A simple view but a very nice one, deserving some attention. The girl is charming as she looks from behind the ancient slab and the glimpse of pink adds a fine contrast to the green dominance. This is a good combination of daily life and culture. This would have looked a lot more boring without the girl. (And you probably wouldn't have shown such a picture.)

I think this is just about as good as a postcard of your kind can get. This is the kind of picture you do better than most. Perfect colours and sharpness, interesting buildings and this time also a statue, and just enough people to enliven the view but not crowding it.

As long as this is your own photo it seems all right to use your son's title ;-).
Apart from looking like a huge A, penetrated by a pen, this wooden construction offers us a number of diagonals, angles and triangles. The nuts and bolts provide further fine details and the patterns of the wood itself are very nice. The blue sky has given you a perfect background.

This is a well composed and well timed photo. I enjoy the quiet simplicity of the view, just a man walking hurriedly across the bridge. There is not much more, but we can see from the man's legs and arms and his face that he is walking quite fast with a lot of things on his mind. The red railings frame the view perfectly and are very eye-catching.

I enjoy your sports photos very much. You are very good at capturing the most exciting moments, also those that probably hurt most. I love the intensity of the bodies and the strong feelings expressed by the players' faces. The sharpness is perfect on the poor man nearest to us.

Really, as a waiting room at a hospital this looks nicer than most I have seen. Great colours, nice smiles and lots of interesting details to watch. I don't really want to know what it may look like inside. In Vientiane in 1973 I had to renew my cholera protection and went to a hospital to get a shot. The following night my arm got very swollen and hurt, I had a high fever and spent the night hallucinating. Then I got better and continued my journey :-). Whatever happened, I have survived 40 more years after that.
Kind regards,
Gert |

This is an original portrait of a kind rarely seen on TE. You have converted it to B&W beautifully and the perfect sharpness allows us a unique view of the woman's ornaments in the finest details. Along with the well written and informative note this is a superb contribution to this site.

Oh, what contrasts between the huge ferries and the small tourist boats by the Kız kulesi. Those ferries are so big they almost make Istanbul look small. I like how you managed to include the Galata tower just beside the Maiden's tower.

This bridge is a testimony to the fine art of engineering. It actually reminds me of a super large version of something a clever child could produce with a Meccano kit. I love the lines and shapes and patterns produced by the iron contsruction.

Another fine composition with intensely saturated colours and strong contrasts. The three white pillars of the temple look like exclamation marks in the dark grey and green surroundings. The view is very nicely framed by branches and the fence.

I have taken panning shots of race horses, which is fairly easy. Doing it in a crowded Indian city is a very different matter. You have done very well with good sharpness in the right places. The blurred background gives a good idea of the hustle and bustle of an Indian street.
Long ago I once had the privilege of travelling with motorcades through central Jaipur, and later Bangalore, all streets having been carefully emptied by the police and the sidewalks packed with people. It was a strange and unique experience of going at a very high speed through large Indian cities.
Kind regards,
Gert |

This is a spectacular composition of a very beautiful area. The colours of the trees in the foreground match those of the distant village very well. Between them a number of shades of green can be seen in the very pretty landscape. The light is also very well handled.

This is one of those occasions when such a tilt works very well. Along with the strong colours and contrasts achived by the filter this has made the picture quite stunning and very eye-catching and intresting to watch. The castle is really something and could probably be well captured from a number of angles.

When I was doing my military service ages ago I often had to climb telephone poles this way to install or take down temporary telephone lines. It was actually great fun after the first few nervous attempts. This was a well timed and fairly odd shot of a man at work. The low perspective is superb and the blue sky with just a glimpse of a tree provides a great background.
Kind regards,
Gert |

To take a photo like this you definitely need some diplomatic skill. I think the Aboriginals' experiences of White Man make them rightfully suspicious, so you have to gain some confidence. It's a good portrait, but to you maybe even more important as a memory of the journey. You have exposed this very well in difficult conditions. The sea is nearly overexposed, but not really. The very light tones make the sea and the sky look very beautiful.
Kind regrds,

This is a fantastic combination of the relative sterility of the modern, grey architecture and the fertility of the young mothers. They are also perfectly placed, bending towards the spiral staircase, some of them dressed in bright red. Their gymnastics look rather funny in these surroundings but are most likely very good for their bodies after childbirth. This is another fine observation of an expression of daily life in an unexpected place.
Kind regards,
Gert |
