    Hello Daniel,

The shallow balconies, if you can call them that, are reminiscent of some French style architecture in New Orleans, Louisiana. What is unusual here are the colors. The combination is highly complementary.

    Hello Craig,

Thanks for alerting me to the newest edition of Blarney Caste that you've posted. Using a fisheye lens you've emphasized the height of the structure. it's an effective shot. With the tiny windows that can be used as arrow slits, the place is imposing and probably quite impenetrable.

    Hello Stephen,

As I've said in the past, selecting the edge of a building as a focal point, as you've done on the right, you create an excellent example of two-point perspective. The building looks like it might date back to the early 19th century.

    Merhaba Murat Bey,

The bird is indeed seeking an appetizer, main course, and a dessert... but are you sure this is a gull? The one thing I recently learned about birds is that what I thought were the knees turn out to be the ankles. Everything below that joint is part of the foot.

The still waters of the beach offer an effective backdrop for the image of the bird.

    Hello Bev,

I like this simple photo for the subject, the neat and clean lines of the tram and the architecture. I imagine this is a pedestrians-only arcade, with the wet pavement adding atmosphere. The travel agency in the background advertises a most welcome scene presumably from the Mediterranean.

    Hello Luis,

Such an eye-catching facade for the curved roadway of houses. The individual houses are painted in pastel colors, and they are all raised about 20 cm off the roadway, I imagine to keep rainwater out. The unusual texture of the road, with the stones embedded like mosaics must create useful friction for pedestrians and for car tires.

    Greetings Roland,

This is a superb shot from Bern, the cleanliness, order and management all on display. It reminds me of a joke that few Americans can understand about European personalities. It seems a man dies and meets St. Peter. "Welcome," St. Peter declares, "Your are a borderline case, and I want you to know what is behind each door. This is the door to heaven, and there the policeman is English, the engineer is German, the chef is French, the manager is Swiss, and the lover is Italian. And over there," St. Peter continues, "...is the door to Hell! There the chef is English, the policeman is German, the engineer is French, the lover is Swiss, and the manager is Italian!"

The colors of Kathmandu could just as easily be the colors of Sweden. It's a wonderful shot of a slice of daily life, bringing the bananas to the market. What I also like here are the old padlocked doors. Indeed, let's put this one as an unusual entry in the group theme, Old Doors.

Indeed, I saw your reflection before I read the note. It's a good self-portrait. Seriously, there is here a reflection of Swiss order, and good management. Witaj Krzysztof,

The talented still-life artist is a specialist in floral arrangements, and quite good. Rather the pink and red, I like the small dark blue flower arrangement in the center. I think I mentioned to you that when we visited Gdansk in 1990, we spent a day at the marketplace and I bought several paintings from the artists in residence. Now they are almost 37 years old.

    Sevgili Mesut,

This is an eye-catching photo, with the family preparing to go in to the Mosque. The father appears to have his prayer beads handy, as well as a mobile photo. Someone should design and App with prayer beads on the screen, so that people like this can take care of both necessities of life checking email and praying at the same time.

    Hello Brenda,

Now here is an excellent photo by you that I had missed critiquing, but one that is a source of ambivalence. The Inauguration is this weekend, and I approach it with trepidation. I wish, the owner/operator of Twitter would simply ban "him" from the site, I would feel a little safer.

Regarding, my second and more unpleasant experience on the top of the Empire State Building. It was the Spring of 1976, from Princeton, we took the day off so that I could show him a little of New York. I parked my car on a street next to the Empire State Building. We took the elevator to the Observation Deck and walked all the way around. I could see the car hundreds of feet below, and suddenly a small gang of hoodlums broke the passenger side window, climbed into the car and removed everything that was portable. It was the most frustrating experience I could imagine, so close and totally helpless.

    Have a good Sunday,

    Hello Kasia,

An engaging note with a hard admission, "...paying with a 1000 rupee note." It's dilemma and I've faced it myself. The pho itself is well composed shot. You've presented the full oval of the dish, placing the vendor in the ideal spot. If you were to measure the full width of the frame and take the golden section (0.618) parts measured from the left, the vertical line would go through the inner edge of the woman's left-eye.
