Wish I could read a few details about this building in a Photographer's Note, though.

This absolutely is not such an image! The thumbnail has the 'Wow' alright, but the main image is absolutely fabulous!!
No doubt the clarity of the air helps in capturing such amazing detail and colour but it still needs the photographer to create an utterly stunning image.
You may get the impression that I'm blown away by this one, and you'd be right. |

Well seen and well captured. |

I wondered initially if the bright area at the top was a distraction but without it the image really doesn't work anything like as well. The light breaking through at least gives hope for a decent day ahead. |

You have done a great job here. Without the landscape it would just be another memorial statue. You've done really well to retain detail in the cloud without out turning the statue into a silhouette. |

The tight framing works really well and the title really couldn't be better.
Even the posters in the background stick to the red, black and white theme.
Good capture. |

I like the composition but actually wonder about the b&w image as, for me, it lacks any great impact.
I'd love to see a colour version for comparison, maybe you could post it to workshop.
Welcome to TE by the way. |

After trying that I think it would actually spoil the overall balance of the image. I particularly like the reflection of the bridge in the lower right hand corner for some reason.
Only very minor criticism i cutting off the tip of spire at the top. |

I'm assuming the the lighter area at the top is another building. Initially that area is a little distracting but it quickly blends into the background given the strength of the other elements. |

Certainly not an image I expected to see from Ebbw Vale, although when you take in the background shops it's clear that not everything is bright, shiny and new!
The juxtaposition works well and the wet weather actually worked in your favour by creating additional highlights.
Nice work. |

I'm not surprised that they "didn't like me at all..." It's one thing to take photo's of a shoot which is happening in a public place. It's another altogether to get in the way of people trying to get on with their work.
I'm sure you wouldn't like it if the positions were reversed. |

Congratulation are due for that for a start! Subtle use of HDR is not a common occurrence in images posted here.
The level of detail throughout the image is superb but I can't work out whether I like the reflection broken with the lily pads or not. It certainly provided a very different reflection to the more usual mirror image. |

Beautiful composition and I love the soft colours. The slight rippling on the water prevents the image becoming just one more 'mirror image' shot. You have done well to hold the detail in the sky too.
Really lovely work. |

For me, despite the fantastic light, it lacks a real point of interest to draw and hold the eye. Also the bright area where the canopy of trees ends in the lower right is a distraction as is the fence panel on the left. The panel could have been cropped out without affecting the overall balance.
That light however is incredible. |

Great composition and that light!!! A critique is supposed to be a balance appraisal of an image, commenting on the bad as well as the good. The only problem with that is I can't come up with a 'bad'.
The position of the car is perfect in the frame. Lighting on the car is fabulous..... |

It's an image that can be viewed time and again, and new elements spotted every time. Working out what is reflection and what is 'original' is fun in its own right. |

Shape and detail of the foreground works to draw the eye toward the centre of the image without distracting from the overall image. The small areas of red in the mid section then draw the eye further in and hold at what can almost be considered a seperate image in its own right - the trees and sky.
The amount of detail throughout is stunning and not a burnt out highlight or underexposed shade area anywhere.
I'm guessing that some form of HDR technique has been used, and if I'm correct, this is certainly an example of how it should be used - (subtly!!) |

I like what I can see and the accompanying note helps make sense of the image. Unfortunately the image is very small and therefore the detail is difficult to distinguish.
Looking at the image data the file size is only 30k and it could be 300k. Also the maximum dimensions are 800 pixel on the long edge and you have only created an image 333x25 pixels.
A larger image would be much better for critiquing purposes. |
