine the scale.

    Hi Noel,
wow this is a spectacular work. Fantastic processing here. Motif of the gate opening to a church was used by me several times in photos of churches in Ireland but you have used this idea so well, I like also the palm trees adding some more exotic touch here.
Very impressive, no words to give it a justice!

I cross my fingers for Scotland now and for it choosing the right way, whatever it may be...
I think I could guess your vote :)

Very funny capture here: the hairy bodies of men look so funny in the ballet dresses. There is some sort of contrast in it.
Nice close up of the performers.

    Hi Ann,
this is really impressive! It reminds me the Apostles in Australia (which I know form photos only) This seems possibly even bigger. Fantastic composition I like very much the presence of the person with a dog it adds so much life and interest and they were place here by you in the very best spot! I like the subtle mist further in the distance. Beautiful spot -perfectly used opportunity.

    Hi Abmdsudi,
    another masterpiece in your collection!
I like how nicely round you managed to preserve the sun shape. It is usually quite challenging. The silhouettes make strong points here: the one of the lighthouse but also the little boat far in the distance.

bardzo mi sie podoba to miejsce. Bylem tam nawet stosunkowo niedawno ale mialem beznadziejna pogode i wszystko wyszlo mi szarawo zreszta byly jakies koncerty i kamiennice byly zasloniete -tak wiec tutaj wszystko jest jak nalezy nikt niczego nie zaslania a pogoda sprzyja i kolory urzekaja roznorodnoscia.
    Bardzo ladna fotografia.

    Hello Satya,
This photo is also a prize catch. It is so well captured and well composed with a perfect and impressive foreground. I just love the proud grin of the second man from the left and I really like the crowd of people behind these men. There is a lot of colours and life and good action as the men are bringing back their good catch. The fish are heavy but it's not a burden that bothers these men now.
