Thank you for your descriptive notes, Noel. Despite all you have told us, my immediate impression still prevails, that the sculpture reminds me of Julie Andrews, as Maria, in the 'The Sound of Music'! I suppose it is the extension of the arms, welcoming all to come and share the scene. I know the sculpture doesn't resemble Julie, it is very much the mood!
The cloudy sky actually makes a pleasing backcloth, very much complementing the sculpture.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hola Angel,

You have a great affinity with narrow streets and cobbled surfaces! This is another fine example, which could hardly be improved upon compositionally.
I like how you have included the lady, who makes a good focal point, and we can share her journey into the distance.

    My warm regards,

    Ciao caro Carlo,

A fine study of the Tuscan countryside.
The colours are amazing, with the house sharing a similar colour to the f/g.
    It is wonderfully minimalistic!
    Less is definitely more!

I would just like you to crop a little of the sky so that the horizon is less on the centre line; it would, also give more of a panoramic effect.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Hello Jean,

A fine photograph capturing the costumes and the dancers at the Folk Festival.
It's pleasing to see the interest of so many spectators.

I particularly like the shadow, which is mimicking the folk group ring.

    Hello Nicolas,

I have just travelled home from visiting my son, where the sun made a wonderful display, reddening the sky with deep colours. What a pity I hadn't taken my camera!

You, on the other hand, were ready for such an occasion and have shown us a wonderful sunrise, where the sky is streaked with amber and gold lines and even the jet trail is coloured! There is just enough information about the land, with the silhouetted inclusion of the mountains.

    My warm regards,
    Bev :-)

    Bonjour Serge,

I do wish people would look at photographs on the Beta site.
On that site, this looks superb with its clear exposure and fine textural details.
The repeating, open windows add 3D interest as they follow a whole different plane from that of the building.

    My warm regards,

    Hello Kasia,
I was just about to turn off the computer when I saw this, so I had to wait for the workshops too. This looks a bit like Australia or Nagorno-Karabakh at night, doesn't it? ;-) The main difference are the warm lights from the cars passing by in the darkness. The marvellously clear sky makes me think it was a cold night. But you are of course used to waiting patiently for perfect exposures no matter how cold it is. The workshop of the road reminds a lot of Afghanistan, which is fairly natural. I was surprised to see that this is not the first photo from Sost, but at least the first for 10 years.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hello György,
It's an architecturally interesting place and clearly well suited for a wide-angle photo. The man in the wide trousers and straw hat is more interesting than the tourists in the WS, and this photo also has the advantage of showing the sky. Otherwise the colour version is also nice, especially by giving us a closer look at the fine poster. But I guess you made the right choice of main upload anyway.
    Best wishes,
    Gert

    Bonsoir Roland,
your clouds are marvellous, I like very much their rich texture and luminosity as well as the way they form a compact layer and leave the rest of the sky clear. The colours of your picture are vivid and lovely, there's a deep and very interesting scene in the foreground. I also like the graphic contribution of the railing, the off-centre placement of the photographer and the reflection of the clouds. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

    Hello Rob,
It would be great to see a similar photo from above of the tower you showed a couple of days ago, but for that you would really need a drone, or at least a helicopter. But this view is stunning enough. This cathedral really looks a bit out of place on Manhattan, but it's a fine work of architecture, although I would have preferred something less medieval European. Did you take this through a window? In that case the sharpness and clarity are really impressive.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hello Noel,
it's great that you managed to get a close and thorough view of the watch tower and the large natural scenery around it without including any of the people that visited the site that day. The scenery and the sense of being in a remote and unknown place are so fascinating. I wonder how the guards, who had the duty to watch over the ocean, felt and if they did any special service to their army. The depth and the colours are marvellous, I really like the textures and the 3D effect of the tower. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

    Bonsoir Denis,
you selected your point of view with great care and your composition is effective and interesting. I like the placement and the balance between the principal features of the old church: the stairway, the cross, the door and the belfry. The textures are superb and give such an interesting character to the subject, I also like the moody colours and think that the shadows are absolutely fascinating. Congratulations and thank you!

    Hello Danos,
This is a view of the Acropolis I had never seen. I don't think the museum was ready when I was in Athens the last time, in 2009. Obviously it has just been raining and the sky is clearing up. The clouds look fantastic and are really the best feature of the photo, but the light is also very good with a kind of fresh clarity after the rain.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

    Hello Angel,
You have shown us many photos of narrow streets between white buildings, but this is different. The woman near the camera provides a good focal-point, and along with the two women further back she also gives good depth to the photo. Usually this is provided by bright flowerpots, which are missing in this place. I actually like the lack of strong colours and bright sunshine, A village like this has a great beauty also in a dull weather of December.
    Kind regards,
    Gert

this is an interesting, selective point of view to show some of the principal characteristics of the interior as well as the atmosphere inside the church.
