    Hi Brenda,

Impossible to overlook the meaning and heartfelt emotion behind this memorial site, but I'm leaning on the details of this shot more than the previous. What a great point of view to emphasize the sheer size and space. And then to have the backdrop of the museum and skyscrapers is a super collection of geometric shapes and detail. So much has changed since I was last there in '07, this will have a big impact once I return to see it in person. The people lined along the middle of the frame give a tremendous sense of scale to the entire frame, this has been well composed and once again respectfully presented.

On a lighter note, please feel free to take some of this summer heat off our hands. :) Fortunately I haven't been negatively affected by any of the monsoon storms in the part of the valley I live, but the storm yesterday really did some damage in the Northwest. I even heard today that it made the news in Germany. Crazy weather we have here! Enjoy those cooler temps of yours, winter will be here soon. Mwhahaha! Take care.

    Friendly wishes,

    Jason

    Bonjour Didi,

You may have missed the blue hour, but it certainly doesn't take anything away from the beauty that is Chenonceau. I can still make out a touch of color in the sky, but worry not, the dark color actually provides nice contrast against the night time lighting. No matter the angle or viewpoint, this castle continues to provide ample photo opportunities...and you've done a great job in showing its many faces. A superb reflection to compliment the sharp details and clarity of the flood lit exterior. Bonne journee. All the best.

    Amicalement,

    Jason

    Hi Craig,

I missed this one, so I have to backtrack just a bit.:)

We have plenty of similar instances throughout the States, and I'm guessing Canada too, but is it just me...or do they seem to be more aggressive in Europe when they're vying for your attention to come and eat at a restaurant? I've been given that same crooked eye many a time when I haven't stopped for a "tourist trap" meal. Of course, I tend to stand out as a tourist, so I'm an easy target. lol

Awesome display of this tiny village, glad you "stumbled" on this marina to get this shot, it's quite picturesque, to say the least! As you mention, full of lovely pastel colors and small town charm. That wide angle once again works tremendously well, the perspective has an ever-so-slight pinch which pulls me right into the center...not at all harsh, just perfectly suited for this kind of composition. And great too that you have a local fisherman working in his boat. Colors, clarity and that Italian allure...it's all here under a sunny sky. Beauty! Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take it easy.

    Arrivederci,

    Jason

    Hello Bulent,
What a creative photo! If you hadn't explained how it was actually taken, I would have believed that you used an underwater camera. :-) I like surrealism, and this is definitely a surreal composition. The ghostly water figures and watery shadows are lovely. It's nice to find something unexpected and interesting like this.

    Bonjour Cricri,

Ciao.

    Bisous,

    Jason

    Hello Terez,
I recently posted my own small series about the 9/11 Memorial and I found it eerily beautiful. I like your chosen POV, with some of the names showing in the foreground. There was still a lot of construction going on when you visited, and there seem to be less people. It's a lovely photo, but I do detect a slight tilt to the right.

    Hi Serghei,

You have a creative mind, and this is proof! Always fun to try out new ideas, and this one has been planned out perfectly to portray the effects of water displacement. :)

Big splash, and big excitement in the imagery...putting the scenery into live action, even if it's from an artificial source. lol

Love the concept, and the result is eye-catching. Details and clarity are sharp, and the broken surface of the water holds an exciting appeal. Sometimes all you need is a good rock and somewhere to throw it, yeah? Smart, amusing and very well executed...next time, try skipping one as well...let's see how fast those camera fingers can react. :) Have a great day.

Friendliest wishes from the dry desert,

    Jason

    Ciao Carlo,

I'm glad you enjoyed my picture of the Vespa's, and thank you much for the kind compliment. It always makes me happy when something from a picture has a distinct and personal connection with the person who may be viewing it and can immediately relate...especially from so far away. :)

It would appear this is also shelter and shade for the feline species. It's a small element here, but the cat really draws my attention with that curios looking pose..."What's this person pointing at me, should I run away, or stay for a nice, cool nap??" :) Great framing through this archway, the natural progression of depth is well conveyed. The subtle colors are also a very nice touch. Enjoy the new day. All the best.

    Friendly wishes,

    Jason

    Hello Jason,
You can definitely keep the heat out west! We are having an amazing summer with almost no 90 degree days this year. It's heaven. :-) Nice Arizona shot, and I like the slight tilt. That artistic sun, and the words clearly telling us what this building is, are very attractive. I hope none of the recent flash floods have caused you any trouble.

    Hi Burak,

This one has just become my favorite from your port series. I love the mood you've captured at this most opportune moment of light and color. The boats are so well lit against the dark water and fading sunlight along the horizon. Each color works in harmony to help create that pleasant atmosphere. You've definitely extracted the most from this scene. Very well done! Enjoy the new day. All the best.

Hola Miss Maria de las pampas,

Ahaha, this is great...I love the connection between namesakes! Even without the name, this would have been a very well taken and presented image. I really enjoy the "every day, working mans" appeal of this shot. Completely unpretentious and down to earth, this has a lot of the qualities of a true moment in time for one of the locals. His casual stance, hands in pockets, looks and feels natural...and although the expression on his face might say otherwise, I'm sure he was happy to have you take his picture. :)

Always great to place the main subject within the working environment, both man and horse. :) I'm sure in his youth, he was also a "stud." lol Even lighting, warm rustic colors, and lots of fun detail. Cheers to all the Maria's out there! :) Enjoy the rest of the evening. Be good.

    Friendly wishes from the North,

    Jason

You and Tosca really seem to like these punishing adventures! I would never make it. :-) The color of the water is very interesting; it almost has a milky look to it, too. Great scenery, with the mountains in the background, and a split view of the water and the ground in front.

    Hello Ann,
I like this kind of vertical beach composition. I have a photo similar to this one in my favorites. The chosen crop and POV create a kind of optical illusion, as if the ocean were rising straight up. The layers of waves are really nice, and the lone rock and small number of people complete this excellent scene.
