    Salut Ourania,

This photo plunges us directly in the field like if we were there, maybe because of the way the trees give the impression to surround the viewer.

The fortress on the top of the mountain is the focal point, despite its position in the background, while the foreground offers a sense of the place.

    Regards,

    André

    Salut Denis,

    Hi Chris,

Catchy vibrant colours from vegetation attract the eyes in the first place, before admiring the details of this temple. An array of man-made and natural splendors.

    Well done!

Oh my God... You've been in India Craig, so by now, you must be hooked, as there is no destination as exotic and exciting as India, to truly loose all your references.

Colors, smells, nice people, striking discoveries, awesome food, delhi belly, everything is there to create the most memorable moments..

Barbers represent a nice theme that I enjoy myself in various situations, and this one is interesting for the expression of the client and the arms of the barber that suggests command and control, while remaining anonymous.

But Craig, this scene is begging for more light, as you haven't post-processed it in order to bring attention on the face, or at least to illuminate it. The most important part of that frame is actually in the dark, while the shirt is grabbing all the attention!??

Because the expression is intriguing and defines the emotional link with the subject- a sense of abandon, I would have been instinctively guided to get a closer capture, so the face and the arms would have become the ultimate elements of the image.

When you think about it, being shaved by another person, surrendering your face to someone else is quite an act of intimacy, so by framing the scene tighter, you would have emphasized this moment, you would have highlighted the scene in an extraordinary way.

Making photography is to know what is essential to keep in the frame, and ignoring what is not necessary. In this case, the magic, the centre of interest is all between these two hands and the face; the shirt, as well as the garbage in the background are far from being desirable in this frame and they completely distract from what this photo is all about.

You would have focused on the upper half of this photo, framed horizontally, and you were having a stunning shot in your hand, as I really don't see what the lower half can possibly bring to the image, what kind of contribution it makes.

The moment was perfect, the face framed by the hand was exceptional, the expression is delightful (almost like a ritualistic moment), but by including this shirt that overtakes the rest of the scene, the focal point is diffused and lost through unnecessary details.

But I salute your guts and initiative to try other subjects than buildings; and you are right, India is a great place to shoot people, as they are as interesting as they are interested. I will keep following your Indian trip through your photo, as I am both jealous of you, but also happy that you have discovered this fabulous country.

    Cheers!

    Hi Mesut,

The integration of the pedestrian with the mural is very subtle and well seen. I like the fact that we have to look at your photo a couple of second, before realizing what's the visual pun. Good timing and nice idea, well executed.

    Cheers!

    Salut Claude,

    Ciao!

    Hello Abmd,

And i still get to see such photos on TE, makes me smile brother, you talk about charm, i can feel the mood here, subtle in light and shadow, in textures of the wood and the stone below. the man stooping in the glow makes this just so cinematic, a start to an interesting story..these are the ones that count..

have a great year ahead, in health and happiness.

The surreal saturation of the wall give evokes such feelings. similar to the alleys seen in morocco. i just wish they could keep these places vehicle free too like the Fes-Al-Bali which boasts of being the world's largest car-free urban area (would that be carbon-free ? i wonder. i can almost smell the gasoline and the warmth of the sun in this one. perhaps the alleys are just wide enough to put it to good use, practical use. how long would you have to stand to find your subject, this photo is begging for one. this takes me back, for a brief but delightful moment, thanks Klaudio.

Wish you and the family good health and an eventful new year..

    hugs

Strange if you preferred rome to iran, i think it would put you into a dilemma. which would feed your senses more ?

i like the use of the little girl, but just too many people you know at these places, would i wait for a woman robed in black with her daughter ? probably yeah :) Less is always good. having said that i would prefer a higher 'f' ;)

So a short hiatus always does good, i didn't miss much did i, how are you Klaudio ?

I start with this one, something i have never seen earlier, i have seen the stained glass from all over and have seen the beautiful colours off it, (i miss the stained glass window in my house staircase, similar arch) but never seen art and optics used tastefully, so creatively.

i prefer this photo in its purest form, the man couldn't be avoided i guess. but gives a sense of scale.

the new year is around the corner, gearing up for it, or travelling to quench the soul ? ;)
