    Hello Stephen,

At a time when most towns, which used to boast many cinemas, have lost the ability to watch films, it is interesting to see a large, modern cinema being built. I suppose film stars still dominate gossip in our newspapers!
The zigzag nature of the glass walls offers wonderful opportunities for reflections and distortions, all adding interest to your photograph. There is a nice balance with the umbrellas, whilst the blue Odeon pole is strongly placed.

    Kind regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Ourania,
It is strange how a slight change of POV can dp so much for a photo. At first glance this is very similar to your earlier photo of the same view, but with the "windmills" included the foreground is totally different. Even comparing the pictures I couldn't quite make out how you have moved between your photo sessions. It's like the windmills were quickly built while you moved between the two spots :-). Apart from that, the sea still shows the same fine reflections making the surface shine like silver.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hello Brian,

The repeating windows and balconies, with their red and blue colours, create a very attractive façade. There is always something so very attractive about living next to water. It must be primeval! Your photograph is beautifully composed with a fine clarity. Though there is no blue in the sky, those billowing clouds make a fine backdrop.

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Maria,
It's not easy to capture an almost unique view from one of the best known places in the world, but you really managed that. Only two persons seen in the Red Square in broad daylight must be very unusual. Regarding the angry guard in the WS I am amazed to learn that these Soviet instincts of forbidding photography are still so strong in people's minds. In countries like Albania or Romania, that used to be very tough and secretive, it is now possible to take photos anywhere in the streets. I never met anyone that tried to stop me.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

Simple but very familiar scene, this view reminds me a lot of places where I've been. And I always have got one question how the owners reach out their boats? By another boat? ;)

    Hello Mariusz,

So you got here at last!
There is a lot to photograph!
I like this viewpoint which shows the lovely sandy beach and uses the curve of the headland to focus on the castle and priory. The evening light is selectively highlighting important features for us to enjoy.

    Hello Roland,
Another graphically fine composition, appropriately converted to B&W. The cyclists are well spread out along the white lines and the large E is a fine detail. It gives the photo a nicely mysterious appearance, since we don't know what the letter stands for.

    Hello Gert,

This is such a busy, dusty place, so full of activity. There is so much to see, it's almost like a still video!
Apart from the bicycle and the named tea chests, there is very little evidence of 'modern life'. It is like stepping back in time, further than forty years!

I take your point about not wishing to intimidate by focussing on women but, in a large, general scene, like this, you would expect to catch a glimpse of one, without her being the main focus of your shot.

    Have a lovely day,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Ourania
This is a superb view of the coastline with the windmills that make a very attractive contrast with the brown grass in the foreground. The buildings scattered along the coast look traditional and hence so much more charming. The shimmering water of the sea gives the picture a fine sense of movement. I like very much the haziness deeper into the frame for the depth and naturalness that it provides. Excellent camera work and thanks for sharing it.
    have a great day

    Hello Delphine,
I like the view of the busy narrow street where so much is going on. It is a bit dark, because you didn't have time to arrange the settings. That is not a big disadvantage, since the street seems to have been all shady, but with some further processing some more details could have been brought out of the shade.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hello Satya,
This is an interesting and valuable document, so different from most photos posted here by you or anyone. The real tragedy of the devastation is understood when comparing with the workshop photo. It is sad to see nature destroyed and people's livelihoods being threatened. In spite of these sad facts I can't deny that this photo has a certain graphic beauty of the trees stretching their broken branches against the sky.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

Detta är en lustig komposition. Vattnet är så stilla och blankt att man knapp ser att träden är speglingar. De ser faktiskt ut att vara vända upp-och-ner. Färgerna är fantastiska.

    Hello Didi,

I can think of no more peaceful or satisfying way of travelling than on a canal narrow boat.
The curve of the canal bank draws viewers immediately into the shot, where the boat is perfectly placed. Its reflection and occupant make it even more interesting.
The canal stretches before us, creating an excellent sense of depth and journey.
