This was a terrible tragedy Lisa and not only has it sent Australians reeling but the rest of the world too. My thoughts and good wishes reach out across the ether. One thing I am so impressed with is the I'llRideWithYou campaign.... something positive to come out from a dark day.

    Take care dear friend

Hello Noel - I like the wintery atmosphere of this shot where we can see the Four Courts through the leafless branches of the trees. The delicate branches in the upper RHC balance the shot and add further to the mood. I do have a concern though about the chromatic aberration which has given a strong purple fringe to the delicate twigs. It is worth getting rid of this in your PP work. I have done a very quick WS to show you what I mean. I am not sure what editing program you use but here is a link to an article that explains it quite well. http://markbobb.com/technology-tips/photoshop-hints-chromatic-aberration/

Hope all is well, warm regards

Hello Gert - I find Communist 'art work' fascinating; smiling faces extol the wonders of the political system. I did a quick Google translation of the w/s poster and it says something like Striving for a prosperous people and a firmly defended strong nation I can relate to that! Both shots are really interesting and I do wonder how a country like Vietnam which is populated by industrious people (who seem to have a natural capitalist/ business bent) work within the system. It seems to me so un-SE Asian.

    Two very good shots.

Hello Ourania - I do like this, it is quiet and makes me feel as if the world is holding its breath. The softness of the colours of sea and sky are very lovely and it's good to see that Leros also has a winter mood to show and it's not all summer sunshine.

An elegant and understated image... perfect for the winter mood.

Hello David - The colour palette of this shot is really attractive and I like the composition with the boat well placed in the frame. I also like the reflections on the wet sand. The shot is slightly over-exposed which is a shame as all the detail in the white shutters has been lost. Otherwise a pretty scene.

The Christmas decorations look wonderful under the inky blackness of the sky and I have to say that the Festive Season has far more cache in the colder climates than here in the heat. Here everything looks quite dowdy when compared to the brilliance of our summer sunshine. I'd love to experience a European Christmas again... the food beats a BBQ any day.

We are melting in the heat here John and I would swop you for a few hours of cold! Your scene shows off the weather to perfection... it's been a long time since I saw frozen puddles like these and walked across ploughed fields that are so hard one doesn't get muddy boots. I like the winter palette in this shot and you have some lovely textures across the farmland. Looking at the distant hills I see the chance of more snow and here I sit with the a/c belting away.

Hello Serghie - The calligrapher's actions have me fascinated and more than a little curious about what he is writing. It won't be many minutes before his words have evaporated. Could his fleeting pavement art be a quiet protest where the evidence will soon have vanished?

Warm regards and thanks for a most unusual post.

Vibrant with colour this scene is a treat to see and works so well with your note Luciano. I can imagine that the atmosphere was wonderful with the local population feasting and celebrating in flamboyant Brazilian style. The celebratory meal you describe sounds wonderful, did you taste it?

What an exotic destination and a fascinating post.

So many of these tall towers are a challenge to photograph Carlo but I think this shot shows off the situation of narrow alleys and tall Medieval buildings very well and I can easily imagine myself walking here and looking upwards.

The numerous Coats-of-Arms make an interesting detail.

This is so fascinating Brian, I have never seen such a wonderful close up of the iconic clock face and tower before and the details are fabulous. I am most impressed with the way you have managed the perspective, the image is absolutely square to the frame... what is your secret? A magnificent and beautifully detailed image.

Vietnam is a country I have not visited but intend to one of these days Gert. Although this little trio are archival I do not doubt that it is possible to see such scenes today. The details here are interesting, I wonder what concoction the lady has in the bottle? nước mắm (fish sauce) to season her bowl of food perhaps. She looks very smartly dressed so I imagine that the hat and bag business does a good trade.
