    Witaj Piotr,

In 1990 I was giving lectures on a cruise that visited Gdansk, and I remember walking along the historic Long Market and Long Street. I like the vantage point you've chosen to give this remarkable view.

    Warm regards,

    Hello Ourania,

I'm sure that you're absolutely right with the identification of this fine looking motor car.

And if you had taken this picture back in the 1960s, it would have made a wonderful promotional photograph for an Alfa Romeo advertisement or advertising brochure!

The car is set perfectly in the frame and its deep blue colour and the gloss on its paintwork stand out beautifully against the pale sea, the red mountains in the distance and the red chairs on the left. And the two young ladies passing by (the one on the right looking almost as though she is about to enter the car) add a feeling of youth and freedom, just the features that car makers try to emphasise in their advertisements!

Very well composed, the tall lampost well placed, lovely light and colours and exceptional details and sharpness too.

    Lovely!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Neyvan,

An interesting note and a stunning photograph to accompany it.

You certainly know how to travel - Brazil to Qatar to Norway!!!

A fabulous photograph, especially when viewed on "beta" TE at its "proper" size of 1200 pixels wide, with gorgeous light and colours, fine reflections on the glass frontage of this amazing building and excellent composition with clever use of perspective and "lead in" lines and the inclusion of people who add both interest and a fine sense of scale.

    Beautiful!

    Kind Regards,

    John.

    Hello Eleu

With architecture this flamboyant, it would be hard to take a duff photograph. But yours is not just a straight mug-shot. Your choice of time of day (the so-called "blue hour") has added colour and light drama to the image. The artificial lights fighting with the blue "remains of the day" give us that classic colour-wheel blue/orange contrast. Very well managed.

    Hello John

Well, as a "pescetarian" I must comment on this photograph. Your friend the fishmonger is placed very well in the frame, and appears to be several feet from the nearest knife! The seafood itself I must say looks delicious. Your f/10 aperture has allowed for very adequate front-to-back sharpness. A good environmental portrait.

    Hello Dorian

When I saw the thumbnail, I thought you were playing with a super-wide-angle. On opening the image I was pleasantly surprised. The radical shape is architectural and not lens distortion! The monochrome treatment emphasizes the graphic shapes, echoed by the perspective lines of the wall and receding highway. And the time of day was well chosen too: still some definition in the sky, but lights in the building and car light-trails to add contrast and drama. Good work.

    Regards

    Hello Aleksandar

You spotted well the potential of this location to create a clever, and possibly symbolic image. I might have tried to omit more of the road on the left by maybe getting in tighter to the rails, but this remains a graphic and thought-provoking photograph: off the rails at the end of the line...

    Hello Abmdsudi,
You have chosen a very suitable title for this relaxed and slightly moody photo. I can just vagely figure out the dirt on the distant shore, but I don't see it clearly and I don't feel the smell, so I can just enjoy the quiet atmosphere of late afternoon and marvel at the reflections of the old buildings in the calm water.
    Kind regards,

    Hi again Trevor

This one has more of the classic look of an old film photograph, rather than the more "modern" digital extravagances! And it suits the subject matter perfectly. A timeless vision. BTW, I often add/subtract picture elements in my photographs, but I tend not to admit it, as it could be construed as breaking the ToS! I should keep mum if I were you!

    Regards

    Will

P.S. I always try to retain the whole frame rather than crop my images. And I never add frames. We'll get on like a house on fire if we ever meet up!

    Hello Satya,
This doesn't really remind me of a Palace, but it must have been grand in earlier years. Now it looks rather crumbling and about to be consumed by the subtropical vegetation and monsoons. It would not offer the comforts of the 21st century. This is anywy a fine document of the lifestyle of a not so distant past.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hej Boa,
Helt klart i bästa Wolfgang-klass.
    Hälsningar,

    Hello Kasia,
This photo might even have been worth a parking ticket and torn trousers. With all respect for Ukrainian frogs this will surely please more people :-). It's a masterly exposed photo and as perfect a composition as could be demanded, especially considering the short time you had to find the best place. Yes, this is very Dutch, and the morning haze seems to have been here since the 17th century painters last captured it. And how did you manage to find those fantastic clouds at the top? The WS photos are very neat and pretty but can't match this one.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hello Kasia

Despite your claim that you got up late, I know you are a morning person - I remember your photographs from Bushey and Richmond Parks. So this really comes as no surprise. But it was certainly worth it: the sunrise and mist create magical photographic conditions. The iconic (or stock) Dutch landmark is of course placed with masterly precision in the frame to counterbalance the old currant bun. Lovely work.

    Kind regards
